House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Our location for Mardi Gras and Jazzfest is IDEAL - the Krewe du Vieux, St. Ann's, and Krewe of Eris, and Muses parades are all just steps from our front door. As well as JazzFest, most evening venues are within walking distance. Bicycling is the best way to travel long distances during Mardi Gras, and there is a shop 2 blocks away that rents bikes.

Completely remodeled Bouligny plantation servants quarters, built in 1865 just 2 blocks off the Mississippi. Open concept, brand new furniture throughout - this is a camelback double so it is a house behind the front house - in the middle of everything but completely private front deck and back patio area. You can hear the trains and boats up and down the river, and the music from Tipitinas famous jazz club is nearby but not loud.

FIRST FLOOR: Kitchen, dining and living areas are all open concept with a private partially covered deck and an open patio.

SECOND FLOOR: 2 Bedrooms, both with brand new beds 1 king and 1 queen, walk-in closet, additional shelving, TV in each room and computer desk in one of the bedrooms. Full bathroom and laundry room are separate and in the middle of the floor with the two bedrooms on each end of the house, both with views of the banana tress and gardens around the area.

I HIGHLY recommend this VRBO! The photo's don't do it justice. Before you even enter you'll want to sit on the front porch & glide! The home is clean, inviting, & has EVERYTHING you could possibly need! It is in an EXCELLENT location & we enjoyed walking nearly everywhere. The owners are so friendly & easy to work with & they obviously want you to enjoy your stay. The queen bed was incredibly comfortable! The back patio is relaxing. The only negative was that the downstairs tv wasn't working properly (which we didn't really need're in New Orleans after all!) However, having direct tv didn't allow us to watch the local stations....which means no Saints game! Just had to find a sports bar! :) I hope to stay here again.....SOON!

Owner's Response: I'm SOO glad you enjoyed yourself, and I wish you would have asked about the Saints game. Tho we do not have local channels the Saints game was on NFL Sunday ticket, which will get you football games for any team all over the country in beautiful HD.
SOO sorry about the TV downstairs. When we got to the property someone (maybe guest prior to you?) had really switched the remote buttons around (tho we specifically say not to do that) and I tried to troubleshoot over the phone, but they'd switched the mode on the DirecTV remote all the way over to TV mode. Never seen that before in four years. HOWEVER, both TVs in the bedrooms work fine no matter how downstairs is.

Clean, walking distance from Magazine Street, and the owner was very helpful. Will definitely stay here again if I go back to New Orleans.

Summer in the City - GREAT location!

  • 5 of 5
I had the pleasure of staying at this location for six weeks this summer - longer than the owners are used to, but they were very accommodating and helpful.

The house is clean & comfortable. The kitchen has a huge refrigerator, plenty of utensils. The bathroom is small, but larger than mine at home. Shower and tub are delightful. The bedrooms are nice sizes. The beds, oh the beds. They are A-MA-ZING!! They are the most comfortable beds I’ve ever had the privilege to sleep in. Just be aware that you might feel the beds shake a bit when the trains and boats are loading or moving over on the Mississippi. Completely caught me off guard the first night!! Oh, and the AC is a blessing in the blistering heat of the summer.

I was very thankful for the quick internet as it helped me keep in touch with family. I also had blogging to keep up with during the six weeks. Additionally, there are three televisions equipped with Dish network which was very nice (we only have antennae channels at home!).

I had been to New Orleans a couple times before, staying weekends before or after taking cruises out of the city. Both times I stayed in the Garden District. This property is just outside of the Garden District. Even though I drove down from Indiana, I very rarely used my car as the driving and parking are a bit crazy. I had absolutely no problems with having my car parked in front of the house. There are two bus stops rather close – one is a block away, the other about 4 blocks away. I used both quite often and was pleased with how clean the buses were kept. I felt comfortable riding alone. Both bus lines take you to Canal Street and the French Quarter.

Hansen’s Snowballs are a few blocks away and they truly are delicious. There may be long lines though. I think the longest I waited was 45 minutes, but when the temps are in the 90’s a snowball really hits the spot. There are three grocery stores within 5 minutes or so (by car). Dozens of restaurants in the area. One of my favorites was Frankie and Johnny’s.

The owners are very good at communicating with their renters. They were a phone call or text away and fixed any problem that came up. There was never a time while in NOLA that I felt unsafe or uncomfortable. Neighbors in the area are all very friendly. I was very pleased with this location for my six weeks in New Orleans and would be very likely to rent the same location again.

Thanks, Enzo and David!!!!!

A gem in NOLA, great for Jazz Fest, etc.!

  • 5 of 5
We could not have been more thrilled with our experience renting this VRBO home. A group of us made the treck to NOLA for Jazz Fest (1st weekend) and I began the searching process back in February, whcih was so intense. With Phish playing this year, the demand for houses was even higher than normal. I discovered this place on VRBO and the owner was prompt in getting back to me. He spent time with me texting and over the phone to cover the details of the house and walk me through the process. The owners were cordial, freindly and super helpful with all sorts of advice and tips for our trip. The house is literally a stones throw from Tipitinas, but tucked off of the main drag just enough. We found this to be super convenient , since many of the late night shows were in the same area. The place itself was clean, comfortable and charming. Although, it only has one bathroom, the renovaitons and cleanliness made it tolerable. The blow up beds were deluxe and very comfortable and they even provided a second one for even more sleeping room for my party of 6. We did not rent a car and got around pretty easy for the most part. The grocery store was walkable and the neighborhood was safe and quiet. I would recommend this house to any of my friends or family and we would certainly stay there again if were to go back to NOLA. I highly recommend this property for small groups, couples and small families. We could not have been happier with our choice!

Wonderful Mardi Gras Home!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I went to Tulane and have not missed a Mardi Gras since graduating... I have lived all over the Garden District and we also visit New Orleans regularly throughout the year so I can say with certainty that if you're looking for a great spot - NolaHouse is it! The place is perfect for one or two couples and has everything you need - walking distance to great bars & restaurants, close to major roads for easy access to CBD/French Quarter, a Rouses around the corner, and in a wonderfully quintessential neighborhood! The condo is comfortable and really convenient, and the back patio is perfect for daydrinking and daydreaming... the kitchen is fully equipped, the water pressure is great (key in New Orleans!), the beds are comfortable, the laundry/dryer makes getting caught in afternoon showers no problem, and there is plenty of room to make this a weekend home. We truly loved our stay and are so happy to have found a wonderful home in NOLA.

What a find!!!

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I went to the Superbowl this year in New Orleans and were lucky enough to stumble upon Enzo and David’s home in the Garden District. What a find!!!! We wanted to be close enough to downtown (or downriver as the locals call it) but far enough away were we did not have to deal with the crowds every time we left our house. The Garden District was exactly that. The house was a short walk to Magazine street, which was full of cool and trendy shops, local hangouts, and unbelievable restaurants. Make sure to head to Superior Seafood for some local fare. The charcoal oysters where amazing (I had 3 dozen in two days!!) and the BBQ shrimp were finger licking good! Also, Dick and Jennys is literally a block from the house and is a must for dinner. Enzo had some great recommendations for everything. He steered us away from the tourist traps and we ended up dining and partying in most of the spots that were local hangouts which was great.
The house was a redone 2 bedroom back house that was clean and quiet. The beds were extremely comfortable (comparable to the heavenly beds you find at the W hotel). TV’s in every room and internet made it easy for me to catch up on work which was awesome. Alos, you are only a few blocks from the river and it was very cool to hear the sounds of the ships passing buy. The street car on St. Charles was about 5 blocks up from the house and was a great way to get back and forth from downtown.
The trip was a complete success and this is the only place we would stay at when coming back to the big easy. My recommendation is to listen to Enzo. He has his finger on the pulse of New Orleans and will guide you in the direction of making the most of your time in New Orleans. Thank you for the hospitality………Y’all?

Owner's Response: I am SO glad a guest has noticed the high end bedding. One of many things that really set us apart from our competition. And we had a great time suggesting restaurants to keep your SuperBowl request as UNhectic as possible.

From the Owner

Location location. This is in the middle of everything but is also a real neighborhood - a supermarket is so close its like living there - one of the best kept secret restaurants is less than a block away, as well as Tipitina's jazzclub, so the location is beyond ideal for Mardi Gras (walking distance but not TOO crazy) and ideal for Jazzfest as most venues are within walking distance. You can walk to anything but its also convenient to drive and park on the street - it is the best of everything.

From the Owner

We have set this up in every way so that the guest comes away with the experience of having LIVED in New Orleans. It is a profoundly unique city and sadly most visitors never make it beyond the French Quarter and miss out on a wealth of beauty and experience. Specifically, the size, condition, and the abundance of TWO private spaces in the heart of the city are virtually unheard of.
