Historic Tybee Island Bakery refurbished into a beautiful family vacation home!
On Tybee Island, “The Bakery” stands alone. It is not only a Tybee historical site, but is also the first house in Georgia to be fitted with solar panels, quietly tucked away and hidden on the roof. In a pleasant neighborhood on the north end of the island, it is just a short walk or drive to the north beach on Tybee. Your family can easily access the beach and the nightlife, but won’t feel smothered by other beach goers or the inevitable evening revelry of Tybee’s ultra-fun main strip. “The Bakery” is a drastically remodeled decommissioned Army bakery built circa 1925. Renovation by the current owner began in 2001 and no modern amenity was
overlooked while maintaining all of its quirk and charm.
“The Bakery” is the perfect rental for a family looking to vacation on fun and beautiful Tybee Island. Its yard is equipped with a swing and a Rolls Royce of a grill for Dad. Enjoying the perfect Tybee Island weather doesn’t stop there. As you enter through the side door, you’ll find a gorgeous sunroom with lights and a fan for the nighttime and a unique swing bed for lounging.
The house itself is custom-suited for a big family. The kitchen table seats 8 and is made of the old doors to the bakery finished with glass and photos of the renovation process. The kitchen itself is equipped with a dishwasher, full gas range, a huge oven, coffee-maker, breakfast bar, kitchen island, granite countertops……the works.
The vaulted ceilings and the working fireplace give “The Bakery” a sense of grandeur. The TV area of the main room seats 6 facing the flat screen TV and several more in an area more for chatting. The two kids’ rooms have two twin beds each, totaling four twins, and ample room to play. The rooms also have a very large stand-up shower and bathroom adjoining all to themselves. The master bedroom has a queen bed, wardrobe, and a luxurious master bathroom.
Renting homes from Southern Belle is painless and professional. We take credit cards and require a $500.00 deposit to confirm the booking which is applied towards the remaining balance. For example, if your total bill is $1,000, we will take a $500 deposit and your remaining balance will be $500. Thirty days prior to your arrival our booking software will charge the balance automatically. We also sell Traveler`s Insurance which covers medical cancellations.
Upon making a reservation with us, you will receive an email confirmation instantly and be able to go directly to the property with no need to check in at our office as all of our homes have lockboxes with keys.
