This beautiful home can sleep up to 6 persons with use of Guest Cottage.

Located in the hills above of Santa Barbara between the city and the sea, this authentic adobe was built in the mid 1950's by master Adobero, Senor Aguilar. With panoramic views of the city and mountains and a peek of harbor, this welcoming home will provide you with the quintessential Santa Barbara vacation! You enter the property through old Mesquite Gates and descend to the private courtyard, complete with fountain, citrus trees and barbecue. This is a perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon naps or a casual dinner. The main house has two bedrooms, each with a private bath. The master has a king bed, and the second bedroom has a queen. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with a Viking range and professional appliances for any discriminating cook. On the view side of the property you will find a terrace and 'sit in' stone fire pit with stunning vistas of the city and mountains. The property also has a guest cottage that can accommodate two more persons. It contains an extra long twin trundle, full bath, and secluded terrace with mountain and city views. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE USE OF THE GUEST COTTAGE IS ONLY AVAILABLE WITH STAYS OF 30 DAYS OR LONGER.) The home is less than a 7 min drive to the beach or downtown and has three flat screen TV's with satellite HD TV service, internet access, central heat and off street parking.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, Mark. Mark took his time in showing us around the property and explaining how everything functioned, such as the awesome stereo system, lighting and firepit. Mark was very gracious in spending time sharing with us the history of the adobe house. We thoroughly enjoyed the gift basket that was left for us. The home exceeded our expectations, and was even better than described. Unfortunately, we were only there to enjoy this home for 7 nights. We were in Santa Barbara for our sons wedding. During the 7 days we entertained just about every day and night. Perfect house to entertain family and friends. The house is completely stocked with just about anything you would need. The beds were comfortable, towels luxurious, kitchen completely stocked. We were somewhat familiar with Santa Barbara and made sure to visit our favorite restaurants such as, The Boat House, Olio and La Playa Azul. We would most definitely return to this amazing home with an amazing view of Santa Barabar and highly recommend others to visit this location.

Lovely!

We just returned from a week at this amazing authentic hilltop adobe home. This house is a gem! Every day we made the most of our time in Santa Barbara, but we also looked forward to coming "home" each day too. Mark has decorated the home beautifully, and also made is very comfortable. The house is centrally located, but at the same time it feels very private and serene. We enjoyed the views of the Santa Barbara hills on one side of the house, and the sunny courtyard with fountain on the other side. We hope to do this again next year. It was such a treat to stay here - a true getaway!

OASIS IN SANTA BARBARA

  • 5 of 5
This beautiful hilltop home is tucked away from the hustle and bustle but is only a short 5 minute drive to the downtown action. As you enter through the antique wooden gate you are transported to another world...beautiful gardens and and a gorgeous courtyard with a bubbling fountain beg you to enjoy a good book and glass of wine while relaxing on the comfortable furnishings. The bbq was put to good use during our trip and the heater was only needed on one evening as we enjoyed beautiful weather on this trip.

The house itself is beautifully decorated with gorgeous artwork and period furnishings. Comfortable seating and throws make it easy to snuggle in. Both the master and the 2nd bedroom have plenty of hanging space (and hangers!) and comfortable beds outfitted with designer bedding and lots of feather pillows and a feather duvet. Both bathrooms reflect the atmosphere of the home with lovely finishes including a claw foot tub and copper sink in the 2nd bathroom.

I was very happy with the kitchen as it was equipped with everything one could want to prepare a gourmet meal. If you like to bake there is even a KitchenAid mixer. The kitchen blends in beautifully with the great room living area while looking out through wide expanse of windows over the Santa Barbara hills.

The outdoor dining table is a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast while the sun burns off the clouds over the hills. At night the twinkling lights of Santa Barbara are enchanting. This is the main eating area although there are also nice barstools pulled up to the ample kitchen island should you want to eat indoors.

Mark has thought of everything and is a very congenial host, happy to recommend spots of interest, restaurants, or whatever you may be looking for.

A wonderful respite!

  • 5 of 5
After my husband and I turned the key to enter the home, I rushed to the french doors to take in the fabulous view of Santa Barbara. We had just returned from wine country so promptly open a bottle before taking a full tour of the home and grounds. The home has such a quiet sophisticated yet comfortable "kick your shoes off" feel...the furniture, the well appointed kitchen (love the cookbooks), the basket upon arrival, the warm colors, etc. We ventured out each day of our stay but hurried back so that we could relax and enjoy. We are two hard working people and this was just the spot for a bit of respite. Thank you Mark for the attention you've given to this home. You made two people very happy.

Wonderful Hospitality!

  • 5 of 5
Our family had a truly outstanding vacation at the Hilltop Adobe. We loved cooking in the beautifully appointed kitchen, and spent many hours together in the large kitchen / dining / living room. We also loved our relaxed meals on the porch looking out over a breathtaking view of Santa Barbara. Mark was a warm and terrific host, and I appreciated his willingness to add an extra day to our stay. It was wonderful hospitality from start to finish.
