3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, Fireplace, Porch, Private, Comfy

The owners were looking for a nice weekend home that was close to all the amazing park lands here in Ulster County. They found a beauty! This old gem was built at the end of the Craftsman Era of architecture and is a fine example of it. The previous owners had owned it forever and kept it in great shape. The old kitchen had quite frankly worn out and you'll be delighted with the brand new one in the house now. This style of home has a great floor plan. On the main floor you'll find that killer kitchen, formal dining room, 1/2 bath, open living room with fireplace and a huge porch on each side of the home. Back porch has been enclosed and screened. You can sit out there and hear the Coxing Kill stream as it splashes down below the home. It’s real pretty down there, but a challenge to reach. Great fishing for brook trout! Upstairs you'll find a large full bath with a full-sized tub/shower and three spacious bedrooms. One of them has a nice big crib. You'll find the house to be quite comfy and a great home base for all that the area has to offer. We have thousands of protected acres to roam between the Mohonk Preserve and the nearby Minnewaska State Park. There's a rail trail nearby that goes for about 20 miles for some scenic bike-riding, jogging or strolling. The Walkway Over the Hudson is a short drive as are the HITS show grounds in Saugerties. Eclectic towns like Woodstock and New Paltz are also nearby, as is the amazing Ashokan Reservoir. So come prepared to cook some delicious meals in this kitchen and to sleep well in the new beds. You'll need to do both to have the energy to explore what’s here.

About the Owner

We needed a family escape and this is a gem. Our little one is getting old enough to explore and we wanted her to know the wonders of the country. We both have hectic jobs in the city and have gotten up to the Ulster County area every chance we could for our escapes.

Lovely mountain home

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in the house with our 4 kids and truly enjoyed this comfortable, inviting home. The kids loved running in the yard, hiking down to the creek and taking advantage of the nearby activities. We went to Awosting Falls, the Mohonk Preserve and the town of New Paltz. The home had everything we needed for a long weekend in the mountains. We used the kitchen for most meals but also had a chance to try out a local restaurant. Bruce, the manager, was very helpful both before and after which made this such an easy experience for a last minute getaway from the city. Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words and for being so easy on our home. I love it when I walk thru a home after guests have left and it's hard to tell anybody was even there! We rent our home because of folks like you and we love to share our little slice of heaven. Please do come see us again someday very soon. Respectfully, Bruce Rental Manager

Great for family get away

  • 5 of 5
Our family - five adults and a 10 month old - stayed in this lovely home over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and
perfect for our needs.

We used every part of the house from the beautiful front porch, to the enclosed rear porch, the kitchen, etc. Morning and evening meals on the back porch, listening to the water in the near by stream, were so peaceful. Because the back porch is fully enclosed, it was easy to play with the baby in that area without worry about stairs.

The kitchen was well equipped for basic needs. The bedrooms were all large and the beds very comfortable. With easily opened windows, a nice cross breeze came in at night and, one of my favorite parts of the morning was waking to bird song.

The arrangements for the rental were easy to make and the property manager, Bruce, was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions sent by email.

There is a lot to do in the Hudson Valley and a notebook of ideas in the house helps prompt even more ideas.

One note of caution when you are anywhere in the Hudson Valley - we have stayed in several rental houses in the Hudson Valley and always bring a repellent for ticks and take the recommended precautions when hiking, etc. Also, poison ivy grows along most untrimmed walking areas so it helps to know how to identify it and avoid it. For that reason, we walk only in mowed areas, wherever we stay or visit.

Nice Thanksgiving away from the city!

  • 5 of 5
Our company of three families with young kids (age 3-5) had a great time. We stayed few nights for Thanksgiving and cooked all our meals in the house. The kitchen is well stocked, all bedrooms are spacious and bright with comfortable beds. We spent a lot of time in the living room and dinning room at the large table playing boardgames with kids. Kids were also running outside at the lawn. We love the area - went hiking to Minnewaska State Park, ice-skating at Mohonk Mountain House - all activities are close by. Bruce was very attentive and responsive. We definitely recommend the place!

Back in the late 1800's during the British Arts and Crafts era a style of architecture was born and brought to America. The Craftsman era as it's come to be known lasted into the 1930's. Some fine old homes were built in that era and this old beauty is one of them. This old beauty is well located at the end of a dead end road between Rosendale and High Falls and at the base of the Shawangunk ridge. In minutes you can be eating at eclectic places like the Eggs Nest or hiking the amazing Mohonk Preserve. Are you into huge Catskill Mountain views? Hike up to Smileys Point in the Preserve and drink it in. In a few more minutes you can be doing some big time shopping in Kingston or roaming the miles of trails in Minnewaska Park. You better plan on being here awhile!

From the Owner

Perfect spot for home base for a hectic visit to this special area. Good for some down time as well. Grab a book and sit out on the back porch. Explore your wanna be chef side in the kitchen. Chill and re-charge.
