Restful in-City Retreat or Ideal Location to Explore Fremont!

Property Details

Updated: Oct 8, 2014
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 3

This much loved Victorian 2nd floor unit provides a conveniently located, near-to-the-heart of Fremont retreat for two adults or for an individual, stocked and furnished with your comfort and convenience in mind. It has long been our dream to make this little home available as a quiet get-away for those needing or who desire to be in the city, and we are excited now to finally do so.

Please note: As much as we wish we could accommodate children, this unit is not suitable for young children.

At 3625 Linden, you will find your own outside entrance which opens to a small private foyer with a staircase leading to the living area:

~Living Room furnished with a European sofa which easily converts to a full sleeper

~Bedroom providing a comfortable queen-size bed and closet

~Bathroom has original claws-foot tub, great for soaking, with shower accommodation

~Kitchen and eating area amply equipped for self-catering

~Balcony offers generous space

Fremont provides untouristy taste of Seattle: Choosing to stay at Linden in Fremont gives you a chance to experience what its like to live in one of Seattlites' loved neighborhoods. While the central location makes it convenient to get downtown to see Pike's Market, The Seattle Center, and other downtown attractions, guests appreciate being able to get away from the tourist centers and hang out where locals love to eat and shop. Personally, I'm not a fan of the resident troll, but he lives just around the corner, minutes, from your door. More to my linking, the quaint Fremont Public Library and the Fremont Baptist Church, a local landmark, are just down the street. If your stay is over a Sunday, you must not miss the well-established European style Fremont Sunday Market(yr-round). This location also places you close to other wonderful neighborhoods - Wallingford and Ballard.

Beyond Fremont: If you want to explore outside of Fremont, a short walk takes you to bus stops that will connect you to downtown and to anywhere else you may need to go in the Seattle area. Only 10-15 minutes to downtown Seattle with all that it has to offer: Fantastic shopping, Seattle Art Museum, Benaroya Hall, Pike's Street Market, Seattle Waterfront, and Space Needle.

The world-class Woodland Park Zoo is a 5 minutes drive north and the spacious Gas Works Park, 5 minutes drive to the east (walkable along the Burke Gilman Trail), provides fantastic views of the city and hosts a truly spectacular fireworks display on the Fourth of July!

The Fremont Guest House also provides a perfect base from which to explore the waterways and geological treasures of the beautiful Northwest: Mt Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands, St. Helen's National Park, North Cascade National Park, day trip on the Clipper to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. So much mor

Close to Fred Hutch, UW, and SPU: Our location has also worked well for guests coming for work or medical treatment at Fred Hutchinson and also is in close proximity to the University Medical Center and University of Washington campus. We are just across the canal from the Seattle Pacific University campus.

About the Owner

My husband and I have been married 32 years and one of our favorite things to do is travel and better yet when we can sometimes do it with family and friends! We have house swapped with a family in Bristol, England, and have stayed in VRBOs ourselves in the United States and Turkey. We love meeting new people from around the world and sharing a meal or drink together when schedules permit.

a place to call home

  • 5 of 5
My sister and I stayed here Labor Day week and were totally happy with the place. The gift basket was awesome, the location could not have been better for walking to check out Fremont and for day trips to Seattle and other locations. My sister loved the bathtub and I loved the shower and the quiet hairdryer that was provided. The library is wonderful for obtaining information as we had problems accessing the internet but that was a very minor glitch. The waiters, waitresses and restaurant owners were so warm and gracious at all the locations we dined at in Fremont and the food could not have been better (Hunger, Chiso's , Roxie Diner, Revel to name a few).
Thank you Joanna and John for everything and all the recommendations. It was great to have a nice quiet home away from home.

We hope to come back again.

Beyond our Expectations

  • 5 of 5
We came out from Dallas to visit some friends, check out Seattle, and to see the Freemont Solstice parade. We were completely surprised at the proximity of this house to everything. This is a beautiful old (but updated!) house right smack dab in the middle of Freemont. My very pregnant wife and I were able to walk to just about everything in the Freemont area (although the hill leading back up to the house from Freemont was steep for her). It's also just off highway 99, which makes travel to Downtown and north to the peninsula very easy as well. Our friends who visited even wanted to rent it permanently!

We would stay here again in a heartbeat. JoAnna and her husband are incredibly accommodating, and just good people.

Having stayed in dozens and dozens of vacation rentals around the world over the years, we can honestly say this is one of THE BEST we've ever stayed in.

John and JoAnna have done an amazing job of providing comfort, convenience, and charm with this super-cute condo. From the amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom (pretty rare in most vacation rentals but plentiful here) to the great recommendations on local attractions to the spotless condition of the property, everything was TOP NOTCH. Wireless internet? Check. Hairdryer? Check. Free laundry? Check. Walk-able neighborhood? Check. Comfortable and up-to-date furniture? Yup!

Really want to stay in a boring hotel room vs. this charming condo? No way!
Like staying outside the city and driving everywhere/all the time or want an in-city retreat where you can walk to local bars, restaurants, shops, and cafes?? Bingo!!

This property has it all!

A wonderful introduction to Fremont!

  • 5 of 5
The listing description of this property was very accurate, and the photos completely reflected the cuteness of the apartment. The apartment itself was spotless, in a great location, and Joanna had thoughtfully provided some snacks which allowed us to have coffee and breakfast (apples) the next morning without having to find a market. Everything worked, and the internet was easy to access. Joanna was very helpful in answering questions and remaining in contact. I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends, and I plan to try to use it again myself.

From the Owner

This 100+ year old Victorian duplex has been in our family for over 60 years and holds the threshold over which my husband's father carried his bride when coming home from WW2 in 1946. Three years ago our daughter and her husband were excited to be able to follow in those footsteps by beginning their married life in the cozy quarters of 3625 Linden before heading to another area for school and employment. This location begs to be shared and we are hoping you give us an opportunity to do so.
