Fremont provides untouristy taste of Seattle: Choosing to stay at Linden in Fremont gives you a chance to experience what its like to live in one of Seattlites' loved neighborhoods. While the central location makes it convenient to get downtown to see Pike's Market, The Seattle Center, and other downtown attractions, guests appreciate being able to get away from the tourist centers and hang out where locals love to eat and shop. Personally, I'm not a fan of the resident troll, but he lives just around the corner, minutes, from your door. More to my linking, the quaint Fremont Public Library and the Fremont Baptist Church, a local landmark, are just down the street. If your stay is over a Sunday, you must not miss the well-established European style Fremont Sunday Market(yr-round). This location also places you close to other wonderful neighborhoods - Wallingford and Ballard.
Beyond Fremont: If you want to explore outside of Fremont, a short walk takes you to bus stops that will connect you to downtown and to anywhere else you may need to go in the Seattle area. Only 10-15 minutes to downtown Seattle with all that it has to offer: Fantastic shopping, Seattle Art Museum, Benaroya Hall, Pike's Street Market, Seattle Waterfront, and Space Needle.
The world-class Woodland Park Zoo is a 5 minutes drive north and the spacious Gas Works Park, 5 minutes drive to the east (walkable along the Burke Gilman Trail), provides fantastic views of the city and hosts a truly spectacular fireworks display on the Fourth of July!
The Fremont Guest House also provides a perfect base from which to explore the waterways and geological treasures of the beautiful Northwest: Mt Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands, St. Helen's National Park, North Cascade National Park, day trip on the Clipper to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. So much mor
Close to Fred Hutch, UW, and SPU: Our location has also worked well for guests coming for work or medical treatment at Fred Hutchinson and also is in close proximity to the University Medical Center and University of Washington campus. We are just across the canal from the Seattle Pacific University campus.
My husband and I have been married 32 years and one of our favorite things to do is travel and better yet when we can sometimes do it with family and friends! We have house swapped with a family in Bristol, England, and have stayed in VRBOs ourselves in the United States and Turkey. We love meeting new people from around the world and sharing a meal or drink together when schedules permit.
Thank you for very warm welcome in your apartment! We travel a lot, stayed in many apartments so far but this one is by far the best one! We will be back most likely in two years :) All the best to you.
“This 100+ year old Victorian duplex has been in our family for over 60 years and holds the threshold over which my husband's father carried his bride when coming home from WW2 in 1946. Three years ago our daughter and her husband were excited to be able to follow in those footsteps by beginning their married life in the cozy quarters of 3625 Linden before heading to another area for school and employment. This location begs to be shared and we are hoping you give us an opportunity to do so.”
This eclectic neighborhood boasts of over 50 eateries, 17 bakeries and cafes, and 17 listed bars and pubs! Whether it's The Flying Apron, a gluten-free bakery, Simply Desserts, possibly the best cake shop in the world (thankfully you can buy, by the slice!), or enjoying a pint and daily food special at the Red Door, you'll find it's all in your neighborhood. So is the Puget Consumer Co-op, a natural foods grocery, amply stocked with everything from wine to ice-cream. And then there is the shopping: Bookstores, boutiques galore, music and flower shops. The Burke Gilman trail (42 miles in unbroken length!), wonderful for biking or walking, is a short walk away and borders the scenic water-way between Lake Union and the Puget Sound. This provides a wonderful in-city spot for picnicking, outside reading, or people and boat watching. There is no shortage of what to do in Fremont! Unless walking is a problem, your car can stay parked; all of the above is with-in EASY walking distance!
