Property Details

Updated: Sep 23, 2014
- 3 Bedrooms with Queen Beds, 2 Full Baths, sleeps 6

Cathedral ceiling, balcony, wood stove, deck, dsl, wifi, all new appliances:from washer/dryer to coffee grinder to Saki cups, trails run through my properties past organic plantings of fruit, nut trees and hundreds of plantings that support the abundant wildlife (from bluebirds to eagles), access my pond, 2 streams, adjoins thousands of acres of the 20 mile long reservoir, on which I have a boat available to you for fishing, & as of May 2012 will be open for kayaking, canoeing, & removable keel sailboats—must register craft with DEP & have them cleaned & receive sticker. Hiking willl also be expanded on reservoir property. Wonderful hiking throughout the area as well as biking along the quiet roads, you lookout upon the mountains of the forever wild Catskill Park, yet only 12 minutes from the delightful village of Andes with shops, restaurants & galleries. Several lakes for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, plus a pool in the Village. Kayak & canoeing now available in other NYC reservoirs.

Take great hikes starting at the front door or throughout the Catskill Park which begins on the other side of the reservoir offering trails of varying degrees of difficulty. The quiet winding road that runs below my properties is a favorite for bicyclists--it is 14 miles from my cabin to the end of the road in Downsville and you will only pass 7 homes along the way.

My other house is the nearest dwelling--a hundred yards away and tucked behind spruce trees. You are welcome to share my pond and walk the trails to discover little natural events. (Should I have this home rented you would need to have the permission of those rentee's to have access.) Have a large group? Rent both of my homes (12 maximum)--see my other listing on this site 138687.

5 ski resorts in the area as well a snow tubing. Bring snowshoes & crampons for the Catskill trails. Several rivers offer good kayaking and canoeing, while the Beaverkill is a world class fly fishing stream. Or just curl up by the fire with a book and beverage of choice. In summer sit on the deck and watch fireflies dance under a star studded sky, I hope you find this a comfortable mountain retreat to recharge & reconnect.

EXCEEDING ALL EXPECTATIONS

  • 5 of 5
Imagine a friends' reunion with four people getting together after decades apart, along with a few partners and spouses filled with both anticipation and trepidation. For this we needed extra-special comforts, state-of-the-art facilities, access to superb countryside views and walks, self-catering facilities for unforgettable cuisine, with lots of room for adult laughter and merriment but also for quiet moments of privacy, and, of course, excellent state-of-the art wifi to keep us in touch with the world. All of this and more we received. Topped by the most wonderfully warm, helpful, welcoming host. Michael has equipped the venue not only with excellent facilities and everything one needs for a long weekend away, but also with tasteful furnishing and decor, lots of books and videos, and a user-friendly kitchen with all implements supplied, everything needed for external barbecue, superbly comfortable beds, linen, bathroom towels, etc. Every photo on the website is an accurate refection of the attractive and spacious reality of the place. It is meticulously clean and cared for, and the pre-visit information is accurate and very helpful. The local towns (and the store three miles away) provide easy access to supplies. This is a number one vacation venue: for anyone looking for a dream vacation spot with home comforts, this is it.

Beautiful cabin with amazing views

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful week in this lovely comfortable cabin with glorious views from the deck across the mountains. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife with cosy evenings in and feel the quality of everything in the cabin was excellent. Michael was very helpful at all times and we really enjoyed being in this special place in the Catskills.

Gorgeous Views, Peaceful Getaway, Lovely Home!

  • 5 of 5
We picked this cabin for a girls’ getaway from NYC. The drive up was surprisingly fast and easy, and we felt so relaxed as soon as we walked in to the cabin. We sat around enjoying each other’s company while sipping on wine, BBQing outdoors, or reading books. We all slept really well to the sounds of birds chirping and a light gentle breeze. While we visited during the summer, we could see how this cabin would be a great rental year-round. The owner was really responsive both pre-arrival and during our stay. We have to mention again how clean the cabin was!

This is your ideal cabin for a relaxing getaway . . . beautifully furnished, very clean, nice sheets, well stocked kitchen, gorgeous view of the mountains, and peaceful surroundings. Book this for your next getaway . . you won't be disappointed!

Couldn't be nicer

Couldn't be nicer

My wife and I and our 7-year old twins spent an idyllic week at Michael's cabin at the beginning of March 2011. We liked the place instantly on arrival and at no point did our impression change. Spacious, yet cosy, modern but nevertheless full of character, remote enough for one to feel as if one is in the wilderness, but not really more than twenty minutes from a decent supermarket, and all the kitchen and entertainment appliances one could possibly need. Beds were comfortable and warm, and the views were spectacular. 5 stars doesn't seem quite enough.
