Just about perfect

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I rented this house for a long-planned Thanksgiving with our extended Seattle family. We needed a place that was reasonably accessible so our 95-year-old family matriarch would be able to use her wheelchair when she came to visit. Unlike many houses in Seattle, this house allowed us to wheel her in with no stairs and no problem. The house delighted us with its warmth, color, and well thought out furnishings. Our Thanksgiving guests, many of whom are artists and musicians, all commented on the loveliness and tranquility of the rooms and the artwork throughout. We enjoyed the gas fireplace on those gray drizzly afternoons, and loved the coziness and friendly vibe of the family room / kitchen area. The pictures really do not do it justice. Each room is spacious and flows smoothly into the next. The beds were comfortable, and I was impressed by the thread count in the sheets in the master bedroom. Not what one usually finds in a rental! Since we had to do a lot of cooking, I was concerned about the kitchen amenities. No worries! The kitchen was fully equipped - another pleasant surprise. Although we were there during a rainy spell, when the sun peeked out we got to enjoy the beautiful view of Green Lake and the Cascades right from the back deck. The neighborhood is charming and loaded with great restaurants within walking distance, and its a reasonably short drive to downtown and the airport. We highly recommend The Stumbling Goat, Phinney Market and Pub, Ken's Market, and the amazing little burger joint right up the street. Our daughter braved the Seattle rain and took a run around Green Lake - on her return she showed us pictures she took of the beautiful trail and even some chickens that greeted her from a neighbor's front yard! Matt and Lynne were super friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure sharing their home. We returned to the East Coast with many wonderful memories. We are looking forward to a return visit! Thank you again!

Inviting Home!

  • 5 of 5
What a beautifully decorated and inviting home! I loved the amazing view of Green Lake and the mountains from the deck and kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the gathering spaces for our family gathering were exceptional - nice big dining room, deck, and sitting area between the deck and kitchen. My Seattle sister, whom we all went out to see, was afraid we would not want to go to her house after seeing this wonderful home. The house is well stocked. The only thing we didn't like as others have said is that the toilet on the main floor is a very tight squeeze for sitting. We would definitely stay there again!

Perfect for 3 couples!

  • 5 of 5
We knew this was the home we wanted to stay in as soon as we saw the photos, and, as others have mentioned, the home surpasses the photos. It is not only beautiful, but well- furnished throughout, and well maintained.
There are 2 bedrooms, a bath, and 2 living areas, including an open kitchen, on the ground level. This seemed to be unusual for Phinney Ridge; most homes I saw have several steps leading to the front door. The deck, with that marvelous view, is also on this ground level. The couple in our party that have some mobility issues had no stairs to deal with, and were comfortable. The furniture not only looks great, it sits well too.
The kitchen.......I've stayed at several VRBO homes, and this one has a kitchen outfitted most like my home. The knives are nice, (sharpener in the block) the pans still have their nonstick coating, the stove is gas and great. The outdoor grill is gas and perfect. We had all we needed to cook and serve great meals, and we consider ourselves pretty good cooks.
The neighborhood.....there is a wonderful market, Ken's Market, up the hill and down a few blocks. We walked there for groceries most days. The homes here are all great. You will feel and are completely safe. Several restaurants are also just a couple of blocks away, uphill, and there is even a hardware store. I mention uphill because someone earlier posted that this neighborhood is not walkable, but it is totally. You only have to conquer the one hill, and then you are level. This neighborhood is also really easy to drive to and from. You will be downtown in 10 to 15 minutes, and it is an easy drive with reasonable traffic.
Parking is on street, but from our experience, always available right in front of the house. And, by the way, you will sit on the front porch and just admire the front landscaping. Well done, Matt and Philip!
Others have mentioned that funky ground level bathroom, and the lack of leg room. Everyone who visited that particular bath commented on it, but you won't care. If you purchased the house, you might change it, but it's fine for a visit. However, this home is listed as wheelchair accessible, and while it is, the bathtub-shower combo in the ground level bath is not exactly handicap accessible. There are no bars to provide stability...again, not an issue for most folks, but our octogenarians had a bit of trouble.
We loved our stay here, and would certainly consider this home again if we return!

This was our first time using VRBO & in the Seattle area. We loved this home. So beautiful! Very clean, great location - in walking distance of tons of restaurants & shops. We had friends and family in town, everyone rented houses, all agreed that this one was great! You can tell that the owners take pride in this property!

Sunny Seattle

  • 5 of 5
As I was traveling to Seattle for business, it was a good opportunity to have my wife and young daughter come along for the trip. Having lived in Seattle previously, I had prior knowledge of the Phinney Ridge area, but this house exceeded our expectations. The view of Greenlake and the Cascades was absolutely terrific. It's location allows for an easy walk to restaurants, grocery stores, and the zoo. Plus my commute to downtown Seattle was very very easy both to and from the office.

Matt and Lynne were great to work with and they made the house feel very warm with flowers and a crib for our little girl. I'd definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a great Seattle experience.

wonderful experience in a lovey home

  • 5 of 5
This was our first time renting a VRBO so I was a bit nervous. We were in town for a wedding and our family came together from three different states. The home was much more than what I expected. The attention to design was very comforting and enjoyable down to the finest details. The location was perfect and close to many attractions. The weather was beautiful and gave us an opportunity to stroll around green lake close by. The neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe. We were able to enjoy the lovey view from the deck and the gardens were fantastic. It was much more than what I expected and even better than the photos.

From the Owner

I've always loved living in this neighborhood. I can walk across the street to the Farmer's Market or down the hill to Greenlake. I bought this house originally because I love the location, so close to everything.
