VooDoo Fest Tourists

  • 5 of 5
My six friends and I rented this house for our vacation to New Orleans for Halloween and Voodoo fest. The house is very close to central park where the festival was taking place and just a short cab ride to the French quarter. The house worked out perfect for our stay as there were 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the space was large that gave everyone space to relax which we would have not gotten from a hotel room.
The grocery store is just a short walk which was very helpful as we went there about once a day to save some money on food. Our overall experience at the house was very positive the home itself was clean and spacious. If we ever make it back down to NOLA we will definitely be renting this house again.

Picture Perfect!

  • 5 of 5
Our stay was wonderful! To be honest, I was very skepitcal about booking a home I've only seen on the internet so, when we opened the door we were very happy with what we saw. The house was clean, very up-dated, and the rooms were spacious. The area is very quiet. We are looking forward to staying again next year!

Owner's Response: Rhonda,

You and your guest totaling 12 women were great guest; I would welcome you all back to my house on any occasion.
I appreciate your Picture Perfect comment regarding the manner in which you received the property.
I must admit I was very pleased after your departure and I saw that you and your guest returned the house back in
Picture Perfect condition. It was cleaned by you and your guest; everything was properly in place, you all cleaned the kitchen and dishes; dirty linen was in the Laundry baskets, trash was disposed of properly in the trash bin. Best of all things, the house was returned undamaged. Clearly you all handled the house with a great deal of respect.

I really appreciated that very much especially, after the departure of my next guest of eight 8 women the following week end. Wow what a difference. I was shocked as to the contrasting difference.

after that, I really appreciated you and your guest even more.
I had to call you back again to thank you repeatedly for the respect you and your guest showed my house.
Be Blessed..!!
Thank you
James

RENTERS BEWARE!!!!

  • 1 of 5
I stayed here to celebrate my birthday with 8 other guests.
When calling about the property James asked me my age because he thought I was younger than my actual age.
After paying, I didn't get my confirmation with the address until the night before arriving to the property.
While on the phone with James the morning of arrival a structure on the property he's remodeling the roof callopsed. The backyard will be a hazard it small children are staying on the property.
At arrival the 1st impression of the home was nice and looked as it did on the website.
The Problems:
There was mold or mildrew on the ceiling of one of the bedrooms.
The home had a musk smell to it. James informed us the home was damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
The bathrooms didn't have shower curtains just small decorative fabric.
The home has spas tubs but the water pressure in both bathrooms were too weak to run a bath or take a really hot long shower.
The sleeper sofas were hard and uncomfortable. We used two mattresses on one sofa sleeper just to get comfortable.
My guest that were smokers smoked outside at all time, but were accused of smoking in the home.
Bring socks or flip flops because the hardwood floors are dirty and will have her feet black and that will then transfer to the tub.
Bring tissue and paper towels.
And detergent because there were only 2 in the home to wash towels.
At check out we gathered trash to ensure nothing was left. However, something was left and James nevered returned my call. I had to get someone else to call just for him to answer my questions.

Owner's Response: OWNERS BEWARE!!
In my opinion, VANDALISM: they displayed, DISRESPECTFUL, TRASHY, DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR!
She does not want to pay for her damages.

This house is NOT in a Ghetto! I will not allow you to treat it as such, coming from the Memphis/B area.
Latoya statements are Libelous I generally deny all of her claims; I specifically deny and state that there is no mold or mildew in the house, no musky smell and no collapsed roof.
I was HORRIFIED when I returned to the house; upon opening the door there was a Strong Chemical Smell that immediately hit me in the face.
They had turned the house into a HAIR SALON (Perms, Relaxers and Hair Dying). Well, I hope these were the only Chemicals they were using/ producing/ burning at the house. Her friend, a guest with her; she told me was her Beautician. I suspect there may have been a hair show going on at that time, Bobbie pins were everywhere; I have not determined that yet.
The Tub Bottom and sides were covered with a darkish black or brown color stain. The stain was hard and dried into the tub itself and would not come out. I was concerned that I would have to replace the tub. Heavy Duty Cleaners had to be used repeatedly over the course of an entire day to remove the dirty grime and dye left by these people in the tub. No one would have ever used the tub in that condition. There was some dye on the comforter and shower curtain too. There was trash piled up in the house; the towels and other dirty linen were all over on the floors, even though, there were two(2) laundry baskets in the house. The house was filled with Biting Flies, Gnats and Mosquitoes. I assume that they opened the doors wide for an extended period of time; attempting to get the Chemical fumes and smells out of the house; it did not work.
Worse, using Cigarettes, they Burned Holes in the table top of a brand new patio set! SHOCKING!
I spoke with her Sister, Olympia 2 times since they left. She Loved the house and said she felt very comfortable at the house; stated, she would gladly stay again. She admitted the stains were there in the tub and that she tried to clean it out herself, but, the stains would not come out. Also, she stated, that she did not know how the stains got there or who in their group caused the damages. Olympia offered to pay for the comforter (thank you for that show of character Olympia). Olympia also stated that there was no mold or mildew in the house. I believe that they may have smoked in the house, but, I’m not sure.

Essence Fest!!!

  • 5 of 5
My group and I had a marvelous time at the house in Lakeview. The pictures of the house on the website just do not do the house the justice that it deserves. The house is everything and more. We had all the comforts of our own homes in Atlanta. James was amazing from the beginning to the end. I appreciated the attention that James gave me in regards to us being comfortable in the house to where we could go and get some good seafood and do some shopping. The house was so convenient to it all. It seem like everywhere we wanted to go was always just 10 minutes away. I look forward to my next trip to New Orleans and I will always want to stay at the Williamson House. My group and I would like to thank James for being such a wonderful person to have in our corner for this adventure. I can hardly wait for the next one.

Home Sweet Home!

  • 5 of 5
My stay with my friends and family at the Williamson House was one of the best vacations. The house was literally 8 minutes away from downtown new orleans and you can take the trolley whichever way you like. I personally just walked through downtown french quarters, bourbon st, Frenchman st and the Market! The house is close enough but also far enough to avoid the hustle and bustle it felt like I was home. The beds were so comfortable and the decor and updates of house we're beautiful. The locale of the house was ideal grocery shopping was close by also need to try ACME SEAFOOD it's amazing! Don't forget Landry's! James Thank you for recommending these locations because they were our favorite meals when we were there. Landry's best seat to the lake while eating outside you can feel the breeze running through your while eating their heavenly tasty food. It was located about a 2 min drive. I could not get enough. I highly recommend the Williamson House rental I will definitely use this location when I come back to new orleans. Again James Thank you so much you did a wonderful job on this home we all thank you for letting us stay there.

Great Stay in New Orleans!

  • 5 of 5
I rented the house from the Kenilworth Group with a group of nine, and we had a great visit from start to finish. The owner was very helpful from the beginning of the process to the very end. I had several questions before even confirming the rental, and the owner was responsive and helpful during several different phone calls leading up to the rental.

I was skeptical about renting this house at first because of some of the negative reviews posted on VRBO, but I am glad I did. After renting from the owner I believe the negative comments are totally off-base and are probably just from people who can't do anything without complaining.

My group of friends was met by the owner when arriving at the house at the beginning of the rental. He showed them the house and made suggestions for local places to eat and visit. The house was well stocked with cookware, glasses, etc. The house had plenty of space for our group of nine. Since there were no couples in the group, several of us slept comfortably on various couches in the house. The owner provided plenty of pillows and blankets to accomodate. The house has been recently remodeled with nice finishes including granite, finished concrete and hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, etc. The house also has a gas cooktop which is a definite bonus. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Our group spent most of our time in New Orleans either downtown or in the French Quarter, and had no problem getting back-and-forth using cabs. A single rider cab fare was roughly $15-17, while many cab drivers charged us a flat rate of $5 per person when taking the larger group; very reasonable. It was typically about a 10 minute ride.

Thank you for a great experience, I would definitely rent from this owner again!
