Crooning coronets and wailing saxophones usher in the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, an extended weekend in Florida to celebrate what's arguably the most creative musical art form. Established in 1979, this event has been going strong for more than 30 years. The Holiday is a world-class showcase of the best jazz talent.

The Clearwater Jazz Holiday is unusual in its pricing: It's always free. There's no charge. Dedicated to entertaining and educating people about jazz, the CJH certainly fulfill its self-proclaimed mission each year to "be the leading proponent of jazz entertainment and education in Florida through the annual presentation of a world-class, live music festival."

Past lineups of the Clearwater Jazz Holiday are a literal who's who of jazz legends. Performers have included the Count Basie Orchestra, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny G, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Paquito D'Rivera's Brazilian Dream featuring New York Voices, and the godfather of jazz, Tito Puente.

Presented by a charitable foundation, the Holiday devotes a good portion of its energy to educating audiences about jazz, and providing jazz study scholarships for students in need. Often, the Holiday has paired jazz students and local teachers with world-renowned recording artists for lessons and performances.

The festival features extensive galleries of jazz-themed artwork, fun activities, and kids' areas, so bring the whole family along to enjoy the Clearwater Jazz Holiday.
