Sundance Film Festival

Sundance Film FestivalAre you ready to indulge your inner movie geek?

What

The Sundance Film Festival is the most visible oasis for independent cinema in the United States. Although it began as a much humbler operation, founded in 1979 and first dubbed the “the Utah/US Film Festival,” it eventually got the attention it deserved in the 1980s. We’re sure actor/director Robert Redford’s role as chairperson helped make that happen. Today, roughly half a million film fans flock to Park City to not only watch great up-and-coming cinema, but celebrities, too. (Many of the festival’s film goers are famous.) Along with the movie marathon, Sundance Film Festival attendees can also go skiing!

With a national film competition, the Sundance Film Festival highlights indie filmmakers who otherwise would go unnoticed. Past Sundance Film Festival winners include films like Welcome to the Dollhouse, Girlfight, You Can Count On Me, American Splendor, and Primer.
