Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths

Refined & Rustic 3 bedroom 2 full bath cabin within a 5 minute walking distance to the ski lifts, zoo, and golf course - and at great rates.

Sit in the large private spa and looking up at the beautiful mountain view in the day time, or at night with the beautiful star filled skies.

There's no shortage of other comforts. A gas BBQ grill out back, natural stone fireplace, full kitchen, bar, a 55' tv with cable, pool table, air hockey and ping pong in the great room.

Near to recreational Big Bear Lake for fishing, boating, & jet skiing, with restaurants, rentals, shopping centers, movie theatres just down the road, but out of sight of this cute cabin in the trees set back from the road.

Winter is a great time for your family or ski party to discover Bear Mountain Chalet. Its quaint chalet exterior and 600 sqf deck that wraps around the house, is a vivid contrast to the snow that covers the wide open spaces that separate the chalet from neighboring cabins. Hand carved wooden bears all around the decks that the kids can sit on, and the mountain provides privacy for the large spa in the back.

Set back far from Deer Canyon Road, Bear Mountain Chalet will make you feel like you have stepped back 50 years to a more serene Big Bear before it was discovered by Southern California as the perfect alternative to Aspen or Vale. Imagine walking to the ski lifts at Bear Mountain Resort without having to rise at dawn to find a parking space in the resort's main parking lot. No longer will you have to be herded like cattle in those open flat-bed trucks from distant auxiliary lots. You can also walk to the nearby Moonridge Animal Park to visit the inhabitants of the surrounding San Bernardino National Forest.

Step inside its original diamond-paned front door and you will be in the spacious Bear Mountain Chalet great room. It features T&G wood ceilings, supported by large, rugged beams and a very large natural stone fireplace. You'll also find a huge 55' flat-screen television, with access to numerous cable channels. For the game players, there's a pool table, air hockey, and ping pong. A large glass door take up one wall of the great room and lead out to the large back deck with its spa, and BBQ, private sledding hill and private mountain views.

Also part of the great room is the dining area and the fully-equipped kitchen. Let Mom relax in front of the large, flat-screen TV with a glass of wine while Dad and the older kids prepare dinner. You can even keep one eye on the young ones, who will want to head outdoors whenever they can. The mountain views are right outside the kitchen windows.

There's also a 15 foot bar and barstools if night time activities and entertaining are what your after.

When it's time for the rest of your family or group to bunk down after an active day, Bear Mountain Chalet can sleep 8 adults three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a luxurious queen-size bed, with a view overlooking the and spa and mountain. There's also a large wall mounted flat screen tv and cable, and an ipod hook up for your music. The second bedroom contains another queen sized bed. The third bedroom has four pine bunk beds, that will delight the kids.

There's probably some guests who couldn't come up the mountain without a laptop, or have to do some real work to make the trip tax-deductible. High-speed Internet access is available throughout the cabin. There is ample parking on the huge circular driveway and two more parking spaces at the top of the driveway, so you can fit lots of cars, boats, trailers, RV's or whatever you need.

Summer has hiking, fishing and every other activity a forrest provides.

For mountain bikers, you can ride over to Bear Mountain and ride the chair lifts to the top of the mountain with your bike, and then bike down.

The kids will love Bear Mountain Chalet as much as the adults.

So what's keeping you from booking this bargain cabin? There's no excuse not to give your family or best friends a well-deserved ski 'n' snowboarding, or fishing getaway to Big Bear Lake with Bear Mountain Chalet -- all polished to perfection -- as your home base.

We're also pet friendly.

About the Owner

We're a couple that loves to be active. Ski, snowboard, hike, fish, travel, spend time with family...anything and everything. We both grew up in the mountains and love everything they have to offer.

We needed to get away one weekend, and realized that Big Bear was close to LA, so we went for a weekend to sit in the hot tub and read, hike, and just relax. We fell in love with it and were looking for a home the very next day.

Great way to relax in the mountains!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5
When my husband and two boys arrived we were really looking for a cabin that we could feel relaxed in. We walked in the front door and it was just perfect!!! Our boys could run up and down the hill in the back and we knew they were safe. They could even walk to the zoo while my husband and I sat in the hot tub. The air hockey as a great way to have the kids busy while making dinner. We all would take long walks around the neighborhood and come back for a fire and rent a movie. So relaxing and just a great get-a-away. Thanks again

Awesome Cabin

  • 5 of 5
Charming cabin! I brought my wife and kids for the week and it was so much fun. The price was amazing and it was perfect for our kids. We hardly left the house because it was so comfortable and our kids were entertained by the games amenities. We especially loved the beautiful deck and hot tub. The house had everything we needed and we will definitely visit again. Thank you so much for a great trip!

Fantastic home, beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5
I took my girlfriend to Big Bear for her birthday and found this home online. She was really excited when we pulled up, the home looks great compared to others as you drive through Big Bear. It has a lot of character and she liked how it was set back from the road.

Once we got inside we set up the kitchen with all our food and viewed the hot tub and deck which looked amazing. We spent every night sitting in it after a day of exploring then going back inside to light a fire and make dinner, only to go back out to the hot tub later. It was so relaxing and the accommodations were great for the price. The home was very clean and everything functioned well. We slept great there, the air is clean and it was very peaceful and quiet compared to Los Angeles.

We are both in our 50's, well traveled and we have stayed at all kinds of hotels and vacation rentals for the last 5 years. This home just has a unique character that you can't find many places and it's private and quiet. My girlfriend said we are going back for my birthday in the summer. I look forward to it.

Grundgy party cabin

  • 2 of 5
We were expecting swank and top notch relaxation at this cabin- but that's not what this cabin is for. I can imagine it perfect for a big group of frat partiers- not a honeymoon couple looking for romance as we are. I contacted the manager and let them know we were coming on a honeymoon-- did he mention the leaky shower and 1960's carpeting? No. No firewood (sorry I didn't read the millions of fine print in the millions of pages of rules-- when ALL the pictures show a loaded fire stack and roaring fire). no directions on heater use, and literally the OLDESTS and pretty gross showers I've used in a long time. Looks like we'll be stuck spending most of our honeymoon outdoors rather than inside this grundgy run down cabin. Ps- hottub is NOT private. There are HELLA neighbors who can see right into the deck and hottub. This cabin's pictures are ALL about the angles. Pay a little more for something nicer for sure!

Owner's Response: I'm very sorry you didn't have the experience you had hoped for. But I know when you shop around, you will find that it's one of the nicest rental homes on the mountain for the price range. The cabin is very clean and inspected every time by the management staff and cleaning staff before every guest checks in.

Also, as an act of good faith that we would never want to deceive anyone, I have posted a panorama photograph of the back yard and hot tub, to show all of the angles. I will let the viewers judge for themselves how private it actually is.

Congratulations on your marriage and best wishes for the future.

Walk to ski, beautiful, quiet, HOT TUB!!!!!

  • 5 of 5
The house is amazing. It was so quiet and peaceful. The decorations are really cozy, and comfortable. It's a few minutes walk to the ski lifts which was so great to not have to hassle with all the insane parking. And the private outdoor hot tub in the snow was all time. We'll be back lots more. Thank you!!!!!

Some upgrades needed

  • 2 of 5
I will say our group had a good time overall. There are just some issues that I would like to point out. There is a serious lack of towels. The cabin accommodates up to 8-9 but we were given exactly 6 towels and 2 hand towels. The towels are small and very starchy. So everyone had to keep track of their own towel all weekend and share. There were also no dish towels in the entire cabin. When you wash your hands or do the dishes in the kitchen you had to use paper towels and there was only one roll of paper towels provided. Needless to say that ran out quickly. The master bedroom has an amazing bed...Very comfy. But the other 2 rooms makes the haves/have nots game very evident. The second room had a queen bed that was like bedrock (not just firm but bedrock). My advice is to buy a memory foam topper if you can't upgrade the mattress. It gave us all back pain plus it is hard to sleep a full night when you move and notice your arm is asleep or your back is in pain. Lastly, the curtains in the 2nd and 3rd bedroom do not fit the entire window so we had to drape the towels over the windows so no one could see in while changing and sleeping.

The TV is great for watching the games
Air hockey table is fun
fireplace is beautiful
Outside deck is amazing but there is no furniture to sit on
location is nice

Overall, I would find a different cabin to rent in the future. Perhaps if the price was lowered many of these issues could be overlooked by some.

Owner's Response: Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay as much as the others. But we've addressed your concerns and replaced all the curtains as they were damaged by previous renters. And you can always call us for more towels and we will bring them right away.

From the Owner

We chose this particular house because if it's privacy and quiet. It's set back from the street, and has wide open views of the mountain with a totally private back yard and nothing but forrest that you can see behind it. But it's a short walk to everything. One look and we fell in love. We spend as much time as we can there, and when the nephews come, they lose their minds.

From the Owner

It's romantic, it's quiet, it's private and the views are fantastic. You can sit in silence and do nothing, or go non stop with every activity known to man. Winter is beautiful and has every snow activity, summer is warm, and offers an entirely new catalog of things to do.
