The home is very close to the freeway, is noise an issue?

Answer: This home is located very close to I-5 which gives renters convenient access to anywhere they want to go. Noise from the freeway has never been an issue. The freeway has a sound barrier running between it and the street on the west side. The home is located facing the lake (west) away from the freeway and there is a row of houses between the freeway and the house. I am a light sleeper and lived there for 5 yrs and it has never been an issue.

Do you have suggestions for where to go, what to see and where to eat?

Answer: When you book our property we will provide you with tons of information about Seattle and the Eastlake Neighborhood. There is also a binder located at the home that contains tons of information (including restaurants that deliver!) and renters are welcome to add their own recommendations to this book. We will help you make the most of your visit to the area and we are on call to answer any questions that may come up!!!

About the neighborhood: Eastlake

Today, Eastlake is the product of its history along with hard work by its citizens to establish street end parks, the latest of which is the Fairview/Olmsted Park, to plant street trees, and bring public art to the neighborhood. In 1998, the Seattle City Council adopted the Eastlake Neighborhood Plan, prepared by a committee of local residents, business, and property owners with lots of input from the neighborhood. In the future, local citizens hope the plan will guide them in their neighborhood improvements and guide the city in its decisions.

Eastlake is one of Seattle's oldest and best-defined neighborhoods. It is east of Lake Union (hence the name 'Eastlake'), south of University bridge, west of Interstate 5, and north of Mercer Street. With about 5,000 residents, Eastlake is a pleasant jumble of houseboats, single family homes, apartments, condos and small businesses. Over the past twenty years residents of Eastlake have worked hard to conserve the character of the neighborhood, plant street trees, to develop shoreline parks and points of interest along the shores of Lake Union, to install public art and to plan for transportation and future development through its neighborhood plan.

History of Eastlake: Eastlake became identifiable as a neighborhood in the 1890's. With the opening of the University Bridge in 1919, travel through Eastlake was encouraged. Residentially, Eastlake became a streetcar neighborhood of small apartments. Along the Lake, industrial uses grew up. Boeing's first factory was located at the foot of Roanoke Street. Houseboats began to move in and factories move out in the 40's and 50's. In 1962 the I-5 freeway came roaring through the neighborhood, defining Eastlake's eastern edge and changing the neighborhood forever. In the early 1970's, Eastlake was rediscovered and residents set about conserving it and added parks, trees, and public art in the 1980's.

Awesome weekend!

My friends and i went to go to the seahawks vs 49ers game and decided to rent Anne's town home for the weekend, and this place did not disappoint. Amazing view from the patio and slept 7 of us comfortably. It's close to bars and restaurants and only a few miles from downtown seattle. We will definitely be coming back. Thanksgiving Week 2014

Early in the spring, my wife and I asked my daughter where she would like to spend her 30th birthday. With no hesitation, she and her boyfriend chose Seattle. As we had previously had positive experiences with vrbo, we scanned a number of rentals and were very impressed with this property. And from our very first contact with Anne, we have had overwhelming responses to any our our questions or concerns. For example, my daughter has celiac disease and it can be difficult to find gluten free products, especially for something like a birthday cake. Anne sent a link to the nearest Whole Foods store as well as a link to a totally gluten free bakery, complete with driving directions and approximate time to get there. Best of all, it was just a few minutes on the other side of the lake, on the way to the zoo. So don't hesitate to contact Anne with any worry you have.
As to the property, it is exactly as described. Take a look at the youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4xoZC-E7OY) and you should get a great idea of what to expect. The stairs can be a little tiring, as we are ranch level dwellers, but the separation of the sleeping quarters, master on the top level and two other bedrooms on the lower, provide the best degree of privacy for families with teenagers or young children. We cooked a Thanksgiving dinner at the condo and we lacked for very little to be able to do so. Loved the gas cooktop! And as far as things to do, Anne has baskets of brochures that describe a lot of what Seattle has to offer and bus stops are close by. If you don't want to walk a couple of blocks downhill to main stops, there is another on the opposite side of the condo, just about a hundred feet away that goes downtown.Views from the master suite are spectacular and although it was cloudy most of the time, it is Seattle after all, on our last day the sun came breaking out and there was a beautiful view of a mountain range covered with snow. So don't hesitate to book this property early, as it fills up quickly, and we hope to come back soon. Thanks Anne!

Perfect Location and Layout of Home

This was our first trip to Seattle....to attend a family wedding. We picked this location as it seemed to be an easy access to all the places in Seattle we wanted to see, plus it had enough room for the 5 of us to be comfortable and together vs staying in a downtown hotel.
The layout of the house was perfect.....and the best part of all was the garage on the first level. It RAINED 90% of the 5 days we were there and it was wonderful to be able to pull right into the garage and then enter the house dry and happy....and not have to worry about parking and trudging through the downpours! Our 85 year od mother was with us and she was able to navigate the stairs to her bedroom level and the great room level. We each had enough space for privacy, yet get together for family time.
The townhome was clean and all the descriptions on the vrbo site were spot-on. Anne had done a great job of communicating with us, so gaining access was easy. She had also complied a good list of activities/eateries that were nearby.
Our favorite place to eat breakfast was right down the hill at the 14 Carrot Cafe. We ate there every morning and always had the most delicious meals. We all agreed that this was our favorite place to eat while we were in Seattle. What a hidden gem.
Getting to all the downtown tourist places was easy....either pick up the interstate which was a minute away or go down the hill to the lake and then head into downtown (the quick scenic route). This is what we did because we loved seeing the housebots and then watching the sea planes take off.
We would love to come back to Seattle when the sun is shining to take advantage of all the outdoor activites/places we missed and we will definately contact Anne again to rent her lovely home.

Perfect town home and location!

This is beautiful home and in a great location. We rode the train from Portland and had a very inexpensive cab ride to the house. The house has beautiful views, is steps from the bus stop, convenience stores, coffee shops, etc. I want to come back in the summer for baseball games. The owners have been very easy to work with and have a ton of helpful tips to enjoy your stay. We don't have any little ones, but they have everything here for families with young children.

Lovely home, great amenities

We had a great stay at Anne’s wonderful house in the Lake Union neighborhood. The owner went above and beyond by adding the sports entertainment cable package for us. Over 150 channels so that on our 1 gray day in Seattle we could watch our games/movies. There are many restaurants within walking distance so it made going out to eat easy with no worries about driving or parking. I would definitely stay here again!

The Perfect Townhouse All Around

We found this townhouse absolutely delightful. The owners were very helpful,the location was perfect, we had plenty of room and the view was fantastic. Our family stopped by because we were all here for my daughters wedding and everyone could not get over how lovely and convenient this place was. We would rent here again next time we are in town.

The home was purchased as my primary residence and then later converted to a vacation rental. The view was the reason I bought the house... instantly it made me feel like I was on vacation and I had to have it. The location is great! The EastLake Neighborhood has many wonderful Restaurants and shops. There are always events going on close by. I love how the on and off ramp for I-5 is so close but you don't hear the freeway noise. It's close to downtown but you aren't kept up all night by the noise of downtown. Eastlake is a community in Seattle, Washington that lies between the eastern shore of Lake Union and the western side of I-5. Eastlake Avenue bisects the neighborhood running one and a half miles, from the length of the University Bridge at the north end to the Fairview Eastlake intersection at the south end.

Nearest Airport : Seatac International Airport at 16 Miles Nearest Ferry : Lake Union Water Taxi at 2.4 Miles Nearest Train : Amtrack station at 3.3 Miles Nearest Motorway : I-5 north on ramp at 0.2 Miles Nearest Beach : Lynn Street Park (Lake front) at 0.3 Miles Car: not necessary

The reason for the amazing view is because this home is located on top of a hill overlooking the wonderful Eastlake neighborhood. Closest cross streets are Boylston Ave E & E Lynn Street. Eastlake is on the east side of Lake Union which is located directly north of downtown.

The location is perfect for exploring Seattle and the surronding areas! It is very close to on and off ramps for I-5 North and South. The neighborhood itself doesn't have much traffic but has all kinds of transportation options. When you book this rental I include insider information into what to do and see while you are in Seattle!

Personally I like visiting the small park at the end of the street where you can sit and enjoy Lake Union, The houseboats and the beautiful artwork. I love all the small lesser known parks in the Seattle area, ask me about them. The Woodland Park Zoo is not far away and this is always a favorite spot for the kids! I like to walk around Pike Place Market and go play at Gas Works Park. Seattle has many amazing Theatres including The Paramount, The Showbox and many others.
