Bermuda Style At Its Best!

Camden Inn is a charming Bermuda home set in a lovely garden setting. The former family home of Mrs. Wilma Birdsey, the wife of well-known Bermudian artist Mr. Alfred Birdsey, Camden contains many traditional Bermudian architectural features combined with modern conveniences. Hardwood floors throughout most of the house, some of which are Bermuda cedar; cedar windows and beams; walls decorated with Bermuda paintings and Bermuda maps; high ceilings and large, bright and airy rooms all combine to create a peaceful and inviting ambience.

The Inn contains three bedrooms, all of which have private baths. The kitchen contains a fridge, stove, dishwasher and icemaker, as well as a number of handy small appliances which can be used to enhance your “home away from home” experience. The baths are equipped with hand-held showerheads as well as overhead showers for your refreshment and convenience. In addition, guests will have use of the well-appointed living room, entrance room and dining room. Laundry facilities are also available for guest use.

The grounds are quite extensive, allowing for fun outdoor games or just relaxing. The pool is surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna, for privacy and enjoyment. Pool towels are available for guest use.

Each of the bedrooms has a theme reflected in its furnishing and accessories. The Charity Suite is otherwise referred to as the “Bermuda Collection” suite, as the bedspread and the window treatments are made of a fabric known as the Newstead Bermuda collection, designed by Waverly fabrics. This room has a half tester bed with a wonderful overhead half canopy. The second bedroom - the Hope room - is also known as the “Bermuda Blue” room, with lovely fabrics and paintings that reflect the beauty of Bermuda’s skies and seas. Two twin beds or a king size bed are available in this room. The Joy room or the “Bermuda Sunshine” room reflects the brightness of the Bermuda landscape. This is a peaceful retreat for one person with a nice size single bed. The Charity suite includes an en-suite bathroom, while the other two rooms have their own private baths near the rooms. The amenities in each room will include cable television, DVD player and wireless internet, as well as reverse cycle air-conditioning. A wide selection of DVDs is provided for relaxation and entertainment.

Amazing vacation home!

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 5 adults and one toddler enjoyed a wonderful week at the lovely Camden Inn, in Somerset, Sandys, Bermuda. The home is spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. The 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms gave each of us space for privacy, and the large living room, dining room, porch, and pool patio allowed for family times. The pool was a real bonus to this property, and we enjoyed many late afternoon and evening swims after our beach time.

Cheryl-Ann, the landlord, and her dog MJ, welcomed us warmly, and provided us with breakfast foods, muffins, bread, fruit, and juices in the pantry and refrigerator. She even took us to the grocery store upon our arrival, gave us a brief tour of the town, and provided us bus tickets for our first day in Bermuda. Her friendly help continued throughout our stay, and she even purchased some items to better accommodate our family. Housekeeping was provided a few times during the week, including clean towels and sheets!

This house is conveniently located to everything! The bus stops are only a short walk from the house, and you can ride to the Dockyards (10 min.), or to many beaches. From the Dockyards, a delightful 20-minute ferry ride takes you into Hamilton, or 40 minutes to St. Georges. We especially enjoyed Warwick Long Bay beach and Jobson's Cove, a much quieter alternative to Horseshoe Bay!

Wonderful Property!

  • 5 of 5
We traveled with our two boys, ages 20 and 16, and we all loved our stay at the Camden Inn. The property along with the owner's hospitality exceeded our expectations. We each had our own cozy, air conditioned bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The owner, Cheryl-Ann, was so kind to initially stock the kitchen and refrig with necessities. She also provided some bus passes along with beach towels, chairs, a cooler, and even rain ponchos so that we could immediately begin to experience beautiful Bermuda. The attention to the cleanliness and details of the home was outstanding. The property has all the conveniences needed to truly make it a home away from home. Also, the grocery store, restaurants, and the bus stop are all just a short walk away. The property and the owner's attention to making her guests feel welcomed and comfortable throughout the stay will definitely bring us back to Bermuda and the Camden Inn.

A Beautiful Place to rest!

  • 5 of 5
Our Family had a warm and welcoming stay. We have rented many houses over the years but no one has been so giving and thoughtful. Thank you Cheryl Anne for everything from eggs to help with transportation. We had great adventures everyday but came back to peace and quiet at night. We will always dream of Camden Inn and hope to return soon.

Very clean, well maintained, close to bus stops

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful holiday.

The house is large, and full of antiques. The garden is huge but we did not get to sit out as it rained a good bit. (The rain did not stop our Bermuda adventures just our sitting in the garden) The kitchen was stocked with everything we might possibly need, not just the usual milk, bread and cheese. The freezer was full of homemade breads and muffins and the frig had cold drinks, yogurt, eggs and more.

The owner is a delight, we enjoyed talking with her. She is very friendly, helpful, and has a great laugh. She went out of her way to make our holiday memorable and we do thank her.

Buses and a grocery market are close. But beware there are lots of hills in Bermuda. We were in much better shape when we left than when we arrived.

It is a beautiful island and we hope to return.

I would recommend this rental to a friend.

Camden Inn - A 5 Star Property

  • 5 of 5
The property was clean and well maintained. It was a very nice property. I travel 40 weeks out of the year for work and another 6 for vacation. The Camden was not like being in a hotel. It was like being at home.

While the property was very nice, the owner was absolutely amazing. She provided items for breakfast and kitchen was nicely stocked. The owner was very friendly and extremely helpful. Whenever I needed help during my visit, she was available to assist. The owner's daughter was very helpful and she was an amazing young woman. And then there was MJ. MJ was the second cutest and the second most adorable dog in the world. My dog Blu is the first.

I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative. I would definitely stay at this property again.

The activities that I enjoyed most was hanging out at the property while studying for my final exams. I enjoyed visiting the Dockyard area, and Hamilton. The light house was interesting. Hanging out at the Camden Inn was absolutely the best part of the visit.

The owner does a wonderful job assuring that the guest are comfortable. The property is a very well maintained, nicely decorated, centrally located property.

Great Property

  • 5 of 5
We were a family of 4 that stayed for 4 nights. The property was quite adequate for our needs. Cheryl the owner was quite attentive to our needs. The kitchen was very well stocked and we only needed to go to the grocery store a short walk away to pick up a few things. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the bedrooms all had a/c. The property is about a 50 min ride from the airport and along the way the driver stopped by the post office for us to buy bus passes which were quite convenient. I would not recommend renting the mopeds as the roads are quite narrow and curvy. The swimming pool at the property was great. We walked to the Cambridge Beaches Resort, took about 10 min and also there was h2o water sports, we did the jet ski tour, fabulous! Overall we enjoyed our stay at this property and would highly recommend.

Notes:

  • One of the distinctions for the parish of Sandys is the easy access to the public transportation and the proximity to Naval Dockyard. The Dockyard was established by the British in the 1820’s to provide a re-provisioning base for the navy. The extraordinary buildings have been refurbished and converted into museums, shops and cafes on a promontory that has a commanding view of the entire island. A visit to Bermuda would not be complete without seeing and experiencing Dockyard.
