Accommodations: 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 5

Seclusion, Privacy and a Million Dollar View!

Visit the link below for more pictures.

Juniper Hill Lodge is perched on a steep incline with a magnificent view of Whiteface Mountain (4,867'), the fifth highest in New York. You won't see houses, or power lines, or roads, just the stunning High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains laid out before you..

At night it's a star gazer's paradise! The high altitude, low population and huge deck make this one of the best places to take in the heavens. Magnificent!.

Savor a good long soak in the large, heated Jacuzzi whirlpool tub which easily accommodates two! mmmmmm!...

Enjoy the Outdoor Wood-Fired Sauna! Easy to use, Amazing for relaxing after a day on the slopes!

Outdoor Fire Pit and the hammock. Hike the miles of trails right out the back door.

With a total of nine rooms, Juniper Hill Lodge provides spacious accommodations for 5 people with its 2 full bedrooms, loft sleeping area, 1 1/2 baths, gourmet kitchen, dining and living room

Enjoy Cooking?: The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking any of your favorite dishes. The knives are sharp, the pans are heavy restaurant-quality. There's a Kitchen Aid mixer, all sorts of baking pans, pie tins and muffin trays. There's even a Waffle Maker and coffee grinder for your lazy mornings! And, you'll be cooking on a gas range of course.

The kitchen sink is a big and extra deep-- large enough to brine a turkey in. And the kitchen island is a huge flat working surface made of Adirondack Granite from the local garnet mines. We love it!

Clean up is no problem using the large capacity super quiet dishwasher.

Skiing at Whiteface: Whiteface Mountain--Greatest Vertical Drop in the East! Juniper Hill Loj is 1 mile away from the entrance! The mountain is so close (see the pictures!) that we use our walkie-talkies to communicate with the kids when they are skiing! You'll never fight traffic through the notch to make it in time for the first powder of the morning! And, Lake Placid is only 10 miles away--so, after a day of skiing, a fine evening out is very close by!

Ironman Lake Placid: We love IronMan! The house is in a great spot for it being a mile from the bike course. We usually watch the race at the out-and-back in Wilmington which is just a mile away. Remember, at the out-and-back you can stay in one place and see your Ironman 4 times on the bike loop! Parking there is really easy and you don't have to travel on the bike loop to see the race. Since the house is not directly on the bike route there are easy options for traveling either direction towards Keene or Lake Placid--at any time of day. Wilmington is a great, central location to spend your Ironman week--just a bit beyond the chaos of Lake Placid, Very easy to get around on race-day for your cheering squad. Book it now!

Juniper Hill Home

The house was lovely. Amazing views. Super kitchen and bathroom. Enjoyed the sauna. Kids loved the piano and also the loft area because of tv and computer. We were a bit nervous about all the pottery up there...... So easy to knock over.... No accidents fortunately.

The lamp in the kids room next to the lego underneath the bed is not working.....
The bedrooms are a bit small and makes it tough for luggage. The area near the stove is helpful for extra stuff. The stove was not needed - surprisingly. When we used it, the temp got too hot in the bedrooms.

Thanks again for letting us stay. We would come back again.

Hope our comments are helpful.

What a beautiful home!

What a beautiful home! We were so comfortable here with our 2 teen-age boys. The kitchen was very well-equiped and we ate many meals on the deck looking at the mountain. I loved my morning tea with the mountains. We enjoyed a campfire at night with s'mores and looking at the amazing stars. We hiked the ponds and Flume knob and checked out the swimming spot but never swam because who would guess in July the temp would be chilly. We loved our stay here and hope to come back again. Thank you for your lovely home and all your recommendations. We had a great time!

Very quiet and relaxing.

Our family stayed for a long Mother's day weekend and we had a fantastic time. I've rented other private homes and this was one of the best. The home is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing in the sauna as the sun went down. The views from the living room and kitchen are spectacular. We almost slept outside on the deck but it was a little to chilly. Everything was clean and tidy. We can't wait to come back again.

This was the perfect place for our reunion with friends. 3 of us learned to snowboard, 1 of us baked amazing goodies in your kitchen, and one enjoyed the wonderful toys you had to offer!
The 5 of us will never forget the beautiful mountain view and the comfort of this lovely home.

Disappointing experience

  • 2 of 5
We rented Juniper in July for the week of Ironman. Our son was participating. My two grown sons, wives and kids were all supposed to be at the cabin. One wife and kids did not come. The cabin has 2 small bedrooms. One has a double bed, the other has a twin bed and a tiny bunk built into the wall. It would sleep someone under 4 feet tall. The loft has a futon which was not big enough to accommodate our sons or ourselves. There was a very steep staircase up to the loft and no handrail. We slept on the living room floor on an aerobed. The weather turned quite cold overnight (39) and we froze. Guess I should have packed a blanket or two as there were no extra to be found. The heat was unreliable and the wood burning stove filled the cabin with smoke. Its instructions called for closing the flu. That is something we never would have done.

The owner thought there would be plenty of room with small children. But the lack of beds, safety features (bathtub & no handrail to the loft) and no real place for young children (3 & 5) to play, I would not recommend this cabin to families with young children.

The bathroom was rather ridiculous. While it made a pretty picture for Cabin Life magazine, it was not practical or user friendly. One had to climb up a tree stump stair and over into the tub. It would have been impossible to bathe our young grandchildren in the tub. I will say there were lots of towels to use.

The kitchen while definitely well stocked was dirty along with the rest of the cabin. The baking pans were very sticky and I did not want to touch them.. The gas grill was a godsend. I do believe we left the entire place cleaner than we found it.

We did enjoy the outside campfire at night. The stars were beautiful as was the view from the deck.

Getting into Lake Placid for the Ironman was a zoo. The roads were closed after 6 am. We had to drive 16 miles south and west to get to parking and then be bussed into town. Once there you stayed there until the end. The cabin itself was 13 miles outside Lake Placid. If I ever did this again I would get a hotel in town. I do not believe this rental is worth the price we paid.

Owner's Response: Comfort for our guests is important to us at Juniper Hill Loj. We work to be clear in our initial conversations with potential guests that there is a firm 6 guest limit at the Loj and children are counted as guests. Our arrangement of one queen sized bed, one double bed (convertible futon sofa) , one twin sized bed and a loft bed, all with gorgeous down comforters and plenty of pillows, allows for a comfortable "full house" with warm bedding for all.

Guests unfamiliar with wood stoves usually follow the posted and written instructions and recognize that a sensitivity to weather/ wind flow conditions is important.

The open plan of the Loj and the numerous large windows that look out onto the deck and to the yard make it easy to supervise children when involved in meal prep etc.... Most of our guests make use of the handrails when using the two sets of stairs in the house as well as the handrails in the bathroom. (It is unfortunate that you were unable to locate or use them.)

We are proud of our housekeeping staff at Juniper Hill Loj and are pleased that they work so hard to prepare the cabin including the extensive kitchen and large living areas (which include board games and creative children's toys ) for each of our guests. We appreciate hearing any specific concerns immediately so as to remedy them quickly.
