Great location; great rental

  • 5 of 5
This is a perfectly restored home in a very central location. The neighborhood has many good restaurants; some are only a block or two away. Don't miss Mandina's, a favorite with New Orleans natives, essentially right across Canal Street. The Canal street car can get you down to the French Quarter or out to City Park very conveniently. The house was immaculate and well stocked with towels and everything else we needed. We look forward to returning.

Reunion/French Quarter Fest

  • 5 of 5
I arranged a family reunion during French Quarter Fest, and chose this house for the out of town family. Great choice. The house is well appointed with comfortable beds, lots of room for family gatherings, and a modern kitchen with all the necessary utensils and pots. All my family members felt safe in the neighborhood and we walked to several of the restaurants in the area.

But the location is great, right near Carrollton and Canal. We hopped on the streetcar to go to the FQF and didn't have to fight traffic or pay for parking. The neighborhood also includes many fine restaurants such as Mandina's, Katie's, Angelo Brocatto's, Liuzza's, 2 supermarkets and a seafood market with delicious boiled crawfish.

I recommend this rental to anyone wanting a convenient location, and a safe neighborhood with plenty of dining options.

Great house, great location.

This is a wonderful house. Comfortable and very well kept, with a helpful and gracious host, it was a key part of making for a great trip for my family.
The nearby street car makes car-free transportation easy to a lot of fun places - downtown, the quarter. It's also a convenient driving location for many areas around the city.
We ate twice at restaurants walkable from the house and enjoyed both - Mandina's for classic New Orleans fare, and the Canal Street Bistro. There's also nearby stores for all a traveler's needs - drugstore, grocery, etc.
All in all we had a great visit to New Orleans and picking this house was a big factor in our success.

Great New Orleans house for Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, or just to see the city!

  • 5 of 5
We rented this wonderful house for 5 days during Mardi Gras. Our party of eight included two couples in their fifties and four recent college graduates. This house had plenty of room for all of us to spread out and use the space. Charles, the owner, carefully restored this beautiful family home, but added modern upgrades like an induction cook top, an ice maker and wonderful linens to make it super comfortable for guests. The Mid-City location is very safe, and convenient to all parts of the city. It was perfect for Mardi Gras, especially on Saturday Night when the Endymion parade rolled right around the corner! During our stay, we were able to entertain some local friends who came by and enjoyed the spacious house with us. We took both the bus and the Trolley car into the French Quarter for $1.25. From this location, a car is not necessary. If you prefer, cabs can take you anywhere you want to go. There was plenty of parking in the driveway and the street for our four cars. We walked to two great restaurants, Katie's and Liuzza's. The Rock n' Bowl is very close for some live music. We also walked to buy groceries, and to the drug store. It was a perfect place! Thanks to Charles for opening his house up to VRBO! We will definitely return and highly recommend this house!

Fabulous house! Right on Canal Street trolley car line.

I stayed at this beautiful home to celebrate my 40th birthday in New Orleans. This house has EVERYTHING you could need - beyond the stocked linens, there was toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, dishwashing soap, detergent, etc - everything you could need - you just show up & get ready to enjoy your stay. The house was decorated SO beautifully - the furniture is gorgeous! I really enjoyed my stay here & Charles (the owner) is an awesome person. It was great working with him to set up my stay for me & my family & also was available for anything we needed. Also, the house is about a 10-15 minute trolley ride to downtown (Bourbon street area). Definitely recommend the New Orleans city tour if it's your first time - was about a 2 hour bus ride. Great city & great house!

From the Owner

This property was purchased in 1923 by the owner's great grandfather because he loved the close proximity to down town and all of the conveniences of the area and right on the Street Car line, and for those same reasons is why I love the old 100+ year old home. That's why I had to completely renovate it and make it more cozy for me and you to stay in the beautiful city of New Orleans. This is my second home when I'm in town.

Go to the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Park and many fine eateries and shopping along the way. See several Mardi Gras Parades along Canal St. and just sit on the front porch and watch or walk over to the edge of Canal St. to catch a pile of Beads and have your own bth. rm. and Kitchen right near by. All of New Orleans Festivals, Parties, and activities can be reached by the Street Car witch runs just steps from your front door on Canal St. Also joining my property right next door is the Canal St. Bistro, a great place to dine. We are proud to be located just across the street from the beautiful historical property and gorgeous manicured grounds of the Schoen's funeral home fronting on Canal St. This is one of the safest areas in the N. O. area.
