About the Owner

My name is Judd Gundersen and I own this cabin with my wife Christine. Christine originally purchased this cabin while we were first dating in 2007. Today, we are married and have a 22 month old son.

After purchasing the cabin our first order of business was to make the yard dog friendly. Our three dogs now enjoy the fenced backyard as well as the many dog friendly activities that the area has to offer.

We try to spend as much time as possible in Big Bear. We usually find ourselves spending more time during the summer at the cabin to escape the heat of Las Vegas, our current home.

While at the cabin we enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, riding motorcycles and ATVs and dining at the many great restaurants in the area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Patrick & Brett (the girl (:), Warren (Bulldog), Charlie (mutt) would like to thank you for having us stay at your little BB cottage. Pat did the triathlon on Friday and I was able to walk the dogs down to watch him come in! We took the dogs to the lake to swim (Warren absolutely loves the H20, with his life vest on of course! HA. We BBQ'D and read our books on the couch one day (love the couch, so comfy!) We ate dinner at Haciendas which we were also able to walk to, loved it! The best overall part for me was when I was sitting on the patio w/ the dogs (Pat @ grocery store) and we saw a HUGE beautiful wolf/coyote right up by the railing which the dogs scared off, a bittersweet moment for me. It was grey & white with the most beautiful unsettling eyes. The guy at the liquor store down the way said they have been known to take dogs off the leashes! Yikes! Thanks again for a wonderful getaway, we will be back! Love, Brett & Patrick

P.S. We had to move the big bear mat from the couch because Charlie has a toy version just like it but mini and I didn't want y'all to come home to the bear w a missing nose!

Perfect family getaway!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I absolutely loved this cabin! It was less than a 5 minute walk to the summit. My husband and son mountain biked and the girls and I went on beautiful hikes with the dogs. The hot tub was a treat upon our return. It rained a few times during our visit, but the sunken fireplace was perfect! I loved that we could bring our dogs and the doggy door was an exciting treat for them! :) On two of the nights, we were able to gaze at the stars while relaxing on the patio. Overall, the house was very cozy and comfortable. Wifi, cable, a great DVD selection – the cabin had everything! The kids didn’t want to leave! Thank you for a great visit to Big Bear! We hope to be able to visit very soon. 

Romantic and peaceful, all you could want

  • 5 of 5
Judsen was generous and attentive to all our needs, we are very grateful for his kindness and want to recommend not only his lovely cabin but him as a person.

We are avid hikers and we have a hiker dog. It was great to have everything there, ready for us, we could have left most of our stuff at home but brought extra just in case. They thought of everything, it was literally home away from home. The cabin is warm and cosy and after a long day hiking relaxing in the hot tub was just a dream. The best part was waking up to the sound of birds and squirrels and peace and quiet. It was a little colder so having a sunken fire place in the lounge was a real treat. I give this place and the owners a big A++ or the highest mark possible. You can definitely tell that love lives in this home.

Perfect Cozy Cabin for Ski Weekend!

  • 5 of 5
I was pleasantly surprised how close it was to Mt. Summit. It was literally 2 blocks away. The wifi connection was great, which was a real plus for my family. We also really enjoyed the large hot tub. The heater in the bathroom was a nice feature as well. We would definitely recommend for those looking for a cozy ski getaway.

Peace of Christmas Magic!

  • 5 of 5
Awesome Christmas week at the cabin. The kids boarded every day and the few minutes walk to the slopes was nice. The cabin is beautifully appointed and the master bed was soo comfy and the kitchen was superbly stocked; we cooked almost every day. The forest "town trail" was minutes away and gets you into the forest. This would be ideal for young teens to give them the run of the place. Judd was very responsive and friendly. I hope to rent again.

From the Owner

We looked at many cabins in Big Bear but were absolutely sold on this one. We loved the sunken fireplace, the recessed lot, the close proximity to Snow Summit and the available trailer parking during the summer.
