Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Come stay in our charming, mountain lake home and enjoy the gorgeous, 180 degree views of Rocky Mountain National Park and Shadow Mountain Lake. Cook up a hearty breakfast in the kitchen and enjoy a cup of coffee while savoring the views, quiet location, and easy access to numerous activities. An artesian spring and willow bushes provide natural attractions for moose, fox, elk and other animals which you will likely see during your visit.

Spend a fun-filled day skiing, snowshoeing or browsing the shops in Grand Lake. How about sledding or cross country skiing with your family? This cabin is the ideal place for you to make those special memories that will last a lifetime. Have fun hanging out together and getting away from it all - enjoy board games, doing a puzzle, or just relaxing in the laid back Colorado mountains.

Have lunch or dinner in one of the many fine local restaurants. Perhaps you will decide to explore the night life in the valley, or maybe a relaxing evening at home is in order. The full kitchen has everything you need to make a wonderful home-cooked meal.

Return to the cozy cabin after a busy day in the mountains and sink into the soft recliner couch with a bowl of popcorn to watch a movie. When it's time for bed, climb our signature spiral staircase to the master bedroom and loft, aka 'the fort,' which is perfect for the young and the young at heart. Then nestle under the warm quilts for sweet dreams, until you awake to another amazing day in Grand Lake, Colorado.

**We also own the Moose Cabin, #218770. Rent one or both cabins! They are on the same 1/2 acre, but separate. A great place for two families to stay.***

About the Owner

We love the Grand Lake area and all of the outdoor activities it offers. We especially enjoy relaxing at the cabin when we are not going up to work! As lovely as the cabin is, we are always making improvements. We figure if we are comfortable there, our guests will be as well.

Wonderful weekend at a wonderful cabin

  • 4 of 5
The cabin was just as presented in the listing - cozy, comfortable, clean. The communication with the owners was excellent, and they made us feel very welcome. They even helped with some special recommendations for dining in the area, and were great in all aspects.

Our only minor issue is that we would prefer the walls of the upstairs bathroom went entirely to the ceiling.

Overall, highly recommended!

Beautiful Views! Clean and Charming

  • 5 of 5
Traveled to the cabin with my boyfriend and we had terrible weather but the cabin made the trip amazing anyway. It was a great nest to hide from the rain/snow, comfortable and charming with a great view of the lake and mountains. It has a lovely deck and BBQ where we cooked some meals. Though it was just us two it was actually a very family friendly cabin space and location wise. Close to the surrounding towns we had access to the hot sulfur springs, markets and shops, hiking trails (other activities) the lakes and some cute low key restaurants (need a car to access these things). Would highly recommend and hope to visit again myself.

Cozy, clean, charming cabin with great views

  • 5 of 5
We travel to Grand Lake as much as possible but this was our first time in Star Cabin. The cabin is perfect for 2 people looking for a cozy get away while feeling spacious as well. The interior is very clean, with a well stocked kitchen, living/dining area that opens onto a deck via french doors thus providing views of Shadow Lake from all angles. Living area has a gas fireplace, TV and very comfortable couch and love seat forming a conversation arrangement. Upstairs bedroom also has a wrap around deck and large window that provides great views from the bed which, by the way, was very comfortable. Surroundings were quiet and we were visited in early evening by a family of white tail deer just off the kitchen deck.
There are many really great shops in Grand Lake, as well as very good restaurants in nearby Granby. Of course brunch or lunch on the porch of the Grand Lake Lodge is a must.
Rocky Mountain National Park is the biggest sight seeing draw with moose, elk
amazing vistas and the entrance is located just outside the town of Grand Lake.
The owners of Star Cabin are wonderful. Accessible, personable and always had our needs foremost in mind. We very highly recommend Star Cabin and will definitely return for every one of our Grand Lake getaways.

Charming with Spectacular Views!

  • 5 of 5
My boyfriend and I had such an amazing stay at the Star Cabin! We were up in Grand Lake for a weekend and it was the perfect place to stay. The views of the lake from the multiple decks were amazing and the cabin was equipped with everything needed to make it feel like home. Plenty of room to spread out on the patio with the grill, the fire pit out back or the wrap around deck upstairs. We actually had a chance to meet the owners as they were doing some landscaping work next door and they were extremely nice and accommodating. We were even offered a ride home from the wedding if we had too much to drink :-). We hope to return again soon!

Perfect family cabin with lakefront view

  • 5 of 5
Our trip to Grand Lake/Rocky Mountain National Park is a memory our family will always treasure. The Star cabin was perfect for my husband, me and our two grade-school boys. The kitchen has everything you need to make as many meals as you like, or you can barbecue outside. The upper and lower decks were our favorite places; my husband and I did a lot of reading sitting on the top looking over Shadow Mountain Lake. The two full bathrooms were a plus, too. The cabin feels newer and very well maintained. Our family hiked in RMNP, rented a motor boat from the Grand Lake Yacht Club, went whitewater rafting with Colorado River Runs in Radium (90 minutes away and very remote), went horseback riding at Sombrero Stables in Grand Lake and shopped in the town. The only thing I would say is that the town's cuisine is a little lacking (we're from Chicago and are used to all different types of great food). We did find good pizza at the bowling alley (Lulu City Pizza) and decent lunches at Cy's Deli and Blue Water Bakery. The mountains are such a magical place, and we're glad we had such a comfortable stay at the Star cabin.

The cabin was beautiful and clean. Owners were quick with responses and helpful. We would definitely recommend this cabin as the place to stay in Grand Lake! Grand Lake was a very enjoyable town and also would recommend spending a day at Hot Sulfur Springs. Lots of fun restaurants to choose from and hiking everywhere. We will return again and hope to make this a yearly destination!

Amenities

From the Owner

5/09: Recently, we had a gorgeous moose wander across our property. We quietly trailed it, taking many pictures. What a huge animal - we certainly kept our distance! We've observed elk while eating out on the deck. The winter snowfalls are amazing. We had 3 feet out in the yard this winter! The summers are cooler than in Boulder, and we can see far more stars!
