Welcome to “La Caja de Joyas” or “The Jewel Box”, our family’s private and relaxing vacation property. We are located in the quite community of Playa Langosta, Tamarindo. Playa Langosta is an upscale community with a variety of shops and services as well as an amazing beach suitable for family swimming and some of the best surfing in the area. You can beach walk for miles or just relax and enjoy the amazing climate and rustic feel of the area. A short walk, 2 minute drive or taxi takes you into the commercial center of Tamarindo where there are many more shops, clubs and restaurants lining the beach. When not at the beach book an adventure tour, enjoy an afternoon/sunset sailing cruise, go turtle watching, take in a fitness class or just relax and enjoy a frozen Mojito, one of our favorite guilty pleasures while watching the evening sunsets. Or enjoy some delicious Costa Rican coffee at one of the specialty shops close by. You can also attend the Saturday market where local produce and arts and crafts are offered up.

Let us help you get to some of the best Costa Rican attractions, volcano areas or ancient ruins. There are lots to do for whole family. Our property is a wonderful mix of Spanish style architecture combined with a clean and modern interior. Rental rates include taxes, all utilities and cleaning prior to check in and at check out. The property is also cleaned when unoccupied to ensure it is kept in the best possible condition. Floors are tiled and countertops are granite throughout. The tray ceilings and custom cabinets and doors add additional interest to the overall attractive interior. There is plenty of space in the open concept kitchen/living area with room to relax, entertain or socialize with family and friends.

We are a Canadian family who enjoy our second home in Costa Rica and are happy to share it with others when we are not there. Our objective is to provide the most relaxing and enjoyable experience we can in the same manor that we enjoy Tamarindo/Playa Langosta. We stay in close touch with our guests and have a friend and property manager who lives in Tamarindo that will support your stay as well. He can be reached at any time and provides many additional personalized services to the very few properties he manages. As a retired couple we have set the property up as our second home and leave it as we use it for our guests. You will find it very comfortable, clean and well maintained.

We were very sure we had rented a very comfortable condo before we even left for Costa Rica and we were not disappointed. This condo has everything one could ask for, especially when staying for a month as we did. The beds are comfortable, the showers were great with lots of hot water. Condo furnishing were top notch. We spent a lot of time in the pool which was exceptionally clean. The patio which was well furnished was quite a good size. The kitchen is well stocked with essential small appliances, a great microwave and stove. We found the washer and dryer very convenient. The security and grounds keeper, Alvaro, was great in helping us out in any way he could. The condo is a 15 minute walk into Tamarindo which we did frequently. We also caught the bus one day which goes by the condo many times a day. There is a small store around the corner which sold most things we were in need of. Another larger supermarket on the way to Tamarindo. The beach is a two minute walk and great for early morning walks. Tamarindo itself has loads of good restaurants, and some nice shops. Overall, a great visit to Costa Rica made even better by our comfort at the condo.

Beautiful condo - as advertised. Spacious condo with all needed amenities and well stocked kitchen. The best was the large balcony with table and couch - ate here everyday. Upper deck great for sun tanning, watching birds, watching sunsets, drying clothes and barbecuing.Quiet complex away from hustle and bustle of main town - but close enough to walk. Playa Langosta only a block away and Tamarindo about 20 min walk. Even saw Howler monkeys in trees right in front of condo complex.

Awesome stay at La Caja de Joyas during Winter Recess

We had a great stay at La Caja de Joyas during Xmas and New Years with our two children (11 and 16). The unit is exactly as advertised. Very comfortably furnished with many amenities including good internet access, Apple tv, etc. We spent time at both the Langosta beach and beaches in Tamarindo. Tamarindo is a 15 minute walk by road or 20 by walking the beach which we would highly recommend. We would definitely recommend visiting the sports bar which is a half a block away. Friendly atmosphere for adults and children. The private pool provides a peaceful and relaxing retreat from the beaches when desired. Their are many activities to be enjoyed in the area. We tried surfing, zip lining and boogie boarding but relaxing at the beach cannot be overlooked either. Finally, the owners of this property were a great help and very accommodating. Many questions we had before and during our stay were answered in a timely manner. We are hoping to be back next year!

Best Family Get Away

We are a family of 5 and stayed here in mid August. First of all the property was exactly as listed, which is always a concern when booking on line. The owner was very helpful to us and everything was as he stated. The condo was very clean and homely. Tamarindo itself was what we expected. We had great fun learning how to surf, and enjoyed a day of zip lining which was a great adventure. The town is about a 15 minute walk which we enjoyed everyday. We cooked at home a lot and loved getting the fresh fish and vegetables locally. There is a quality supermarket about 10 mins away by car and a local mini mart around the corner.
All in all we had a wonderful time and would go back in the future.

A Dream Vacation in Langosta

I cannot offer anything but the highest praise of both 'La Caja de Joyas' and it's lovely owners, Clem & Kelly, who were beyond accommodating in helping me plan all aspects of my time in Costa Rica (before and during my trip) . . .

This visit was my 3rd time to CR, and the Tamarindo area. Choosing to stay in Langosta, in a condo was the right decision. I stayed for a month in the incredibly comfortable, well appointed and beautiful property. I live, work and am a graduate student in NYC and chose La Caja de Joyas as a much needed escape from the City to do some adventuring, writing, a bit of work and lots of relaxing. It was a successful refresh indeed!

I enjoyed every part of my day - cooking for myself in the beautiful and modern kitchen and outdoor grill, enjoying my Costa Rican coffee and writing each morning on the balcony, morning surf sessions, afternoons by the quite (almost private) pool and sunsets on the beach (a 4 minute walk) . . . The neighbors were lovely and I always felt safe and secure - even as a lady traveling on my own. My mother visited for a week and we took a few awesome day trips from Langosta, but always enjoyed returning from our adventures to comfort of La Caja De Joyas. Another week, 2 friends visited and we enjoyed spending time in Tamarindo each day (just a short walk, bike or taxi).

My only advisement to potential guest is beware that you may fall so deeply in love with Langosta and Guapinol that you wont ever want to stop living La Pura Vida . . . I can't wait to return!

Very Nice Condo in Playa Langosta

Very nice condo in Playa Langosta. Very clean with all of the amenities of home. I'll keep this fairly short and tell you what you really want to know. 1-Very clean, 2-Everything worked great, frig, DW, W & D, dvd, tv & A/C's, 3-Pool was clean and very nice, 4-Short 5 minute walk to the beach. Would highly recommend to anyone with youngsters all the way up to teens.

This condo it is so closed to the white sand beach of Langosta, the estuary and ocean breezes, the sea birds, amazing sunsets, a real natural paradise. The Leather Backs turtles (largest in the world) nest in Playa Langosta and howler monkeys are known to visit our terrace from time to time and are always close by! Tamarindo is a great town with a beautiful beach. Great for surfing and swimming. Tamarindo has a full set of services as well as great shopping, world class restaurants and nightlife. You will find the property to be very safe and Langosta to be the perfect balance of a relaxing community with easy access to the commercial centre of Tamarindo.

Almost limitless options for shopping, restaurants, tours, activities of all sorts. Tamarindo is well developed but retains a very rustic non commercial feel. Beaches are amazing, weather in this spot on the Nicoya Peninsula is some of the driest, nicest weather in all of Central America. It is what attracted so many to this location after the International Airport was opened in Liberia, about 45 minutes from Tamarindo.

Very safe and secure, locked security gate at ground floor entry to private stairway leading to the 2nd floor condo. Large security safe for storing smaller laptops, tablets, and all your other important items and documents. Roof top is an open terrace with a BBQ, pergola and great for star watching at night. The Villa Guapinol complex of only 9 units means the common area is never crowded or noisy. The shaded patio is critical with such warm tropical days. It remains cool and comfortable for most of the day and is close to and overlooking the pool area so constant contact between the living area and pool area is easy and convenient for your family or group. Our internet/WiFi service is an upgraded version providing higher access speeds and supporting good audio and video/streaming services. We have two modern WiFi routers on site. One Linksys and one Apple ensuring easy and reliable connections. Costa Rica and this area have experience water shortages in the past. Daytime water has been cut off to the entire area at times. If this happens the Villa Guapinol complex has a back up water tank and water on site is provided via a private water pump which ensures water services are extended during those times. It has worked well and the pump was replaced for 2015 to ensure reliable water services to all owners and guests.
