Large and Gracious New Orleans 3 Bedroom in the Garden District

Property Details

Updated: May 24, 2015
3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 2 Convertible beds, Sleeps 10

This large and gracious apartment has the feel of old New Orleans, but with all modern amenities. The large eat-in kitchen was updated only a few years ago, with granite counters and stainless appliances. All 3 bathrooms were updated as well. The spacious entry hall, large dining room, and comfortable living room, with original hardwood floors and 14ft ceilings, make it is a truly delightful place to get together with friends and family.

We are only a short block from the St. Charles Streetcar, walking distance to Commander's Palace and Magazine Street, and just a short streetcar ride from the French Quarter. There is also plenty of free street parking!

Please note: This nearly 3000 sq ft apartment is on the second floor of a mid-1800's mansion with a grand staircase going up to the second floor.

In order to properly clean and prepare the units for all guests, we ask that you please adhere to the check-in time of 4pm and check-out time of 11am. If you need a place to put your bags, you may drop them off as early as 2pm on check-in day and pick them up by 2pm on check-out day. Thank you for your cooperation.

About the Owner

Welcome, Monsieur, sit yourself down

And meet the best innkeeper in town.

As for the rest, all of 'em crooks:

Rooking their guests and crooking the books.

Seldom do you see

Honest men like me,

A gent of good intent

Who's content to be

Master of the house, doling out the charm

Ready with a handshake and an open palm.

Tells a saucy tale, makes a little stir,

Customers appreciate a bon-viveur.

Glad to do a friend a favor.

Doesn't cost me to be nice,

But nothing gets you nothing.

Everything has got a little price!

Master of the house, keeper of the zoo,

Ready to relieve 'em of a sou or two.

Watering the wine, making up the weight

Pickin' up their knick-knacks when they can't see straight,

Everybody loves a landlord,

Everybody's bosom friend.

I do whatever pleases.

Jesus! Won't I bleed 'em in the end!

Master of the house, quick to catch yer eye,

Never wants a passerby to pass him by.

Servant to the poor, butler to the great,

Comforter, philosopher, and lifelong mate!

Everybody's boon companion

Everybody's chaperone

But lock up your valises.

Jesus! Won't I skin you to the bone!

Fantastic Stay during Mardi Gras

  • 5 of 5
Ten of us stayed at this property during Mardi Gras 2015, and it was great - perfect location, beautiful house, and a wonderful city. The main bedroom with a private bathroom is right off the main living room, close to the kitchen and front of the house. The other bedrooms are in the very back and more secluded, down the long hallway. Had a great washer and dryer and was more than comfortable to house 10 people for a week. The property was very clean and well maintained when we arrived.
I loved that this house had key-less entry so that we didn't have to worry about keys and coordinating between people. We were only a block away from the parade route so it was easy to run back and refill drinks or use the bathroom.
During carnival season it's hard to get taxis, but it was very easy to find great food and shopping around Magazine Street. We also loved brunch at Commander's Palace which was a 5 minute walk away and Parasol's po-boys. Walking to the Quarter takes about 30 minutes. I also highly recommend Cochon Butcher - a 15-20 minute walk from the house.
My only complaints were that there was a shortage of paper towels/toilet paper in supply (we easily went to the store to buy more), and the water pressure in the showers is a bit low. Otherwise, I had a fantastic stay in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and would definitely love to come back!

Planning a Return Visit Already

We rented this whole house including the 1-bdrm and 2-bdrm suites for a one-week workshop and we will book it again. When you are reserving a space like this sight unseen and having paying clients come to stay, there is always a bit of apprehension. While the stay was not trouble-free, I don't look for perfection but I do look for people who are good at communicating and do everything they can to work things out for their guests. I have to say Lauren, the manager, was attentive and responsive with the issues we had including coordinating various arrival dates into the different spaces we had booked.

The biggest issue we had was with the heating during what was by all accounts, a very cold spell in NOLA. The main part of the house could not heat up beyond 57 degrees F and we had to supplement it with plug-in heaters which we did not know were hidden in the closet until we had spent one night in freezing temperatures. There are also wall air-conditioning units that can be used as heaters. Once we got those working, the house heated up nicely. The other issue is with the door key codes. There was a mix-up with the codes in the communications and also once we were there but it was all sorted out very quickly.

The pictures do not do justice to the space. This is a grand house with a sweeping staircase and elegant main rooms that have been tastefully decorated. It was a very comfortable space for a group of people and a well-equipped kitchen that was sadly under used but not next time. The dining room had a large table which was perfect for group discussions and the living room had comfortable seating for more intimate conversations.

The bedrooms were all comfortable especially the main bedroom off the living room which was palatial in size and decor. It has its own private bathroom. The second bedroom at the end of the hallway was cozy and more private. The third bedroom was also at the end of the main hallway and there was a living room space which has a sofa bed. The sofa bed could do with an upgrade to one with a proper mattress but it is fine for kids. There was no floor plan and I didn't realize you have to walk through this space to get to the third bedroom. If you are booking for a workshop like I was, it would have been good to know this.

I booked the entire house and will leave a review on the other two spaces if you are interested in hearing about them too. Thanks Lauren for your help. Look forward to seeing you again!

Perfect NOLA stay!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here with our two grown boys and their spouses. Tons of privacy for all. Each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. Super clean. Great kitchen; everything you could possibly need. Nice bedding too. Right off of St. Charles and super close to the streetcar stop. Great location. My only problem (and this is probably just me) was that the windows don't open. The window that goes out onto the balcony is the only one that opens, so I really don't know what it would be like in warmer weather. Or if you are a fresh-air freak like me. There is an air conditioner. If stairs are a problem for you, then keep looking. (Lots of stairs) But seriously folks, this is a terrific place to stay and reasonably priced. Don't even hesitate for a minute. We would rent it again in a heartbeat! Many thanks Joe and Lauren for being so accessible and nice! This made our trip to NOLA fun and convenient!

Great place!

Location is ideal. Very convenient for getting to everything. Plenty of room for our group of 8 adults. Our only disadvantage was that everything was upstairs. We thought that it would be living area down and bedrooms up. Other than that the place worked out great.

Absolutely amazing...

I visited the house with a group of 7 friends: 3 couples and 2 singles. There was MORE than enough space in the house for everyone to feel comfortable and not feel like they were on top of each other.

It was beautifully decorated. For the price, I was surprised by the quality of the furniture. There is no cheap furniture, it is so elegantly decorated.

The is great for group breakfasts and a great place to gather and convene.

The owners and property manager have literally thought of everything. From the labels on the drawers that house the sheets to the sofa beds to the coffee filters and spices, to blenders for morning sangria and waffle makers!!!. There is everything you need to feel perfectly at home in the house, and purchase very little other than the food you need for the trip.

I was so pleased to learn that the house is as beautiful if not more than the pictures. The property manager and owner are so accommodating. Our party was leaving at different times, and they had another check in the day we checked out, but she offered to store our bags so we didnt have to lug them around.

The next time I am in New Orleans, we will definitely be renting this house. I loved everything about this house. The Garden District is a great area, and the house is right off the trolley.

Thank you guys so much for contributing to our trip and really making the stay in New Orleans extra special
