Fantastic

This little cabin was perfect for us and had everything we could possibly need. It was clean and exactly as pictured on the internet. The owners even took their time and came over to met us and to see if we needed anything. It is in a great location for sightseeing at Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Lake Sylvan, Needles Highway and Custer State Park. We even took a day trip to the Badlands. I would recommend this property to anyone needing a place to stay in the area..

Delightful vacation home

  • 5 of 5
Perfect getaway for our vacation to the Black Hills. Cabin was clean and comfortable and located within easy driving distance to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Mickelson Trail. Loved the feeling of being in the country, quiet evenings and being able to see the stars at night but yet convenient to Custer for dining and shopping. Have already recommended the place to a friend at work who is interested in visiting the area next year.

Beautiful cabin ideally located between Custer and the State Park. Very very clean and quite. Prefect for my wife and I. We met Ken who was very friendly. We have no complaints but would ask that you look into installing wifi. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and look forward to visiting again. We have already recommended the cabin to a friend who is planning a trip.

Owner's Response: Great to hear the cabin worked well for you. We do have Wifi in the cabin but did not realize our guest was unable to connect to it until it was mentioned in the review.

Great location to all the sights in the Black Hills! The home is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need. The owners are more than accommodating to renters needs. Ken even helped get my motorcycle started the morning we went to leave and it was dead as a doornail! Thank you so much!! The bike was fine the rest of the way home to Indiana and actually didn't need a battery after checking with the Honda dealer. Lil devil just didn't want to leave the Black Hills nor did I !! Thank you again Ken and Marcy

A great home base for an extended weekend in the Black Hills

  • 5 of 5
This place was a great place to stay for our 4 night trip to the Black Hills. My wife and I had been up there 3 previous times, and we'd always camped at nearby Stockade Lake North campground. But we no longer have our Travel Trailer, and we wanted to take our granddaughters up there so they could experience the area. The place is nicely appointed with all the necessary ammenities, and as indicated in the write-up, most everything is brand new (except the 60's era dining table and chair set, but it is in great shape and adds character to the place, gotta love turquoise vinyl!). The location is wonderful, only 4 miles from the town of Custer, which is our preferred "home base town" when visiting the area. That is about as far as we had to travel to town from the campground when we used to stay there.

Having a washer dryer turned out to be a great perq, after getting caught in a deluge downpour... and needing to clean soaked and dirty clothing! The fridge has an ice maker, and the kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals, which saves a ton of money!

If I have any criticisms, and they are NOT a big deal, is that the TV only had 3-4 channels (antenna), which was tough on our teenaged granddaughters. But we survived. Also, the Queen bed is a bit on the firm side for our liking, but we were usually so tired by day's end, it really didn't matter.

Oh, and there is wifi! It is not mentioned in the write-up, but it is there and works well! That saved the day with the teenagers!

Thanks Ken, appreciate your hospitality and the place.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. The table is from my youth growing up on the family farm. Wanted to share it with our guest's so had the chairs recovered so it could be placed in the cabin. We recently added Wifi to keep our guest connected. We do have a video library in the cabin but hope that guest do bring along their favorite video's for a rainy day.

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our time here. The cabin is very clean and the layout worked well for our family. The kids loved the bunk beds and watching the horses go by from the near by horse camp. The cabin is located south of Custer. While it is out in the country, it is on a surprisingly busy road with fairly high speed traffic. That said, it was still very quiet with plenty of privacy. We will certainly consider renting it again the next time we are in the Black Hills and highly recommend it to others.

Location

From the Owner

In 2005 my wife and I were looking for a place in the Black Hills for when we were able to retire that was centrally located to all that the Hills have to offer. We built this cabin and have used it for our many vacations to the Black Hills. Being adjacent to the national forest we have enjoyed many beautiful hikes and abundant wildlife just outside our door way. Since we recently completed the building of our permanent home we are now able to share this piece of heaven with others.
