Vail is a popular spot in southeast tucson for its incredibly good school system, and its pioneer history.The old spanish trail winds through what used to be cattle country...Empire ranch, rocking k etc. New homes lie in clusters that decorate the open, rolling landscape.

Being fifteen minutes from tucson amenities are worth it as one experiences the peaceful bucolic setting. Get away from the crowded city streets and traffic noises. Guests can attend art openings, music events, and cultural activities at the nearby academy village and the vail theater of the arts. The saturday farmer's market offers local food specialties, fresh grown fruits and vegetables and a barn filled with artisan vendor stalls selling art, hand made jewelry, customized mesquite furnishings and many other tempting gift and useful household items. Comfy, Quiet House Just Outside the City

My husband and I spent 2 weeks here and enjoyed the house, neighborhood and sights of Tucson very much. It was a wonderful place to come home to after a day of exploring Tucson and southern Arizona. The house and yard were very clean when we arrived (unlike a previous VRBO in Vegas we stayed at). It was quite comfortable, with everything we needed. The kitchen was very well stocked, although we did not cook very much. King bed in the master bedroom was great to sleep on, and there was a very roomy walk-in closet and bath. We did not use the other 3 bedrooms at all, but they were all good size and could sleep several prople.
We were glad to be able to bring our dog and cat along; they both had a great time in the backyard chasing lizards. The pool was too cool to swim in when we were there, but it was relaxing to sit by it in the sun. We did use the hot tub a few times, and ate on the patio every morning.
The neighborhood is fairly new, well kept and very quiet. We took walks with the dog each morning and enjoyed seeing the desert vegetation.
The nearest grocery stores and restaurants are 15-20 min. away, but we did a lot of driving anyway, to see the attractions of Tucson. The house is located not far off of I-10, southeast of Tucson, so you feel like you are in the country. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but close enough to take advantage of what the city offered. Being on the southeast side, it was easy access and close to Tombstone, Bisbee and other towns south of Tucson.
Karen, the property manager, was great to work with. The only small glitch was not being able to get a hold of her the day we arrived, but after waiting at the house about 15 min. she did call and gave us a code to get in. She quickly came over to fix the signal on the TV in the master bedroom, and gave us some ideas for restaurants nearby. It was a wonderful place to escape the deep snow at home!

Wonderful Desert Retreat

This is a great place to come to relax after a day of being out and about, whether playing golf (make tee times online for better rates), shopping or sightseeing. Plenty of comfortable seating and a great kitchen (better equipped than normal with cooking utensils). The king size bed in the master was perfect for our sleeping preferences. The home is beautifully decorated and well maintained. The guy next door maintains the pool and hot tub and takes his job very seriously. The pool is fenced so that little ones won't wander accidentally into the pool area. Went for walks every day around the neighborhood enjoying the quiet streets, felt completely safe and were often greeted by friendly neighbors. Old Spanish Trail is a great two-lane country road that winds from this neighborhood past Saguaro National Park on your way to Tucson. You can also take the freeway (I-10) but Old Spanish Trail is far too relaxing to make the freeway a desirable option.

The property manager, Karen, is uber friendly and makes sure you have everything you need. Would highly recommend this home for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.

We chose it because of the surroundings, a cluster of homes surrounded by mountains and open range, historic cattle country. So many homesteaders brought their high hopes here and eventually sold out to the larger ranches, the largest one was the historic Empire Ranch said to have been a million acres more or less.
