The Guest Cottage is part of a large structure that used to be a large woodworking shop. The Main House is also available to rent (see #431933). Renters or the owners may be occupying the Main House during your vacation in the Guest Cottage.

We live in the Boston area and have 20+ years experience on MV. Our first trips to MV involved bringing our bicycles on the ferry and biking the entire island. After an exhilerating day, we'd grap a cup of chowder and a beer and reluctantly catch a late ferry back home. We knew then we were hooked. We couldn't wait to get back to MV. Then we started staying in charming Inns for long weekends which lead to renting houses with friends over the years in Gay Head and Chappy. During these years we still biked a lot and learned the island very well and agreed that Edgartown was our favorite place to be because it was charming, convenient, and yet not too busy. Once we started having kids, it got harder and harder to haul all our toys for just a week or two during the summer, so we started looking at property and found this gem in 2001 and have enjoyed our MV experiences even more. Based on our own experiences, we try to make it very convenient for our renters by trying to have almost everything you need except for your food and clothes so your rental experience is less stressful and you can concentrate on having a relaxing vacation.
“I drove by this house a couple of times when it was on the market. It looked very small from the road and I crossed it off my list. My realtor convinced me to take a drive down the driveway and promised I would be pleasantly surprised. I was! It's a hidden gem and much larger than it appears. There is a large garage structure that used to be a woodworking shop. The previous owner built the Main House as a replica of The Vincent House that is now a museum in downtown Edgartown. Years later, a 1/3 of the huge garage structure was converted into a 900-sq.ft. 1-bedroom Guest Cottage that is a perfect spot for couples or small families to enjoy a fun and relaxing summer vacation.”
Located in the beautiful Katama area of Edgartown and only 1 mile to Main St. downtown Edgartown or 2 miles the opposite direction to South Beach, both accessible most of the way via paved bike path. This rental property street is located past the Katama General Store heading toward South Beach on the first street after the road splits into Katama Rd/Herring Creek Rd. The Katama area is much desired due to the quietness of the area compared to downtown's constant hustle and bustle, yet close enough to walk or bike into town in just a few minutes.

“The house is located right off a paved bike path that goes around the 'Katama triangle'. This is a great walk, bike, run, rollerblading path and is ~5 miles total. The Katama General Store is close by and is a popular destination if you want to grab a coffee/paper/scone in the mornings. You can also head into the cobble-stoned sidewalk of downtown Edgartown for some food or shopping (only 1 mile from house) or the opposite direction on the bike path leads you directly to South Beach (2 miles from house). Many of our renters have commented that our location is the best of both world. It's close enough to the action but far enough away for some quiet relaxation.”
