Birdwatching: For those of you who are birdwatchers, you will be thrilled with what you might “spot” during your visit. The autumn, winter, and spring months bring extraordinary, migratory visitors to both the salt water estuary, and deep waters of Agate Pass. Amongst the confirmed spots: Black Oystercatcher, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, Harlequin Duck, Long Tailed Duck, Surf Scoter, Common and Barrow’s Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser, Red Breasted Merganser, Double Crested Cormorant, Pigeon Guillemot, American Wigeon, Common Murre, Horned Grebe, Western Grebe, Surfbird, Killdeer, Greater Yellowlegs, Black Turnstone, Sanderling, Western Sandpiper. During the summer months, the resident Great Blue Herons, Belted Kingfishers, Bald Eagles, and Mallard Ducks will entertain you down by the water. Just take a short walk to nearby Fay Bainbridge State Park, and listen to and look at the trees. Early morning and just before sunset are the best times for woodland birding.

Beachcombing: Test your beachcombing skills to find sand, seashells, stones and driftwood, along with gems of green, blue, red and orange sea glass. For the discerning comber, look for the agates, mostly orange, with the sun to their back, on the lowest of tides, right at the line between the large rocks, and the sand...

Misc. fun: Have you ever tried beach crocquet?....

The Lake Isle of Innisfree

William Butler Yeats

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,

And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;

Nine beans rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,

And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow….

I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; I hear it in my deep heart’s core.

June’s Place reminds me of Yeats’ poem, and staying here cures most ills and heartaches - I find there is no “cure” for leaving, except perhaps to return again and again. Thanks Leslie for making it all possible.

Lovely cottage on Puget Sound

Everything we needed was provided. Neighbors and views are great. My daughter and I enjoyed site seeing as well as just hanging out. A good place to relax and unwind.
Saw dolphin, lots of shore birds, an otter or two and beautiful skies and sunsets.

Quiet Getaway

My friend and I had the most enjoyable stay at June's Place. It's right on the tip so you've got water on both sides! The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and water views. The kitchen is well-stocked with anything you'd need to cook. We had so much fun lounging out on the deck and taking walks along the beach. And we loved the neighbor's gray cat who visited us daily for petting and purrs. The owner is prompt with her communication and makes booking easy. I can't wait to return!

Midwestern Thaw to Pacific Northwest Beauty.

If you stay at June's place be prepared to fall in love with Bainbridge Island. This house lets you experience a salt water lagoon off the back deck and Puget Sound at the base of the front yard. The house was neat and clean when we arrived everything in working order. The bed rooms were comfortable and whole house had a cozy yet open feel with ample views of the sound. For two winter weary midwesterners the surrounding beauty was a delight. Leslie was a delight to work with in the booking of this incredible property. I would recommend and have recommended this place to friends. Thank you again Leslie for making this an amazing week on Bainbridge Island.

My nephew married a young lady from Bainbridge Island. We were there for the festivities and stayed for a week to enjoy the area. June's Place was a highlight of our trip...such a unique and beautiful setting. Leslie, the owner, has thought of everything and then some! We were four adults, but we still made s'mores over campfires on our private beach. I loved sitting on the lagoon-side deck for reading and, during low tide, watching the sea gulls pick up clams and drop them on the roof next door to crack them open. We hiked and biked and won $450 at the casino! Our favorite spot for walking was the Bloedel Reserve. I would love to visit Bainbridge Island again and would definitely book June's Place for my stay.

Magical Journey at June's Place

Magical Journey at June's Place
  • 5 of 5
Peaceful, tranquil, joyful, rejuvenating – all gifts that await you at June’s Place, a magical beach house at the northern tip of Bainbridge Island. The heart of this home is Leslie, a most fabulous host. Quick to respond, she supplied us with a thorough list of recommendations for things to do and places to see during our stay. June’s Place is perfect for just about everyone. The elegant and cozy front living room is extremely comfortable with a view of the Sound through windows which run the length of the house. In fact, there are views from every single window, upstairs and down, at June’s. The sea and the beach are literally outside the front door. Listen to classical music or jazz in the evening while watching the glow of the wood stove, or enjoy the sitting room in the back of the house, which overlooks the lagoon. This room is perfect for watching a movie or reading quietly while others enjoy the front room. The kitchen has everything you’ll need. It was so well-equipped and inviting that we cooked dinner at the house most evenings, instead of dining out. Hard to believe we’d skip that pleasure, but a nice piece of salmon and the view were too hard to pass up. The upstairs bedrooms are beautifully appointed and spacious, and the soaking tub in the master bath is divine.

Enjoy a walk down the beach toward Fay Bainbridge State Park. At high tide, just walk up the road along the spit and cut over to the park. Or, walk around the beach (with a view of the Olympic Mountains) toward the lagoon to find all sorts of treasures and wildlife. A Bald Eagle swooped over the front of the house one morning while we watched two otters play in the waters beyond the beach. The life around us seemed to continuously change in its own cycle and rhythm.

For comfort, views, location, value, amenities, and more, June’s Place is THE place!

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5
My husband, sister and brother in law stayed for a long two-night weekend and had a terrific stay. The view from both sides of the house is amazing and the house is cozy, very comfortable, and well taken care of. We relaxed! Leslie is great to communicate with and made our stay that much more enjoyable. We visited Bloedel Reserve (a must!), walked the spit and the state park and its beach, enjoyed gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, saw herons and otters, and explore Winslow, eating at one of Leslie's suggestions. I highly recommend a stay at June's Place!

Location

From the Owner

My property was purchased by my late parents in the 70's, originally a small cabin which was totally rebuilt in 1992 to become a year-round home for my mother, June. I have many fabulous memories of spending glorious summers here as a child and still to this day it is a place that warms my heart and soothes the soul.
