2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 5

Discover island lifestyle in this artistically renovated, contemporary farmhouse property. Convenient mid-isle location, and only 3 miles from Vashon town center. A five minute walk reaches a rare wetland tidal salt marsh that opens onto to KVI beach, one of Vashon's best sandy beaches (about 1 mile in length). Birders will enjoy the wide variety of both migrating and 'local island' fowl who live in this water system. From the home, expect sunrise views and soaring bald eagles and red-tailed hawks over the expansive views of Puget Sound from any of the 3 east-facing decks. Take advantage of the large covered front porch in case of rain. The half-acre gardens have been enthusiastically landscaped to reflect a variety of outdoor 'rooms.'

Two en-suite bedrooms occupy the second floor -- the large master suite offers a vaulted ceiling with ceiling fan, king sized bed, large 4 piece bath with shower and soaker tub. Both rooms in the master suite offer views of Puget Sound. The second west-facing bedroom offers queen bed, private bath with shower. Main floor features an open entertaining area: kitchen, dining and family room. A large deck opens off the dining room. Smaller deck with propane BBQ opens off the lounge. Contemporary kitchen is updated with high end appliances and gas cook top. First floor also offers a separate library/media room which includes a large window seat and wood fireplace. Powder room and laundry room are also conveniently located on the first floor. A separate studio/guest room with private entrance includes a double-sized window seat/bed. The space can accommodate a personal practice for yoga, pilates or dance, or just a quiet 'away' space for reading or meditating. Includes powder room with toilet and sink. Most of the artistic architectural features of the house are from the hands of local Vashon artists. This special home offers both a quiet retreat and a central place to explore Vashon Island and Puget Sound.

About the Owner

We have lived on and off Vashon Island for over 20 years. Each time we've relocated, we are always drawn back. We currently split our time between Vashon and Vancouver, BC.

A wonderful week in a NW paradise!

This house is just wonderful. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful and hot week on Vashon in a house which exceeded all of our expectations. It is spotlessly clean, sunny, bright and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and everything is brand new or perfectly vintage. Easy access to everything Vashon has to offer.

I highly recommend this house to fellow Pirate Camp-ers, Seattle vacationers and everyone else. You will be so happy to land here.

We found Tramp Harbour House to be a wonderful vacation spot for myself, my husband, our two grown daughters, and the oldest boyfriend. My younger daughter slept in the separate yoga studio where a woodpecker visited her one morning!

The kitchen, living room and dining room were comfortable and we used them well. The kitchen is well-stocked and we were able to use the fresh produce from local farm stands to real advantage. We made some use of the media room, but the owners dogs clearly use that room alot so my husband, who is very allergic, wasn't able to use it. The rest of the house was fine, and the owners have an extensive video collection.

I really enjoyed having my breakfast outside on the back deck. The view was wonderful and peaceful. The landscaping was special as well.

The master bedroom was high end and the large bathroom was spa-like. I really enjoyed soaking in the tub after a long day. The bed was very comfortable.

The area had lots to offer: the kids went kayaking every day; we toured the farmstands; went on a local garden tour (which was fantastic), and went shopping in downtown Seattle one day. Getting on and off the island was less of an issue than we had expected.

Cindy was very communicative throughout our stay and even offered to mail back the kayak lock we had left wrapped around a tree in the front yard.

Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a family looking to spend some time together.

Owner's Response: So glad the property worked for your family! It's important for all guests to note that this home is dog friendly (when we visit, we bring our two hypo-allergenic pooches), but is professionally cleaned after every stay.

Thanks for taking the time to write.

From the Owner

We purchased this particular property for the view and the location: mid isle and close to the beach. It had just the right 'bones' from which we could express our own renovation and gardening ideas.

Vashon Island is known for its strong artist community and outdoor activities: biking, kayaking, fishing, beachcombing, trail walking, birding. There is an extensive island trail system that includes both forest and beach trails. Kayak & canoe rentals are available in Quartermaster Harbor. Several boutique wineries and a spirits distillery offer weekend tastings. Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie continues to use Heirloom beans and a vintage roaster to roast its signature coffee which has been in local production for 40 years. The 100-year old building also includes an organic market -- offering products and hand-crafted goods from several island farms. In the summer, it's also home to a hand-made ice cream emporium. In addition to exploring Vashon's markets, galleries and restaurants, visitors can easily spend a day in downtown Seattle discovering Pike Place Market and the Seattle Art Museum. Tacoma offers the Pt. Defiance Zoo (walkable from the ferry) and the Glass Museum in the downtown area. Island bus service is available (a 5 minute walk from the home), and shuttle service to and from airports and train stations is also available. The island offers three ferry options: a 20 minute ride off the north end to Seattle, a 15 minute ride off the south end to Tacoma, a 10 minute ride off the north end to the Olympic Peninsula. It's a 2 hour drive to Mt. Rainier, 2 1/2 hours to the Olympic National Park (including the Victorian city of Port Townsend -- another charming waterfront artist community). For skiers, Snoqualmie Pass is an hour's drive from the north end ferry terminal on the mainland.
