SPECIAL RATES FOR OPEN FALL WEEKS - Be our guest at our beautiful custom built home. Our First Tier, Gulf View home (fabulous views of the Gulf from the 2nd and 3rd floor decks, both master suites and all the living areas) is just 40 steps from the sugar white sand and 30 steps to a 18’ x 36’ pool. This 2600 square foot home boast 4+ bedrooms, 5 baths, large bright living room, and dining room, den(kid zone or 5th bedroom), fireplace and elevator and semi private pool (shared with two other homes).

Cape Cottage sleeps 10 comfortably and furnished to make you feel at home. There are two master suites with king-size beds and private baths, the 3rd bedroom has a queen bed, and the 4th bedroom has four twin beds. In addition, there is a 13’ x 11’ den or (5th bedroom) with TV/DVD and queen size sofa/sleeper. Cape Cottage has plenty of space for gathering and quiet spots for reading. You can relax in the second floor screened-in deck or lounge in the sun on the third floor deck.

John and Dawn welcome you to our home. We have been vacationing at the cape for over 18 years and have owned property on the cape for 12 years. In 2008 we purchased Cape Cottage because of its great location on Haven Rd. We are first tier but share an oversized beach front lot with 3 other homes. The boardwalk to the beach comes right to our back door making beach accessibility terrific and the screen porch is to die for. Hope you enjoy as much as we do. Dawn and John

House Under Construction Next Door

This is a great house with a nice pool and wonderful beach location; however, a house is under construction directly next to it, and we were not informed of that fact when we booked our stay. The noise is intrusive and continuous from 8 am until about 5 pm (with the exception of a lunch break), which is certainly not conducive to a peaceful, relaxing vacation. This will probably be the case for approximately the next 3 months. Other than that, the house was as described, and we would consider staying there again after the construction is completed.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry about the construction noise. This new construction home has drug out longer than normal because some weeks they work and some weeks they do not. The framing is now complete so the disturbance should be minimized. Unfortunately this is out of our control.

Our Stay Was Awesome Sauce!

The pictures and description of the property are accurate. We arrived and settled in quickly and were in the pool after dinner. The pool and beach are awesome. Dawn and John are responsive to questions. The house is clean and well stocked. The kitchen was awesome, the elevator worked, there are tons of beach toys...

My parents went with me and really enjoyed their first beach vacation. We loved the house, we loved Cape San Blas and we can't wait to return.

For those of you looking at the reviews to determine if you should rent this property. We had no issues with our stay and I would recommend staying at this home.

Great family vacation

The home worked perfectly for our family of nine and two boston terriers. My mother uses a walker and the elevator made it easy for her to enjoy the home. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed the various beach toys. We had no concerns with the home and would stay here again.

Very Disappointed

Very disappointed with the state of this home as well as lack of customer service from owners. The home was unclean when we arrived, filthy air filters (dust was actually hanging from it), stained carpet, stained sofa and love seat, horrible mattress on pull out sofa (with no mattress pad). Refrigerator never worked properly would not maintain temperature and the water dispenser leaked all week on the kitchen floor. We had to buy ice and a cooler to store our food so it would not spoil. Garbage Compactor did not work, gas grill was filthy and did not light. The pool was also filthy and cloudy all week. The second floor door handle actually fell off and owner said they would repair and did not.
Loved Cape San Blas and will definitely return but would never rent from these homeowners again. Very disappointed. These homeowners were not prepared for guests nor are they focused on customer service.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry that our guest had anything other than a wonderful experience at our home and with our service. This Guest arrived Saturday after 4pm(check-in time) and we received a call about 9pm stating the refrigerator was not cooling and that they had turned the fridge setting on its coldest setting. This refrigerator is less than 1 year old and we have not had one complaint with this fridge. We have had problems in the past with renters filling refrigerator with warm food and it taking 24hrs for the fridge to catch up. With this being said we have no repairmen on the Cape at 10pm on Saturday night. On Sunday morning we made a service call request, but since it would take a few days to get a repairman to the Cape we drove to Panama City and bought another fridge to put in the guest storage to make sure our guests would have a working fridge available. Sunday afternoon John and I delivered the fridge and the “problem frig” was working just fine. Our guests mentioned that the front deck door handle was stripped out but it was not a problem because they were using other doors and not to worry about the repair. The handle was repaired during the following Saturday turn so as not to interfere with our renters. Other than the fridge and door handle the guests said our home was great. We did not hear from our guests the rest of the week or until they sent this review. Unfortunately these guests left our home in filthy condition with damage and were charged accordingly. Our wonderful cleaners were able to have our home ready for arriving guests by 4pm. PS: both refrigerators are working just fine and there are now two refrigerators at this home.
We strive to go above and beyond the needs of our guests to make sure every experience is as good as it can be.

Loved our time at Cape Cottage AGAIN!

This was our second stay at Cape Cottage and, once again, we were overjoyed with our stay and the beautiful home. Our dog, Kirby, also enjoyed his time on the beach. We continue to be amazed by the property, the beautiful beaches, and the overall furnishings of the home - especially the kitchen. We knew in returning this year that we didn't need to bring anything from home that was "missing" from the rental. The home was very clean and the owners were very responsive when we needed to reach them. As our friends would stop by for a night on their way further South, they would fall in love with Cape San Blas AND our beautiful home. Fun to have others feel as we do!! We especially enjoyed the take-out steamed shrimp from "The Pig" in Port St. Joe and the oysters from Up the Creek restaurant in Apalachicola. In short, we'll be BACK next year!

Great House!

The house is great. Every bit as nice as the pictures. Well equiped and clean. Although the weather was bad for the entire week we were glad we had such a nice house to enjoy. Love the Cape San Blass area. The only con would be is that it is not directly on the beach. You still have views of the ocean and a boardwalk to the beach. Owners are great to work with. I am sure we will go back

We chose this home because we wanted to be away from the busy roads and congested neighborhoods. We wanted to be first tier to better protect our home from the wear and tear of those gulf wind.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Panama City, Fl at 90 Miles Nearest Golf : Port St. Joe Country Club at 15 Miles Car: necessary

Cape Cottage is located three miles from St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. The park has 2516 acres and was rated the #1 Beach in the United States by Dr. Beach in 2003. This slender Peninsula of sugar-white sand includes a 1700 acre wilderness preserve. Enjoy Hiking, boating, swimming, snorkeling, shelling or just beach combing. Also available on the Cape are horseback riding, boat and kayak rentals, bike and scooter rentals.

Other activities include surf fishing and a paved three mile walking and bike path that leads to St. Joe Peninsula State Park. Port St. Joe offers shopping, charter fishing, dining, shopping, and golf. You can't miss historic Appalachicola, for top notch shopping and dining as well as the National Estuarine Research Preserve. For a taste of the local flavor stop by the Raw Bar at Indian Pass one of our personal favorites.

  • We are a pet friendly home and we do have an elevator for those who need help with stairs. The kitchen is completely stocked with all the tools you need for your favorite feast and don't forget the margaritas. For your entertainment we provide 5 TVs, DVD players, stereo and video library, books, games and puzzles. To stay connected we provide wireless, high speed (DSL) Internet access. And for your convince we have washer & dryer on second floor. We also include beach chairs, umbrellas, beach toys and boogie boards. Pool is shared with two other houses.
