Perfection!

Just returned from a four day stay in this wonderful cottage. It is in the perfect location, just a short walk to all the major downtown attractions and restaurants. The house was the perfect size for our family of three. All the furnishings were clean and comfortable. Loved the fact that we had a dishwasher and washer/dryer. The parking space was quite tight, but manageable for our mid-size SUV. The only regret of this vacation is the fact couldn't stay longer.

Quaint Charleston Cottage!

The cottage is absolutely adorable and has everything you need, including a washer, dryer, and dishwasher. It is perfectly located... we could walk everywhere we wanted to go for shopping, eating, and going out at night. Friendly neighbors even pointed us in the direction of a free concert while we were there! Claudia, the owner, is so friendly and accommodating. She was very easy to get ahold of if we had any questions. We drove a minivan and the famous parking spot fit like a glove. We loved our stay in Charleston and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

A Sanctuary in Downtown Charleston

My month-long writing retreat at this home could not have been more perfect. Situated close to everything downtown I needed and wanted, I walked most everywhere. Used my car only three times! There are wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, stores, museums, theaters, galleries, and college just a few blocks away. This home provided a quiet, clean, comfortable space to relax, write, or plan excursions around the city. The kitchen is well stocked to cook the great finds at the farmers market, or store leftovers from delicious meals out. Whether you want to have morning tea and do some journaling outside on the patio table, or sit with a glass of wine and watch the evening news, or take a nap between long walks to the bay, parks and lake, this is the place. The rooms are well appointed, cozy, fun. I felt safe walking to and from the house on the one lane road. The property caretaker was fabulous, available, helpful, welcoming. And most days, you'll hear the occasional horse-drawn carriage clop-clopping along, and you will imagine the people riding in being jealous of you waving from your front door. I have already recommended it to friends.

Two Couple Visit

Nice cottage for two couples. Having the separate bedroom en suite made it comfortable and gave both couples their needed space and privacy. Good furnishings, equipment, supplies, location great for walking to the main sites.. Staff Bradley very helpful. Parking was dicey -- narrow, space, hard to enter. I was careful, but not careful enough.

Cozy and Beautiful Getaway!

My wife and I just left this beautiful home today after a 4 night stay for our honeymoon. The house is located perfectly in proximity with downtown Charleston restaurants and other attractions. It was quiet, quaint, and gorgeous. Claudia was very thorough leading up to our stay with payment information, details and rules regarding the house, and any other questions we had. Bradley met us upon arrival and was extremely nice and helpful. He showed us all the good places to eat and some other attraction locations. Dell'z was delicious!! My wife and I were also met with some congratulatory flowers for our wedding which was extremely kind and thoughtful!

We definitely hope to stay at this cottage again when we return to Charleston. It was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this cottage!! Thank you again Claudia and Bradley! Take care!

Quaint home on quiet street in the perfect locatio

When I booked our family's stay in Charleston, I knew little about Charleston. I chose this rental b/c of the quick and friendly response from Claudia and the reviews. This home exceeded all of our expectations!

First, the home was nicely updated and decorated. It was well-appointed with plenty of towels and plates/silverware/glasses. We were able to fill the dishwasher and still have plenty of glasses/plates to eat off of. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there were 4 chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, and a cooler! This made our trip to the beach so enjoyable! There was also plenty of room for a family of four (with a teenager)! We all had comfortable seating to watch TV or lounge around.

Second, this home is in a great neighborhood on a quiet street. It is a one-way alley that does get a bit of cut through traffic; however, we did not find it a problem. It is just off College of Charleston campus and a block away from King Street and 2 blocks off of Market. There were plenty of local restaurants in various price ranges.

Even though it was a great neighborhood, the home security alarm and gate made us feel even more secure.

One note that I was worried about: The parking is tight, but we have an Acadia and had no problem parking it. We just had to be careful opening our doors. Also, it is easier to back in than pull in.

The only downside is the air conditioner was having problems and we were asked to keep the a/c no lower than 78. Anj indicated they were replacing it as soon as we left. It would have been a little more comfortable sleeping for my husband who prefers to sleep in a icebox; however, I was OK.

Thanks for a great home that made our vacation enjoyable, fun, and relaxing!

This historic home, locally referred to as a 'Freedman's Cottage', was originally built at the turn of the last century. Abandoned for many years, it was completely rebuilt in 2007 and retains the original foundation, traditional tin roof and hardwood floors. Modern and yet true to the original architectural style of the era, this comfortable cottage offers all conveniences and amenities.
