About the Owner

We both love to scuba dive and snorkel, and Hawaii has some of the best areas to do just that. Which is why we picked this house. We want other people around the world to enjoy what we have discovered here in Hawaii and enjoy it, and our home, as much as we do.

Bicycles On The Big Island

  • 5 of 5
There were 10 of us - all with bicycles, that stayed here for 2 weeks. It was perfect! We had plenty of room to not be on top of each other.
We used the garage for bike assembly (folding bikes) and any maintenance we had to do.
The view from the lanai was perfect, even when it rained (a warm rain) in the afternoon.
The new hot tub and large pool were really appreciated after several long rides (Waimea, Black Sand Beach, the loop to City of Refuge) from the house. And the hikers in the group also appreciated the pool and hot tub!
The furnishings were great and all 10 of us managed to eat at the big table when we didn't go out. We used the grill several times which was great. When we went out for dinner it was Mi's and lunch was at the Coffee Shack. There are a few more restaurants that were recommended that we need to try when we go back to the Big Island.
The washer and dryer came in handy for bike clothes that needed to be washed every night.
Having the second refrigerator in the garage was an added plus. Costco on the way from the airport and Choice Mart when we needed groceries.
If we had any problems the caretakers were right there and the home owner was easily reached by text, phone or e-mail.
Last but not least the owners really do care about your comfort and how your stay was.
We will definitely consider going back and finishing our biking, hiking and sightseeing and would highly recommend this home for a family or group.

The best large rental house we've ever stayed in - Serioulsy

The best large rental house we've ever stayed in - Serioulsy
  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed in this fabulous house for 8 nights in late March and it was absolutely perfect for our extended family of 7. (5 of us in late 40's; two teenage nieces) The view and Lanai is lovely and the pool, new hot tub, and property are extremely comfortable. The decorations, furniture, and equipment available are fantastic and probably the best we've ever experienced in a vacation rental. The owners and caretakers clearly care about the enjoyment of their guests and have taken the extra effort to include things that will make your stay in the charming rural Kona coffee district even more enjoyable. They were also responsive from start to finish. Nearby Ho'Kena and Ke'ei "locals" beaches are a short drive, not to mention 2 steps and the Place of Refuge, so you can spend more of your time relaxing and less driving. We think the Captain Cook area has a perfect climate with some trade winds and a great balance of rural charm and scenery, along with good local farm stands (try across from the Choice Mart) and casual food options such as Jake's BBQ and Annie's burgers.

Well appointed, spacious, and relaxing

  • 5 of 5
Ideal home base for our 3-generation family trip. The owners were not merely responsive, but actively ensuring that all was well and we were enjoying ourselves. The interior, pool area, and gardens exceeded expectations and we found ourselves unusually content to laze around around the house because of it. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would not hesitate to recommend it to others seeking a quiet place to call home while in Hawaii.

Capt. Cook Home away from home for 10 days!

  • 5 of 5
With adult children living in different states we get together for a week + of family time once a year. This time there was 9 of us that stayed in this house---it was very comfortable and 'homey'. The pictures are accurate, the owners are great to work with, the rooms are much larger than we expected. We truly did feel like this was our home while we were there--we had a puzzle laying out on the table for everyone to work on, while some were in the pool others in the hot tub or the covered outside room. In the mornings the early risers could get up and go for a walk without waking up the 'late' ones. The house is in a jungle like setting so there are many evening noices from the critters outside--the neighbors rooster wakes up around 5:00 am! :-) In a was simply wonderful and I would highly recommend renting this house for your next family vacation.

Private, spacious comfort

  • 5 of 5
This home is perfect for a family reunion or for accommodating many persons. Four of the five bedrooms are private and the loft though not sound proof is still away from the other rooms. The on line pictures are accurate but in reality we were astonished at how spacious the home really is. The grounds also are spacious and well cared for as is the pool and hot tub. The kitchen had everything anyone could use and we made use of the outside grill as well. We were three couples and it was perfect for us. It is south of the airport by about 40 minutes and the highway can be congested at times. Good snorkeling is just a few minutes away. We highly recommend this home.

Hawaiian Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5
After renting a house run by a company on Oahu it's so nice to rent a vacation "home" on the big island. Nice artwork, decent furnishing's inside and out and all the extra's you might need like first aid items, hair dryers, tons of cookware and lots of beach towels and snorkeling equipment. The owners were wonderful to deal with throughout the rental process returning my damage deposit promptly after departure. There were eight of us including three kids that often times begged us to go back to the house to swim in the pool and quit our sightseeing! The brand new hot tub was a huge plus as well. The view of the sunset was fabulous and the gardens surrounding the property were amazing as well as the total privacy. The housekeeper couple that maintain it work very hard to keep this whole property impeccable and do a great job of it. Best rental property i have ever rented but i am afraid i set the bar too high with this one because I am now planning a trip to Florida and nothing even compares!

From the Owner

When we were looking for homes on the Big Island, this one stood out from the others we looked at. The location was perfect, not to far away from Kona and the beaches, but still has that country feel and the privacy that we were looking for. We were getting tired of the hotel scene, too many people, too much noise and just not the privacy that we were looking for when we vacation. We wanted more of a home feel where we knew we could relax and recharge. And that is exactly what we found here. We know that you will feel the same way the minute you walk in. The layout of the home and the size of the rooms just had the 'Wow' factor we were looking for. That's actually what we said as soon as we walked in was, 'WOW', so we knew it was for us. We know that you will feel the same way when you walk thru front entry door. We feel at home here, after a long day exploring all that Hawaii has to offer. We love to scuba dive and snorkel, and we are just minutes away from some of the best diving and snorkel sites. And the when you come home there is plenty of room for everyone to relax and hang out, and the pool and hot tub are just the thing to have to make the end of the day great, while watching the sun set over the ocean, which is always so spectacular to see. Truly Paradise!!

From the Owner

The location of the home is perfect! Only a short drive (7-8 minutes) to wonderful pristine waters to snorkel, swim and kayak and in the same amount of time will find grocery, fruit stands, gas, and restaurants. Personally, we have enjoyed the peaceful quality of the neighborhood and home as a sanctuary, far from the busy-ness of the world yet convenient enough to hop in the car to pick up take-out, a movie or even an afternoon latte.
