Seaview, 2 bedroom (both with ensuite & balcony/terrace), private garden & roof.

Period circa 100 year old Maltese 'townhouse' property full of charm and character features including stone flagstones and patterned tiles, wooden beams, stone walls and ceilings and stone staircases which has been tastefully modernised to high specifications to provide a comfortable home.

Characterful Maltese pieces adorn the property inside and out to provide a unique ambience.

Accommodation consists of sitting/living room complete with TV (cable service) and iPod docking station, study nook, combined kitchen and dining room complete with all utensils, toaster, kettle, coffee-grinder, crockery/cutlery/glassware and Siemens and Gaggenau built-in appliances (dishwasher, side-by-side fridge/freezer, double hung oven, microwave & 6-gas burner cooktop), full bathroom featuring antique bath set on stone claws, laundry (washing machine & dryer, iron & ironing board) and arched undercover area leading to garden abundant with citrus, olives, bird of paradise and sardinella on the ground floor.

A grand wrought iron and stone staircase takes you to the second floor, where you will find two generous sized bedrooms (1 double bed, 1 with 2 single beds) both with their own ensuites and private balcony/terrace, the main bedroom with stunning direct sea views and the second with views over the garden and surrounding countryside/village.

A stone spiral staircase from the second floor takes you to the roof area, where you can sit and view the uninterrupted sea and promenade views all the way along the stunning waterside quay.

Fantastic restaurants and cafe's are on your doorstep; you can order in a cappuccino and enjoy it in your own garden. Fishing and water activities are also on your doorstep as you are at the centre of the island's unique fishing village and can buy (or catch yourself) your lunch or dinner and cook it up yourself, or sample the 'catch of the day' at one of the village's renowned fish restaurants. Ramble through the streets, where fishermen tend their nets or stroll along the promenade and catch the local gossip, or meander through the markets and buy your souvenirs or local olives and fresh cheese as an appetiser.

We really enjoyed staying in your beautiful and comfortable house.

Claudine very nicely welcomed us. Marsaxlokk is a very nice place to visit and it was great to be close to the port. It was the second time we came to Malta and we took as much pleasure as the first time!

Marsaxlokk Island of Malta

fantastic place to relax but easy access to Malta!

  • 5 of 5
If you want a relaxing holiday then this is the place to go. Beautifully restored 2 story house - with 2 bedrooms (sleeps 5-6), 3 bathrooms, modern kitchen, laundry, comfortable lounge with TV - well maintained and very clean - that is right on the waterfront in a quiet and charming fishing village, Marsaxlokk. You step out the front door and there are fishing boats everywhere! Seafood restaurants and bars are at the door (Cafe Paris next door has free internet as well as good food) - very reasonable prices by Australian standards! - and the town square is 5 minutes away (ATM, small supermarket and grocer). There is a wonderful market on Sunday. But, if you want to explore Malta, use the buses as I did. The bus stop is at the front door - a day pass was 1.5 EURO!! - and Valletta is only 30 minutes away. It is also possible to get to the airport by bus from here but it is only 15 minutes by taxi costing 16 Euro with Sun Tranfers. Once in Valletta you can catch a bus to anywhere in Malta. I did several of the major sights in a day (and it cost only 1.5 Euro!). The buses are efficient and on time and it is a great way to see Malta without the hassle of driving. A great place for a holiday and thoroughly recommend this property and Malta to anyone.

Character with a view!

  • 5 of 5
Ideal property for people watching and taking in the scenery of the harbour. No problem parking (on Market Sunday we used a nearby side street). Cafe de Paris right nextdoor for a cheeky Cappucino and a slice of cake - or a meal and wine. Yes, it was a little lively on Friday night and at the weekend, but we live in the Scottish countryside with no neighbours! Well equipped house with private outdoor space on balconies and the roof, a perfect base for exploring, and much better than a hotel. The owners were very responsive, the property was clean and we would recommend it to friends or family.

Great property, great location

We had a lovely stay. Angela was helpful before we got there. We arrived at a terrible hour of the day yet Claudine was down to greet us and show us round the property, we were right on the doorstep of the Cafe de Paris where we had many meals. the only problem was that due to the warm nights we had the doors open and there was a fair bit of noise from the street and then the town woke up early again, having said that you did get used to it as the week went on.
All in all the property was clean and looked after. We were well located for beaches and had a perfect view for the local band marching past to celebrate the local feast.
Would recommend and would book again
thank you very much for sharing your home Jes and Angela

Marsaxlokk Island of Malta

Wonderful - met all my expectations.

Had a wonderful stay in Angela & Jes's maisonette. Every was provided towels etc., kitchen was excellently kitted out, Claudine their local caretaker was very helpful. Weather was great. We loved the area, plenty of good food in the town, next door Cafe de Paris was very handy & great value. There is a small sandy beach 5 minutes walk to the right. There is also a pleasant walk to Peter's Pools - no sand but plenty of jumping & diving. We rented a car to explore the island, parking is easy & free right in front of the apartment - except for Sunday's Market. We will be back!

We pride ourselves on the uniqueness of our home over others in the area as it retains it rustic characterful roots but includes modern amenities with relaxation and comfort in mind. We've delighted in furnishing our home with up-cycled rustic vintage and antique Maltese furniture, intermixed with modern pieces to present a holiday home with a sense of fun, charm and character. Marsaxlokk Bay is Malta's second largest natural harbour and main fishing harbour. Boasting the best fish restaurants on the island - it is a foodies, ramblers & photographers paradise with 'Luzzus', the traditional eyed Maltese fishing boats reflecting their colours against the bay.

The village's Sunday fish market a fascinating insight into local life and a traditional industry. The stalls brim with the night's catch - fish of all shapes, colours and sizes. During the week, the daily tourist market sells unique wares, while the fisherman quietly sit in the background, mending their nets and repairing their boats - and village elders sit along the seafront chatting, laughing & gossiping, while life wanders by.

It is also the southern venue for the annual Tourism Authority's Fireworks Festival. With a long history Marsaxlokk's harbour has witnessed the arrival of the Phoenicians, Ottoman Turks and Napoleon's Army. Close-by are the prehistoric megalithic sites & museums: Ghar Dalam Cave, Tas-Silg, Hagar Qim, Mnajdra & Tarxien Temples and Hypogeum. Fort Delimara, on the west of the peninsula, was built by the British in 1881 to guard the entrance to the Bay.

The Baroque style Parish church is the venue of a national pilgrimage annually on 8 May & celebrates its annual feast of Our Lady of Pompeii in early August, and like Christmas & Easter, the Church & streets are adorned to honour the procession's path. Many small chapels also dot the village & its surrounds.

Fishing, swimming, snorkelling are all on your doorstep, offering both sandy and rocky inlets. The headland to the left of the Bay is Delimara Point. It has two attractive, secluded rocky inlets suitable for swimming: Peter's Pool; and the furthermost part of the headland. St Thomas Bay, Marsascala, Xrobb l-Ghagin Nature Park, Pretty Bay, Ghar Lapsi & Blue Grotto are a short distance away.
