Our First Time

  • 4 of 5
We visited NO to experience Mardi gras for the first time. Roberta, the prop owner, was gracious and knowledgeable. The apt was perfect and located only 2 blocks from the parade route. We went with another couple and it was a super time!

Cozy apartment just right for us

  • 5 of 5
We rented this whole house including the 1-bdrm and 2-bdrm suites for a one-week workshop and we will book it again. When you are reserving a space like this for the first time and having paying clients come to stay, there is always a bit of apprehension. While the stay was not trouble-free, I don't look for perfection but I do look for people who are good at communicating and do everything they can to work things out for their guests. I have to say Lauren, the manager, was attentive and responsive with some of the issues we had including coordinating various arrival dates into the different spaces we had booked.

The biggest issue we had was with the heating during what was by all accounts, a very cold spell in NOLA. In this space, the heating was much better than the main house. I did have to use an additional baseboard heater in the bedroom that faced the street. There is a door and window which made it quite drafty but once the extra heater was plugged in, the room was perfect. While we were there, the unit opposite us was being renovated. Luckily we were out during the day so the noise was not an issue for us but it is something I would have liked to have been made aware of at the time I booked.

This 2-bdrm is a very cozy space with comfortable beds and it has a sofa bed in the living room so you can squeeze more people in there if you really need to. The real surprise in this apartment was the shower. Talk about luxury. It is the kind of shower you find in ritzy hotels and I loved waking up every morning knowing I'd be in for a treat to start my day. The kitchen is small but you really don't need anything bigger as you are probably eating out more of the time. For breakfast before you head out, it's perfect.

I booked the entire house and will leave a review on the other two spaces if you are interested. Thanks Lauren for all your help. See you again!

Great apartment in a great location

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I stayed here for Mardi Gras this year and it was a great location. It is within walking distance to anything you may need; groceries, drug store, restaurants and shopping. It's also the perfect location for the parades. There is a laundry facility directly across the street. Parking was easy. We parked directly in front of the apartment most of the time. The beds were super comfortable. I have a bad back and I wanted to take the bed home with me! The tv worked fine for us. The shower was a little confusing, but we eventually figured it out. It's new and one of those fancy schmancy ones. Yes, the kitchen is small but it serves it's purpose. We used the microwave to heat up leftovers and used the coffee maker every morning. Besides, who visits New Orleans and cooks?! You should be eating at all the wonderful restaurants because you won't find this kind of food anywhere else. I would definitely stay here again! I would like to address the comments regarding the area being unsafe. If you aren't familiar with New Orleans, most of New Orleans is going to seem shady to you. In order to get to the Garden District and Uptown areas, you have to drive through some less fortunate areas. Once again, that's New Orleans. It's a very old city with lots of history and has been through enormous plights. This area is perfectly safe. It's also going through a ton of renovations. It's just old and full of character. Tip: Watch out for the trees along the street curbs; especially on St. Charles. They don't seem to respect the boundaries ;)

Awesome Location for Essence

  • 4 of 5
My sisters and I needed a place to stay for Essence. This was an awesome location. It was clean and enough space for all of us. Easy to find, easy instructions to follow, easy access to the trolley - get your Jazzy pass and easy to hail a cab. So really no need for a car unless you want to go to Ma Momma's House for breakfast - highly recommended. Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles - please just have a seat. Be mindful of the hot water temp and making sure that the refrigerator is closed - might need to upgrade that frig. Would we stay again at this location - Absolutely. Merci beaucoup to the owners. It was good to come home to Louisiana and partake in an awesome location and of course awesome food. Laissez le bon temps rouler.

Can't wait to book again for next summer

Can't wait to book again for next summer
  • 5 of 5
Location was perfect. I always had a great place to park. Laundry facilities were across the street. It really felt like we were going home each night. It was right in the middle of everything and convenient to walmart, grocery stores, the garden district, magazine street and list can go on and on. Everything was just as advertised and we were 100% satisfied with our experience. I recommend the hop on / hop off tour if you are visiting the area. My only surprise was when it said the kitchen was small I just didn't envision how small....literally only 1 person in there at a time but, I cooked breakfast and 3/7 dinners in there so everything works well. Again, thanks for making our trip fantastic and worry free... I will be booking again!

Owner's Response: So great to have you visit with us, and thank you for the kind words. Yes it's a modern, well appointed yet quaint and cozy (small) kitchen, unless of course you're from NYC, then it's downright spacious...
We'd love to see y'all again, so as we say down here in the Crescent City..."Y'all come back now, ya hear?"
Thanks for letting us be the place you called home in what is not only one our country's most special and precious cities, but a cultural Mecca of the world as well.
New Orleans Y'all - We're back! And we're so glad our little oasis in the heart of the Garden District can be a part of its rebirth.
Thank you!!!

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5
We arrived only a couple of days after the previous review had been posted and I must say we have had a totally different experience. The owner and his wife happened to be upstairs when we arrived, they both made us feel extremely welcome and gave us some much information on places to go in the locality it was extremely useful. The apartment we had had two very good sized bedrooms a reasonable sized lounge area a smallish kitchen and a decent sized bathroom, it was everything we needed. Considering the property had first been built in the 1800's it was in very good condition. The beds have memory foam which is very pleasant to sleep on. Parking is in the street but we managed to park outside the front door every time at no cost. It is very close to the tram into the French Quarter and really close to Magazine Street where there are numerous restaurants and bars. Overall we would definitely recommend this property it is not brand new, it has character, the floor slopes a little, it is close enough to all the amenities and attractions in the city and to us represented great value for money.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the kind words and and for taking the time to submit such a flattering review.
We certainly hope the rest of your US holiday was equally as enjoyable as your time in New Orleans.
It was a pleasure to have you and Dawn as our guests. Y'all come back and see us again anytime, you're aways welcomed.

Cheers

Tom

Location

From the Owner

We are located in the Garden District, just a couple of hundred feet from St. Charles and a Streetcar stop. You can easily take the streetcar uptown to view the beautiful mansions on St. Charles, or downtown into the Warehouse District with it's gourmet restaurants and music clubs, or to Canal Street which is the start of the French Quarter. Commander's Place, one of the oldest and renowned restaurants in NOLA is just a short 4 blocks away. There are plenty of restaurants, drug stores and grocery stores you can easily walk to as well. Yet you are just a few minutes away from the noise (and smell!) of the French Quarter in a safe and peaceful area.

Activity and Interests

Eating some of the best food this side of the moon. Close to Commander's Palace, 6 short blocks to Magazine Street, a St. Charles Street car stop is one short block away and takes you to French quarter.
