Free-standing cottage - studio with 1 bath (sleeps 2)

Small Space, Big Style, Modernist Sensibility. Tucked into a lush courtyard, this cottage in Seattle’s renowned Harvard-Belmont Historic District is a charming little gem.

The 320-square foot cottage contains a queen-size bed and accommodates two guests. There is a well-appointed kitchen, three-quarter bath, washer and dryer, secure wi-fi connection, wood-burning fireplace and dimmable lights throughout. When the sun is shining, the gazebo in the courtyard is the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

Dedicated off-street parking allows you to leave your car and explore Capitol Hill on foot. Within a half mile you will find espresso bars, hand-forged donuts, a ramen shop, fine dining, an independent movie theater, a public library, gas, groceries and tree-lined streets of gracious, early 20th century homes. The neighborhood boasts the city’s only residential Landmark District, which is featured on numerous architectural walking tours. The location on the west slope of Capitol Hill also makes this cottage convenient to the vibrant South Lake Union neighborhood, home to the Museum of History and Industry, the Center for Wooden Boats, the REI flagship store, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

About the Owner

Hello! We are Erik and Pamela, both natives of the Pacific Northwest. After meeting in Seattle, we moved to New York and Washington, D.C. and eventually decided to return home in 2008. We love fussing over details relating to this vacation rental, when we are not working at our day jobs as an environmental attorney and residential real estate broker/freelance photographer We adore biking, skiing, fishing and trading notes with pretty much anyone on the vibrant restaurant scenes in Seattle, Portland and Vancouver B.C. We also love renovating homes (we are on our fifth in 11 years). There's just something addictive about the process of creating something personal, beautiful and functional for us, our friends and our guests to enjoy. We thought we received the highest compliment ever when one of our contractors asked if he could bring his wife to stay at the cottage for their anniversary.

The Perfect Stay

This beautiful cottage was absolutely perfect in every way. Cozy, warm, stylish and conveniently located. It was exactly what we were hoping for. It had everything we needed and then some. My favorite was the heated towel rack!

Gorgeous cottage in a suburb area

From the moment we arrived at the cottage we were immediately impressed with the cleanliness, the thoughtful touches and comfortable additions throughout the cottage. Location was perfect and we happily walked to most locations (especially to the donut store down the street!) We really didn't need the car! Thankyou, Erik. Highly recommended!

Truly a Home away from Home

We stayed in Erik and Pam's perfect cottage for a week while we visited Seattle. This place is beautiful, and the best use of a small amount of space that I've ever experienced. Sunny, bright and beautifully decorated, we ended up spending more time staying in than exploring Seattle! Erik and Pam provided anything that a weary traveller could possibly need/had forgotten (tea, ear plugs, comb, etc). The location as well was perfect, a very easy walk to Capitol Hill. The terrace outside is a wonderful place for a charming dinner of foods that you've bought at the incredible and nearby farmer's market. Erik was wonderfully knowledgeable and gave us tons of suggestions (most of which we ended up taking!) around the area. Thanks, Erik and Pam! We look forward to when we can stay there again!

A (tiny) dream home—come true!

  • 5 of 5
Erik and Pamela were the nicest and most welcoming hosts! Even though they were temporarily displaced and farther away than they would have usually been, they were always available if we needed them and made sure the greet us when they could.

We absolutely LOVED what they did with the small space. It was like living in a (tiny) dream home—come true! It's tastefully decorated, warm, and has just the right amount of everything. We loved the high quality details from the flooring and furniture down to the dishes and heated towel rack. The courtyard was also beautiful, especially looking at it through the large glass doors. Even on rainy days it was beckoning us to have our morning coffee outside. Their DVD and book collection was also fun to browse. Honestly, we spent a few days indoors just enjoying the rental more than the city we came to visit!

The location is within walking or bus-riding distance of everything we wanted to visit (or eat). The view from the top of the hill toward the lake is beautiful and just a short walk away is Top Pot Doughnuts and a clear view of the Space Needle. A short walk in the opposite direction is full of nice little eateries and shops.

We'd absolutely love to stay here every visit to Seattle we make, if you'll have us! Thank you so very much for sharing your space with us travelers.

Absolutely perfect!

The cottage is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. Great ceiling height, great light, great layout, and really cool furniture (including a wicked comfortable Saarinen womb chair). It is a wonderful place to stay; a short walk to great coffee shops, fine dining, movies, and groceries, and a pleasant half hour walk to Pike Market. The place is spotlessly clean and the bed was more comfortable than the one I have at home. It was a bit chilly during our stay, so the fireplace and the Duraflame logs were a welcome perk. The parking spot came in handy for our rental car, which we used infrequently, as we had all we needed within walking distance. The owner is incredibly friendly and responsive to inquiries, and has a great design sense. We will definitely stay here again during future visits if it is available. Some local suggestions: best latte - Espresso Vivace, best donuts - Top Pot, best lunch spot - Taylor Shellfish - all a short walk from this beautiful oasis.

This apartment is just as adorable as the photos. It was in a wonderful location in Capitol Hill and a <1 mile walk to several restaurants, coffee shops and a grocery store. I attended a conference at the Convention Center and had an enjoyable walk there every day (1.2miles), although a bus is available that takes you right there. The books at the cottage were great and there were spices for cooking with. Would definitely recommend this and stay here again. :)
