Enjoying Pura Vida

  • 5 of 5
We spent a wonderful three weeks at Casa de Valencia sharing our time with family and friends who came and went during the time we were there. For the first time in our many travels, though never to Costa Rica, we did not rent a car. Given the location of the villa and all of the activities and transportation options available, we did not miss having one. Getting to and from the airport in Liberia was very easy and can be arranged through the rental office or a van or taxi can be easily arranged from the airport.

The villa itself was very comfortable and the outdoor patio, dining and pool area wonderful. We spent most of our time outdoors and loved the visits from birds, iguanas and monkeys. The staff at Casablanca was friendly and helpful and provided any assistance we needed. We did most of our own cooking and enjoyed the outdoor grill, fully equipped kitchen and proximity to the local grocery store and fresh fish market. Kenny provided a handy wheeled shopping cart which made life very easy!

We enjoyed the beach, ocean, pool and various tours of the area. Most of all, we loved being able to hang out on our wonderful and secluded patio reading, and reveling in the Pura Vida life. We enjoyed it so much that we're hoping to spend a month next year at wonderful Casa de Valencia.

Owner's Response: When i bought the place, it was already a great place, so i do not have a lot of merit, but one of the improvement that came from me was the little two wheel cart... a must :)

Glad you liked it!

Family Bonding Time

  • 5 of 5
Renting the villa through Kenny and Annick was a breeze. We emailed, made two payments and voilà, we were booked! Getting to the house was also a breeze. Our driver (we had booked in advance through the owners of the Casa) was waiting for us at the airport. He took us to the office where we retrieved keys to the condo. He dropped us off at the gate of the complex. Nelson, the guard on duty that day, helped us figure out the keys and helped with the luggage. The condo was ready for us: it was air conditioned, clean, furnished, had fresh linens and had every kitchen tool needed to cook our meals (except maybe some bbq tongs, which we ended up buying) plus some spices. The kids decided who would get which room and then changed into their bathing suits. We were off to the beach!!! Tamarindo Beach is very large at low tide and quite long. Walking it from one end to the other takes about 20 minutes if you walk briskly. The walk from to the condo to the beach is so short that the kids would often return to the condo during the day for a break from the waves. We took advantage of the pool at the complex where most of the neighbours were Canadians like us. The ocean water is so warm and it didn't even rain once. Every morning, my husband and I would get up early to walk on the beach. We either walked up to the Estuary or to Langosta beach all the way to the Barcelo. Either way, we would pick up a few items from the grocery store before returning to the condo. We would put together a nice breakfast which we ate at the patio table as we did all our other meals. We usually shopped at the Super 2001 and the Langosta store but went twice to the auto mercado. Food in Tamarindo is much more expensive than we had anticipated but we saved by eating at the house. The house is very well situated: close to the beach, walking distance to center of town and adjacent a lush park where monkeys like to hang out. Visiting the garden were racoons (in the evening for a quick hello), a few geckos, iguanas, birds, huge grasshoppers and a few bats. Every morning, the gardener would hose down our patio area and water the plants, leaving the area clean and welcoming. A cleaning lady came 3 times during our 12 day stay. Though we kept the condo clean, she made it so much cleaner by washing the floors, the towels, the sheets (once during the stay), cleaning the counters and dusting, cleaning the washrooms. The staff was always very friendly. We felt safe at all times.

Great Villa!

  • 5 of 5
I rented this house for a week in December with 4 friends, and it was exactly what we were looking for for our Cost Rica vacation! One of the best parts about the place is definitely the location. Within a few minutes you could be on the beach. The small access trail brings you right onto the beach on the quieter end of Tamarindo, which is nice if you just want to relax. To get to the center of town it is only a 10-15 minute walk. Tamarindo is a cute little town with a lot of great restaurants, bars and activities. We did surf lessons and an ATV/ziplining tour right in town, and we also took a day trip to the Arenal Volcano one day. It's a bit of a hike (about 3.5 hours), but totally worth it if it's your 1st time in Costa Rica! Also, we suggest doing a Blue Dolphin Catamaran tour one day, which leaves right from the beach in Tamarindo.

The house itself is great! The inside is spacious, and everything seemed very new and clean. The kitchen is equipped with pots/pans and all the appliances you need to cook meals right in the villa. The pool is very nice, and the patio was perfect for hanging out and relaxing after a day at the beach. All in all, we wanted a place that was close to everything, but also offered some privacy, and this villa was exactly what we were looking for. We would absolutely stay here again in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you Lauren for the comments, I am glad that the condo was responding to your needs. We try to keep it well furnished. Some owner doesn't and consider it is an unnecessary expense, because visitors sometimes are careless. We think it make the difference between a good or a bad experience, so it become a essentiel part of renting. And my visitors has been always respectful. I hope you will come back!

Dias muy agradables

  • 4 of 5

Great Villa

  • 4 of 5
The house was absolutely as posted online. Its a calm pretty little place with adequate bedrooms for 6 adults. The kitchen was well equipped, there were plenty of linens and towels etc including beach towels which was great. The villa is clean. The pool is clean an refreshing and there is security on site who are helpful if you have questions. The compound is small and the villa outside spaces are private enough to chill alone if you wish.

The owners were amazing at helping us get set up. They answered all questions and helped us set up a shuttle from airport. They were totally available by email on the lead up to our trip. RPM property mgrs. were a little glitchy for us hence the 4/5 review. May just be "tico time" attitude :)

The location was great for us - out of town enough to be quiet but an easy walk to get to all activities. Ensure that you bring a flashlight - the road is dusty and can be muddy if it rains. The Langosta Beach Club right down the street was an amazing place for us to hang. The beach is very close - again walk across the street down the access road and there it is :) Its an easy inexpensive cab ride into town. Figure how how much before you get into the cab.

Be aware that many people in the area (RPM included) are very helpful when assisting you in setting up tours (they get a kickback) - its actually easier to walk into town and set up the tours yourself - you can negotiate a better rate.

We would recommend RTV with Action tours (by villa Amarillo) and Marlin Del Ray catamaran.

Great food at Langosta Beach Club and make the trek to the far end of town to the Paris Bakery to get amazing croissants and pastries and quiches :) Grocery - as noted is expensive - its probably better to cab or drive to one of the major grocery stores outside of town and stock up once at the start of your trip - vs numerous trips to the small local (expensive) stores.

Use trip advisor to negotiate the numerous restaurants and activities.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review, a lot of great info for next guest! Sorry if you had glitches with my manager, i have contacted them and they gave their excuse to you for not being able to offer 100 % satisfaction. I,personally, don't bother if guys like RPM take some fee when finding a tour for me. I consider it like a small tip, because it is not so big difference in price. But i can understand people who like to shop and bargain, to seek for best price. Hope you will come back!

Another great trip to Tamarindo

  • 5 of 5
My family just got back for our trip to Tamarindo. We have been to Tamarindo now 4 years in a row. The first 2 years stayed across the street from Casa Valencia the other the 3rd year stayed in a high rise in town. We really enjoyed the quiet relaxing time at Casa Valencia, the home is beautiful, kitchen has every utensil you need, the grounds were beautiful, saw monkeys every day, the pool was very nice and the maids , guards were friendly and provided a great service. You are about a 2 minute walk down a trail to Suizo beach, we were lucky and got a good swell so we surfed twice a day. The nice thing about having 4 homes there that share the pool was me were able to meet a few really nice families and hang out with them. Great atmosphere.

Thanks Annick and Kenny for providing a great place to stay at a great price. We did alot of searching for homes and finally decided on Casa Valencia. What a great choice and we look forward to coming back next year.

Location

From the Owner

Costa Rica surpassed every other destinations as it has a lot of attractions, beaches, sports like all year surf, eco-tourism, no really bad weather. Very hot sea so you don't need wetsuit for watersport. You can go there all year round as Guanacaste is the driest Province of CR, so it usually doesn't rain all week in rainy season. It has a really negligeable violent crime, and feel really safe. When searching for a home, Casa de Valencia always stayed on top condo we visited. It is really close to the beach, so if you forget something at the house, you just don't loose much time for going back for it! It is far enough from the disco club of downtown so you have peaceful night. Garden is very luxurious and it feel COSTA RICA!

Amenities

From the Owner

Casa de Valencia was previously owned by Debra, she kept the place attractive and in perfect shape. We intend to keep it that way. Most condo you visit lack of glasses, towell or sometimes miss maintenance, all things you will have plenty at Casa de Valencia.
