House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This beautiful 3 Bedroom/2 Bath Riverfront home is conveniently located one mile west of downtown Guerneville. With its location directly on the north bank of the scenic Russian River, you'll enjoy panoramic river views from the house, deck and back yard.

Enjoy a game of badminton in our spacious sunny upper back yard, or stroll down a gently sloped path to the riverfront lower lawn and lounge in the hammock or one of our Adirondacks. Our large Private Dock and secluded location on the deep side of the river will allow you to enjoy a swim or kayak without the crowds of the local beaches. We provide a canoe and 3 kayaks (2 single, 1 tandem) and a canoe for seasonal use (spring, summer, and fall - weather permitting) and life jackets so your entire group can go paddling together.

When the sun goes down, you'll appreciate the finer points of our home, including updated appliances, furniture, linens, a Weber gas BBQ grill, and more. With beautiful vaulted ceilings and views of the river, the Spacious Kitchen is ideal for entertaining (dining table seats 8).

Big and small kids alike will love the foos ball table, ping pong table, large collection of board games and our 46' HDTV. At the end of the day, take a soak in the hot tub or curl up with a book in front of the wood burning fireplace. Truly as good as it gets!

LOCATION - Our home is situated on the banks of the Russian River and is a convenient 10-15 minute walk or 3 minute drive to charming downtown Guerneville. With many world-renowned Wineries located just minutes away, Guerneville is the perfect hub for your wine tasting expeditions. Other attractions within 30 minutes of our home are the local redwood forests, the oceanfront towns of Jenner and Bodega Bay, and beautiful Occidental.

BEDROOM features include new high thread count linens, pillow top king mattress, memory foam topped queen mattress, light blocking curtains, flat screen tvs, and plenty of comfortable pillows.

BATHROOM features include bath and beach towel sets, provided shampoo/conditioner/soap, a large jetted soaking tub in the master bath, and a shower/bath combo in the guest bath.

FULLY STOCKED KITCHEN includes an extensive spice collection, olive oil, balsamic, cooking oil, flour and baking supplies, coffee/teas, sugar/honey/cocoa, and more. The large cookware collection features high quality Cuisinart stainless steel Pro Series cookware and Teflon frying pans. The new small appliances include a toaster oven, microwave, Cuisinart, blender, mixer, juicer, and waffle maker.

NEWER MODEL APPLIANCES include a stainless steel French door refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and front-load washer/dryer. Our tankless hot water heater ensures all of the water lovers a hot shower after the morning swim. Cooks will appreciate the multi-BTU gas stainless steel range and range hood. The new furnace is equipped with a wireless remote access thermostat that allows us to pre-heat our home for our winter guests, prior to their arrival.

OTHER TIDBITS: Tons of private off-street Parking.....10-15 minute walk to downtown Guerneville and Safeway.....large upper Back Yard.....easy access down a gently sloped path to the riverfront Lower Yard and Dock. NOTE: Due to our location on a river that is prone to flooding, our home (along with many other homes on the river) has been elevated above the floodplain. As a result, we have 26 steps leading into the home. Once inside the home, it is single-level.

PLENTY OF ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE KIDS (AND ADULTS): .....Foosball Table and Kettler Ping Pong Table.....Get the laughter going when you break out the Board Games (and find out who is most competitive!)....over a dozen to choose from...Scattegories, Cranium, Apples to Apples, Balderdash, to name a few.....Wirelessly stream your favorite music from your laptop iTunes to our stereo.....Grab a book from our library of over 100 books and curl up by the wood burning fireplace.....Kick back and watch cable TV (premium package, hundreds of stations), On Demand, HBO, and Netflix movies on our New High Definition 46' flat panel TV and Play Station 3.

We purchased our river home in spring 2010 and have been upgrading it ever since. As homeowners and your hosts, we pride ourselves in taking great care of our home and providing our guests with little touches that set the Blue Canoe apart from the usual vacation home rental. Please let us know if have any suggestions or special requests.

About the Owner

Rebecca hails from what native Californians refer to as 'back east'. Translation - The Midwest. Ken hails from Quincy, a small town in the Sierra Nevada. Translation - Native Californian. Rebecca and Ken are both former travel junkies and outdoor adventurers turned DIY obsessed homeowners, with an ongoing list of improvement projects for our vacation homes. Our jobs (Rebecca in commercial interior design and Ken in real estate finance) keep us tied to San Francisco as our home base, but we love escaping the city every opportunity we get (and yes, Rebecca is often reminded by her relatives 'back east' that being 'stuck' in San Francisco isn't all that bad).

5 old friends, 4 cities spread throughout the U.S. 3 days to spend with each other catching up, laughing, drinking wine, snuggling, lounging in the hot tub, cooking meals and reminiscing about memories that go back 20 years. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our long weekend. The house was lovely, clean, well stocked and casually elegant. We're already planning our return trip. Thank You!

This home is in an awesome location. With great river access, lots of river toys and a serene setting. Nice foosball table and pingpong set are hours of fun for the kids. Great hot tub and the most well stocked kitchen I have ever experienced at a rental.

Dad's 70th Birthday Trip

The Blue Canoe is right on the river - unfortunately it was a bit cold for kayaking! We ate at all the great restaurants in Guerneville, visited some wineries, drove out to the coast, soaked in the hot tub, and hiked Armstrong Woods. We'll definitely come again for kayaking when it's warmer, but the fog, changing leaves, and the touch of rain was beautiful. My only notes: the fireplace is hard to use despite following instructions exactly, and the microwave door is extremely hard to close. Those are small points considering every linen, spice, pot, pan, utensil, plate & cup we needed was fully stocked.

wonderful house great location

Our first trip to CA. There was a family wedding at the Dawn Ranch in Guerneville. Flying from the east coast we decided to make a vacation out of the trip. We could not have been more pleased with our selection of Blue Canoe. The kitchen was outstanding with everything you have and use in your own home. And with the many choices of restaurants in Guerneville if you did not feel like cooking then a nice walk or quick drive to town was an excellent option. The living quarters were very comfortable. The bedrooms were nice especially the linens. Bathrooms were well stocked which in rental houses is not usually the case. A delightful deck allowed for nice views of the yard, river, and hills. The canoe and kayaks on the property were terrific. Nearby attractions abound..Armstrong Woods, lots and lots of wineries, easy drive to the coast, horseback riding, nearby golf course to name a few. One highlight was Mom's Apple Pie near Forestview..seriously the best apple pie and don't miss the turnovers! We highly recommend Blue Canoe as the property is well maintained and the owners are responsive and interested in their renter's comfort. We'd like to return. You will enjoy your stay and feel right at home.

Great Property

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect place for our girls' getaway. King and queen beds super comfortable with high-end bedding. Property described accurately on website. Gorgeous setting, perfect weather, nice kitchen, great hot tub. River was too low for swimming or kayaking off of dock but enjoyed sitting in chairs looking at river. Had nice lunch at Korbels winery, then wine tasting. Spent lot's of time playing games and watching L.A. Kings win 1st game the Stanley Cup on big TV!

Pre-Wedding Vacation

  • 5 of 5
Spent a wonderful long weekend with a few friends and my fiance at the Blue Canoe before our wedding. The house was wonderfully stocked with anything we could have hoped for. The kitchen was amazing! We really appreciated the little things that you would usually have to stock yourself (and feel wasteful purchasing) at a vacation home like coffee filters and spices being provided! The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, and multiple outdoor seating areas. The house is also set up wonderfully for a rainy day or just a lazy day indoors with movies, cable, wifi and even a roku! The house felt incredibly private even though there were other guests next door. It also should be noted that it's an easy walk into Guerneville for quick grocery trips or dinner and drinks. Really just a wonderful place to stay and we hope to return in the future!!

Location

From the Owner

Our passion for the outdoors led us to purchase our first vacation rental home in the Lake Tahoe area in 2005. Our first home was so well received that we decided to try our hand at a second vacation rental home, this time a tad closer to San Francisco, but still keeping with our love of the outdoors (and our additional love of good wine). As for this particular home, we fell in love with the beautiful kitchen/dining room and its spectacular riverfront setting the moment we saw it. Lastly, the huge garage provides many opportunities to expand our amenities package (plans are in the works).

Amenities

From the Owner

Inside our home you will find nice fluffy bedding, high thread count sheets and quality furnishings that set our home apart from the typical vacation rental. Guests will also find our kitchen well stocked with tons of nice things that even a gourmet chef will appreciate. But it's really our riverfront setting and connection to nature that makes our property so special. With our lower yard and permanent dock, our guests can enjoy extended access to the river in the spring and fall that other riverfront homes with seasonal docks cannot offer.
