A great flat for enjoying New Orleans

  • 5 of 5
I try and visit New Orleans at least one a year, and preferably in December. I've stayed in hotels in the Quarter but prefer apartments or small houses located on or near Magazine Street. Lance's place fit the bill for this past trip, a gathering of my two sons, one significant other and my wife (it was her birthday). Lance's play was quite comfortable for five - two bedrooms and a comfortable couch (a blow up bed was provided, but my younger son chose the couch). The location is perfect, with easy access to the Quarter and the Garden District by either bus or trolley. A cab ride from Frenchman Street at 2 a.m. was only $15. And Magazine Street is a delight. Additionally, Lance is a very helpful - and available - host.

Great location to downtown and uptown

  • 4 of 5
Perfect house for a girls reunion trip. It was close enough to the uptown magazine street shopping and bars along with a quick cab ride to the quarter. My only concern was that the lock on the front door did not have a deadbolt, but I could have been mistaken and overlooked the keys to the deadbolt. Otherwise this is very safe as you have to climb some stairs to the apartment. Perfect for what we needed that weekend!

Amazing neighborhood, Great house

  • 5 of 5
Three of us stayed here for the weekend and it was so perfect for us. The house is clean and the beds comfortable (2 main things). But what I loved most was the neighborhood! To walk out our door and find great food, shopping, groceries - everything we needed - was special. Thanks, Lance, for a great NOLA experience.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5
Lance was extremely responsive and worked with our group (two young couples) to provide an early check in. The apartment was perfect for 4 people and had everything we needed - hair dryer, washer/dryer in kitchen, plenty of pillows and blankets, and wi-fi. Right off Magazine St. and only 4-5 blocks from the street car, it was the perfect location and had plenty to do in the area when we wanted something low key. Definitely recommend!

Myself, my husband and another couple stayed here for a long weekend of bike riding around New Orleans. The location and accomodations were perefect in every way. Lance was very quick to respond to any issues or needs. We felt very safe in this location. We will absolutley return again for another stay.

Cute condo off Magazine - perfect for small families or two young couples

  • 5 of 5
This unit is a tidy, recently renovated vintage shotgun apartment in NOLA. Up a flight of stairs about one building off Magazine Street - but a surprisingly quiet and very safe area. No loud bars or neighbors. (I had been concerned that there would be a lot of noise from two nearby hospitals, but didn't hear anything.) Walk two mins to Magazine Bus #11, ten minutes to St Charles St streetcar, or ten minutes in either direction on Magazine to more restaurants, bars and shops than you could possibly hit in a week - we tried, and failed. (You don't need a car, but there is offstreet parking).

The unit is tastefully decorated; nothing over the top, just simple furniture and a couple of pieces of art to give it a bit of personality (but not so much to go over board). King sized bed and ceiling fan in master is a nice touch. Plenty of storage space and a washer/dryer in unit. Shower was clean and works well. Off-street parking. Lance the owner is a nice guy and attempts to accommodate his guests' needs and requests the best that he can.

I think it's great value for money, as long as you're comfortable being a bit farther out from the Quarter (as a repeat visitor, I think that's a feature, not a bug) and aren't looking for some über modern, new build fancy pants condominium/mansion. It ain't the latter, but if you spend all of your time in your lodging while in NOLA, you're really missing the point.

Location

From the Owner

If you want an authentic New Orleans experience come see me. This is not for the French Quarter tourist (no offense) This is a true neighborhood feel. You can walk, shop, eat, and discover to your hearts content. I've lived in this city for 20 years. I would not want to live anywhere else. Just blocks to the Uptown parade routs, fantastic cemetaries, Audobon Park and Zoo. Come on by and pass a GREAT time.
