Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 7-8)

Beautiful Rocky Mountain Retreat is located halfway between Flagstaff and Williams, AZ at 7500 ft elevation surrounded by 3 secluded acres of tall Ponderosa Pines. This immaculate cabin is beautifully decorated and fully furnished with all the modern amenities. There are 2 bathrooms, one queen-size bedroom, a full-size bedroom and a third room with a bunk bed with a full-size on the bottom and twin on top. There are also a pull-out queen sofa-bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern appliances you could need and full sets of serving and cooking utensils for entertaining. Free high-speed wireless internet is available (hopefully for fun not work :-). There is also a full-size washer and dryer. Hair dryers, curling irons and basic toiletries are included. There are plenty of cozy pillows and blankets and several sleeping bags. You can curl up in front of the stone fireplace and watch the wildlife outside. Rocky Mountain Retreat has all the comforts of home.

Outside the Cabin:: The large wraparound deck is great for outdoor family meals. Then relax with some marshmallows around the campfire or watch the swaying trees or bright stars as you lay in the hammock. Children will love the tree house with slide and hammock, swing sets, horseshoes, or playing basketball in front of the 2-car garage. There is a huge selection of board games, videos and DVDs as well as 3 satellite TVs. Hiking and off-roading trails abound. The Grand Canyon Deer Farm/Petting Zoo and Oak Hill Snowplay area (in winter) are only minutes away. There are several small lakes nearby, as well as the Lava Cave and breath-taking Sycamore Canyon hiking/rock climbing area. The area around our cabin is abundant with elk.

The Area:: Rocky Mountain Retreat offers a true sense of being away from it all, yet the town of and Flagstaff with over 200 restaurants, great night life and shopping is only 20 mins away. The historic Route 66 town of Williams is only 10 mins away, where you can catch the Grand Canyon Railway or Polar Express (in winter). The Grand Canyon is a 45 min drive, and fantastic Oak Creek Canyon/ Sedona is about 30 mins. There are two downhill ski resorts 30 and 45 mins away and a cross country ski trail just a couple minutes away. Snowbowl resort is at 11,500 ft elevation and offers 32 trails of great skiing/snowboarding; in the summer you can take the skyride to the top for panoramic views that include the Grand Canyon, and fantastic hiking. Rocky Mountain Retreat has something for everyone. Why stay in a hotel room or rent a house in a subdivision when you can create the special memories of a real get-away vacation in the cool pines at Rocky Mountain Retreat!

About the Owner

My husband and I have always loved the mountains. He grew up in the city (Chicago), but I grew up in rural California camping in Yosemite most weekends with my parents, wonderful memories... We wanted to own a special mountain retreat where we could build our family memories while our kids were still young (the above picture is 13 years after we built our cabin ;). We love our time in the woods and our cabin has become very special to our family. We truly enjoy sharing our cabin with our guests.

We did have a great stay at Rocky Mountain Retreat. It was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. We especially loved the outdoor fire pit. We had a campfire in the snow and made snowmen at night. The kids thought that was really fun! If we come back to Arizona we will definitely stay again and we are telling our friends. Happy New year! Fully loaded and secluded cabin

  • 4 of 5
First let me say Dawn was a great host. She always answered any questions I had before and during my stay and I loved all the detail she puts into the property.

Positives: The cabin is as advertised, a cabin with everything you could need for a stay and secluded enough to give you the camping feel. Waking up in the morning and sitting out on the deck was very relaxing! The fire pit and tree house were both big hits with my son. I personally loved all the additional video games/movies/board games that were available as well.

Negatives: The internet was a slower then I would have liked and had it been raining I would have been slightly concerned about my car making it up the drive way to the cabin, as the drive way was in pretty poor condition compared to the other cabins around.

Overall, if you are looking to escape it all and enjoy a great cabin in a remote area, this is the place for you!

A Lovely Gem in the Woods

  • 5 of 5
This house is amazing. The caretakers/proprietors made this a clean, inviting experience. It is very well decorated and it comes fully equipped. We did NOT want for anything in the way of comfort. All of the comfort and ease was provided for us. They even had a "welcome" basket with some goodies in it. The directions to the cabin, the instructions about what to do once we got to the cabin were all very easy to understand and follow. This is a quality location with great privacy. It is roughly 15 minutes from Flagstaff and roughly an hour or so from the Grand Canyon. Ideal if you have children and don't want to "rough" it. We would definitely recommend this to friends and family. We would also stay here again in the future! Thank you all for having us, it was a pleasure writing this review.

A Great Getaway!

  • 5 of 5
I found the property to be well maintained and the owner very responsive to any needs or questions we had regarding the property. The cabin is isolated but Flagstaff is close enough for an easy visit for dinner and shopping for essentials. There are some great trails within a short drive and the cabin is a nice base to the Grand Canyon. This is a pleasant getaway from the Phoenix area.

Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5
Our stay here was exactly what I was hoping it would be: RELAXING. The cabin itself was exactly as it is pictured and described. The cabin is stocked full of kitchen essentials (even more than listed on the advertisement). For fun, we all played basketball, horse-shoes, several swings and one hammock (my favorite!), went exploring thru the private woods surrounding the cabin, and played tons of games that my daughters had never played before so that was fun. The property manager provides super organized details about the cabin: how to use everything in and around the cabin, how to find the cabin, fun places to visit in the area, etc. I also loved the Welcoming Basket waiting on the counter when we arrived :)

We had a wonderful vacation, the cabin is great!

  • 5 of 5
The cabin was extremely comfortable (nice decor) - had a homey feeling! We found we preferred staying in and enjoying the cabin and immediate surroundings versus exploring the sites nearby. The only thing noticed was artificial plants needed dusting but the rest was great! Thank you we will be back!! The Sedillo's

Exceptional Cabin Makes for a Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5
This cabin is great if you're thinking about renting it do it now before the dates book up! My girlfriend and I have stayed at a couple of different cabins but this one has exceeded our expectations. Be aware that you don't need to pack much the cabin has it all. All you truly need is clothes, a toothbrush, and food. Dawn had everything from dishes to paper towels, a ton of board games, movies, laundry detergent and the list can go on and on. The café just up the road has great food options as we ate there for breakfast and dinner. We didn't get a chance to see the lava river cave as our stay was a bit short but hopefully we can see it next time we go up. Thanks Dawn we will be back again soon.

Location

From the Owner

We searched a lot of mountain areas and decided that the Flagstaff area had the most to offer - beautiful pine tree covered mountains, close access to skiing, the Grand Canyon and Sedona, a great historic town with tons of restaurants and shopping, and temperatures 20-25 degrees cooler than Phoenix. The town of Flagstaff has a wonderful mix of small-town quaintness and great energy from the young university population. There are fantastic family-owned restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques, as well as all the convenient chain stores we're used to. We knew we wanted acreage with lots of trees (we have enough of 'subdivision life' in Phoenix). We found some beautiful land just 20 mins outside Flagstaff and built our cabin. It was a dream come true for us. We hope your family enjoys this peaceful getaway as much as we have!
