This spectacular 20 acre property is just minutes away from downtown Atenas. You can easily walk there. It features a gorgeous home on 20 acres of private land with lush tropical gardens, orchards, streams and breath taking views. You can pick bananas by the swimming pool, caimoto by the front gate, mangoes along the drive and oranges, lemons, water apple, papaya and cashews in the orchard. From the verandas and other magical spots on the property there are views towards Poas volcano and the Central Valley. There are plenty of interesting walks in the neighborhood but just walking the property itself is an adventure and meditation is a tropical paradise.
The three bedroom main residence features vaulted ceilings, hand crafted hardwood windows, ceilings and doors. Huge wrap around verandas, totally private swimming pool and all modern conveniences. Internet, satellite TV provided.

A Week in Paradise!

From the minute Tonia answered my request for info, I knew that our visit to this beautiful home just outside of Atenas was going to be a great experience. Having never been to Costa Rica, my friends and I wanted to rent a home which would allow us to be centrally located. We wanted to be able to get into town easily, enjoy a pool at the home, take day trips to volcanoes, parks, and beaches around the country, have access to someone who could escort us to the best sites, and to stay in a comfortable home. Colina Paula fit the bill perfectly. Tonia was incredibly helpful arranging for a driver to pick us up at the SanJose Airport, even suggesting to him (and to us via email) that he stop at a 'supermercado' so that we could purchase groceries and spirits before heading to her home. Arriving at Colina Paula, we found the website photos to be entirely accurate but still not able to capture the natural beauty of the tree/tropical plant/pasture-covered property. The house itself is most aptly described as classy and comfortable; the woodworking has been done by a master craftsman. Laid out for optimal views of gorgeous mountains and volcanoes in the distance and cross-breezes to enjoy in the house or on the wrap-around patio, the house is in an ideal location to enjoy cooking dinner on the huge gas grill, sipping coffee on the patio, swimming in the immaculately maintained pool steps from the house, and relaxing. Tonia's care for the house carries over to her care for her guests, having suggested and arranged for us to contact Walter, a tour van owner, to take us on incredible day trips that allowed. While we loved spending our mornings on the patio over breakfast we made in the well stocked kitchen, we were just as eager to wander into town feeling like Atenas natives, enjoy a massage on the beach, or try a challenging zipline. We sadly said goodbye but we will surely return.

Living in the mountains, especially Atenas offers the ultimate climate for me: warm and comfortable during the day and cool at night. Buying this property as a bare piece of land and developing it with my heart and soul has taught me life lessons.
