2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, sleeps 6

Lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage, sunroom with water views, large living room, cable and high-speed internet, new kitchen appliances, central AC, oil heat, ceiling fans, two TVs, master bath, fully furnished. Off-street parking and a nice yard with a grill for outdoor cooking. And it's just 60 steps from the beach!

Broadkilll Beach is a hidden gem on the Delaware Bay. Drive through the PrimeHook Wildlife Refuge (check this out!) to a small strip of beach that is The Broadkill. It goes approximately 2 miles in both directions from the main cross street. This is a great place to get your run in. There is only one commercial property that the locals call 'The Mall', where you can get most everything that you might need to enhance your stay. You might feel, at times, that you have the beach to yourself! The people of the area are terrific, friendly and make you feel welcome.

When you need to be near the hustle and bustle of the popular shore points, it's only a short drive away. Wander over rte 16 to the little town of Milton or make your way south on rte 1 towards the beaches of Lewes, Cape Henlopen, Rehoboth, Dewey, and Bethany. Take a 90 minute ferry boat ride on the Cape May/Lewes Ferry out of Cape Henlopen. Spend the day in victorian Cape May, New Jersey. Take your car, bicycle or just walk aboard. There is a trolly on the other side that can take you to town. Get some fresh, right off the boat, scallops at the dockside restaurant at The Lobster House. Check out Morrows Nut House on the boardwalk for some dessert. Of course you have to play some skeeball or you could wait until you get back to Rehoboth to try your hand at that. The SeaShell shop miniature golf always looks fun, back on Rte 1 in Delaware, or maybe you want to check out all of the outlets. Save that for a rainy day as well as the movie theater that is close by too.

For me, a fun day at the beach is always great; Maybe have your morning coffee on the bench overlooking the bay;start in the morning with a walk to look for seashells; ride the waves; rent a paddleboard or soak up some Vitamin D; then a cookout - I can smell the charcoal-maybe some juicy cheeseburgers tonight? and don't forget the smores. On a clear night, look up and see the billions of stars that you won't ever see at home! It's amazing! Open all the windows at night so you can hear the waves while you have the best night's sleep ever! HAVE FUN!!

About the Owner

We have been vacationing at the Delaware beaches for over 30 years and never knew about the hidden gem on the bay that is Broadkill Beach. We visited the area with friends and instantly felt at home. We think you'll love it, too!

Great place, even better location!!!

  • 4 of 5
The very first thing we noticed when we pulled into the driveway was the closeness to the beach. You can literally toss a rock into the ocean from the front yard. When we walked up to the beach, it was so pleasant to not have to deal with a bunch of people taking all the good spots. The beach itself is basically all yours!!! As for the house itself, we were very impressed with the attention to detail. There were no shortage of utensils, plates, glasses, etc... The stove and refrigerator are both top of the line appliances and there was also a microwave, toaster and - most importantly - a coffee maker! The house is decorated very nicely and the sun room was a favorite for my daughter. I can't leave a review, however, without listing the pros and cons. After all, NOBODY and NOTHING is perfect in this world. The two things that turned me off were the fact that we are being charged a linen fee for using four towels, although we brought our own sheets and pillow cases. I wish I would have known that ahead of time because we would have brought our own towels. The other turnoff was the very limited amount of channels on the television. We stayed from Friday till Monday and we not able to watch any sports at all because there were no ESPN channels and no basic channels that most people have like TNT and TBS. Once you got past like channel 19, almost every single channel said "unauthorized". But, considering that these are my only two complaints, I'd say that' a pretty good review. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and we plan on staying here in the future.

Perfect weather; comfortable and quiet accommodations; great wildlife access

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed the beach, the wildlife refuge, cooking in the small but adequate kitchen. There were never so many people that the beach felt crowded, and everything was quiet most of the time. The major disappointment was that the wildlife refuge, less than a mile north, was inaccessible by bicycle or on foot--one had to drive or ride all the way around to get to where the osprey are nesting.

Perfect Quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5
This house is just great and only a few short steps from the beach. Quiet and relaxing. You'll really feel like you have the beach to yourself. Neighbors were extremely friendly. The cottage itself is very cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed for the long weekend. Town action is only a few miles away including the Cape May Ferry if you want to mix it up. If you're looking for a weekend to UNPLUG and breathe, this is the place.

Great spot

  • 5 of 5
Great spot for us, a family of four interested in outdoor activities and not being in the middle of crowds. We loved being so close to a great beach and I loved being able to launch my canoe from right there. The house is fine, but the location is great. If you want the crowds and boardwalk and stuff served to you, though, look elsewhere.

Great cottage by a tranquil beach

  • 5 of 5
Loved staying here at this neat, clean and adorable beach house steps from the water. The house is just what you need for a relaxing week away. Stock up the fridge, grill out, and just enjoy this place. You can hear the waves at night - only one house in from the beach. Far enough away from civilization to truly feel like you have had a vacation.

Nice beach cottage!

First vacation to Delaware beaches and loved it! This cozy beach cottage on broadkill beach is a great location and easily sleeps 6. We choose this place for the location to Dover because we went to the firefly music festival. Worked out perfect, beach and festival all in one! Owners were very accommodative and friendly!

From the Owner

Getting to the cottage is an easy drive since the route takes you away from the shore traffic. The best of both worlds, Broadkill Beach is a quiet and secluded place to relax in the sun, and it's also close to the nightlife, restaurants and shopping of the shore points. Also close by are Cape Henlopen State Park, and the Cape May/Lewes Ferry.
