Welcome America's Cup 2017!!!

AAA - Awesome LOCATION, Amazing VIEW, Astonishing COMFORTABLE with FULL KITCHEN- 'EXIM Guest Apartment' in a well known Mangrove Bay, Somerset Village, Bermuda where the Fun and Excitement begin with the Royal Naval/DOCKYARD just few minutes Bus ride away!

Somerset Village, a small sleepy and picturesque community, was once a busy maritime port that hugs the Mangrove Bay. The water is crystal clear and perfect for a quick dip or you can just enjoy a stroll on the beach. Stroll along the narrow lanes on both sides of Mangrove Bay road and you will see many pastel color houses with wooden balconies, the small stores and the sleepy lifestyle of the islanders.

Exim Guest Apartment, new fully renovated with all amenities, overlooking the turquoise waters and sail boats of Mangrove Bay. Bus stops are in front of the Building on either directions to Horseshoe Bay Beach and Hamilton or Dock yard, make it very convenience to tour the Island. Also, a ferry at Watford Bridge is just a walk away. Somerset Country Squire Pub & Restaurant across the street, Somerset Pharmacy next door along with HSBC Bank, Bank of Butterfield, fitness center, stores, etc.

Few steps across the way is 'Somerset Long Bay Beach' which provides a private Bermuda experience. The white, sandy beach, swimming near the coast with panoramic view of the northern coast of the island that doesn't usually get packed with beach goers, watch the Beautiful Magical Sunset every evening.

Wonderful location, great apartment!

  • 5 of 5
Nestled in the crook of Mangrove Bay and within a stone's throw of convenience lies Jody and Cathy's home away from home. Booking process was remarkably easy and all correspondence thorough, helpful and reflective of the best of Bermudan sensibilities. Airport pickup was a treat and we were thrilled with the look and feel of the place. Close to all amenities, beaches and Dockyard, this place hits the mark without losing country charm. A little noisy with traffic, but if you are out during the day, the loudest noise you will hear is the sound of frogs singing you to sleep. Well within walking distance to the ferry and the added benefit of having lovely hosts, this is a place not to be missed.

Very nice unit with an upscale feel.

The booking process went very smooth. We booked far in advance and as time went on we would think of some questions about the unit and the island and we always received very prompt replies.

As our trip got closer a hurricane was going to hit the island the exact day we were supposed to arrive. Cathy was proactive and contacted us to explain the situation and she offered to reschedule or even give us a refund. There was never any "we got your money, too bad" attitude, they could not have been any more accommodating. There was nobody booked the 2 days after our scheduled stay so Cathy and the airline allowed us to just slip the start of our 10 day vacation by 2 days and we are very glad we still went.

The location is right on a sandy beach bay with great views from the balcony. It's right next to the bus stop and the bus system was great. In fact, the bus system was one of the key items to our vacation. We literally took every bus and every ferry and saw every bit of the islands. It was not only a great sight seeing tool, but we used it to get everywhere we needed to go during our stay with the exception of the to/from the airport since the bus does not allow luggage. The unit is a block from the post office and the post office sells bus passes. $55 for an entire calendar month or $56 for just 7 days (I gave up trying to figure that one out).

The unit has very good wireless Internet, basic cable TV (Miami channels), DVD player and even had a basket of a dozen DVDs (there is a DVD rental store a block away too).

From the time we arrived Cathy continually reached out to let us know she was there, if we needed anything. It was very reassuring to know that we were not just stuck there and that we had someone we could go to, if we needed something. Her service could not have been better. She even helped us find a ride back to the airport that was far cheaper than a cab ride.

The islands themselves are great. We were there 10 days and every day was jumping on the bus to head to a new adventure. The people in Bermuda are some of the friendliest I have ever come across. Even the bus drivers would help you.

All in all it was a great time. The unit exceeded our expectations and the location was great. We used the kitchen for half our meals because eating out there is very expensive. Across the street 2 burgers, fries, Cokes, =$49, which was fairly typical. No cheap fast food places like in the US.

A great place to stay

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent two wonderful weeks in Bermuda and a large part of the enjoyment was staying at the Exim apartment. While it is at the west end of the island it is still centrally located because of the bus stops within half a block of the apartment. Every half hour a bus would arrive to take you to Hamilton or the Naval Dockyard. The village it is located in has two restaurants, a pharmacy, doctor, clothing store and a liquor store. Just about everything you could ask for. Two bus stops away is a full supermarket. If you wish to go to St. Georges at the east end of the island a ferry leaves the Dockyard every hour. As i said an excellent location.
The apartment is fully equipped with a stove, fridge, dishwasher and washer and dryer. It has an excellent king size bed and one of the truly beautiful views of Mango Bay filled with sailboats and cabin cruisers.
Cathy and Jody are excellent hosts. Whatever you need they will provide it or find it for you including a free ride from the airport (up to $100 dollars if you take a cab). Their helpful advice on where to go and what to see made our trip much more interesting, plus they provided beautiful weather for us.
When you decide to visit Bermuda one of the first things you should do is look up their web site at Exim Apartments. I know you won't regret it.

Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5
I stayed in Cathy and Jody's rental during my first trip to Bermuda earlier this year. I'm convinced that Exim had a lot to do with the overall awesome experience that I had on my trip. The apartment was beautifully renovated by Jody, and the attention to detail was apparent at every turn. From the bathroom to the kitchen, to the beamed ceilings - everything was top notch and CLEAN. I should also mention that I've never slept in a more comfortable bed in my life (it even beat out my own bed at home!).

Other pluses include the close proximity to the bus stop (it's literally right outside the door) and beaches. So you won't have to hike up and down hills to get to anything. You might hear some street noise, but nothing more than occasional friendly beeping.

When I return to Bermuda, I definitely hope I can stay there again. Thanks Cathy and Jody!

Great location, comfortable accomodations

  • 5 of 5
Quite the pleasant experience. We were greeted at the airport and given a fantastic tour of the island prior to arriving at the apartment. We were greeted by a family member upon arriving and then soon there after met Jody. Cathy unfortunately was away at this time. We were very pleased upon entering the apartment. The reonovations have made it very modern, upscale and yet comfortable and homey. The balcony was a great "escape" both in the morning for coffee and in the evenings for cocktails and people watching.

The proximity to the bus stop was so convenient, as we purchased a bus/ferry pass combonation right at the post office (literally 2 minutes away) and would definately recommend utilizing both, as it's so easy to get around the entire island via these means of transportation and they both provide picturesque views of this incredible island. Additionally, like others have stated, there is a pharmacy, wine/spirits/beer store and restuarant/pub all right outside the apartment.

There are many locals that hang nearby this location, which is a nice experience, as oppossed to being at one of the large resorts where you are around other tourist almost exclusively. This is a plus in my opinion.

Our trip back to the airport was arranged by Jody and we were greeted and escorted by Mr. Simons. Again, a wonderful experience, as we were given yet another tour via a different route and provided with a plethora of history etc. Something you won't receive from other "taxis" I am sure. Plus the price was way more reasonable.

The only negative, and it's been stated in another review was that there is street noise (mostly from scooters) that was troublesome the first night. But honestly, after the first night it was not an issue as we had become acclimated to it, or perhaps we were just tired from exploring the island. The washing machine too was OOC, but the host offered to wash clothes if need be, so not really an issue.

We would definately stay again at Exim, as it's a great value and overwhelmingly welcoming.

May Perfection

  • 5 of 5
We planned a May vacation to Bermuda and were so very, very fortunate to stay at the Exim apartment. Everything was wonderful! Cathy and Jody are absolutely the best hosts and Mr. Simons who drove us from the airport to the apartment went far beyond any expected norm.

Our flight was delayed and we arrived 8 hours late. No problem, Mr Simons was there to meet us and get us to our destination. He even stopped along the way to show us special places in Bermuda and provided us with a stop along the way to get groceries.

Our luggage did not show up at the airport, but with Cathy and Jody's unwavering help, we finally got it. They also provided us with essential toiletries until we got our luggage. Additionally, they helped us with choosing places to see, places to eat, beaches to visit and provided us the very best recommendation for transportation. Everyday we received a very pleasant email from them asking if we needed help with anything.

Our visit was nearly two weeks and we only wish we cloud have stayed longer.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

We are looking forward to our next visit.
