2 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6 In Wonderful, Convenient Location

Lovely 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment in quiet, residential Uptown neighborhood convenient to everything.

Newly renovated with hardwood floors, eleven foot ceilings, ceiling fans, central air and heat, wireless internet, 37' LCD HD flat screen TV, washer, dryer, gas stove, microwave, balcony overlooking charming New Orleans street. Parking available on street.

The apartment is on the second floor of a Victorian house. You enter into the living room which is open to the dining area and the kitchen. In the front of the house is one bedroom which opens onto the balcony. In the back is the second bedroom. There is complete privacy because unlike so many New Orleans houses you do not have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other bedroom or to the bathroom. Our bathroom is located off the living room. The apartment is comfortably furnished with a queen size bed in each of the spacious bedrooms and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. There is a dining table which seats six. There are lots of windows and natural light.

The location is excellent: three blocks to St. Charles Avenue with the street car for a ride downtown to the French Quarter or uptown to Audubon Park, Tulane University and Loyola University. The apartment is three to six blocks to the Mardi Gras parades on Napoleon and St. Charles and ten short blocks to Magazine to see the Muses among other parades. Cafes and restaurants are as close as around the corner or only a few blocks away. Magazine Street with all its restaurants and boutiques is within several blocks as are a drug store and a grocery store. Freret Street, also a few blocks away, has a monthly festival as well as many new and exciting restaurants.

Among our favorites just around the corner is a Il Posto, a European café which is great for a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner. Two blocks away are Charlie’s steakhouse and Pascal’s Manale, a seafood restaurant. Manhattan Jack, which just opened a couple of months ago, has the best bagels in New Orleans as well as all sorts of other wonderful baked good, sandwiches and weekend brunch. The list of great places to eat in New Orleans is endless. We live downstairs and are available to answer questions or to offer suggestions.

This is a wonderful place to stay for your visit to New Orleans and enjoy all the fun and charm of this unique city!

Charming, clean upper suite

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect rental for our two night stay before our cruise. The apartment was clean and charming. Perfect location within walking distance to the trolley, we were able to park our car right in front of the house. Parking in the French Quarter is expensive so I do recommend taking the trolley if you will be spending time there. Pat and Tony were a pleasure to rent from, deposit was waiting for us when we returned home the following weekend.

Love the Garden District - Cannot wait to go back

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed the apartment and our stay. I believe it to be a wonderful value. We were visiting Tulane University with our 18 year old daughter. She loved the privacy of her own bedroom. The location of this apartment is ideal. There are great restaurants nearby and the best evenings we spent were the ones where we stayed in the district and relaxed on the front porch with a bottle of wine and then walked to dinner. We had a car and street parking was readily available. Pat was very accommodating with our late arrival and our schedule change. The kitchen is very basic, but you don't come to New Orleans to cook. It worked great for breakfast at home. The apartment is on the second floor and the stairs are steep, so unsuitable for anyone with physical limitations, but it was no problem for us. Walking along St. Charles street (only a couple of blocks away) was a daily delight.

The trolley is an option to get into the French Quarter as long as you have no agenda or time table. It is extremely slow and unreliable. The one night we took it, the car stopped before the French Quarter leaving us to walk the final 10 blocks, or wait in line to board a bus. They told us the French Quarter was too "crowded".

It was easy to get a cab to/from Bourbon Street to the apartment, in case you like to imbibe, but want to sleep away from the craziness.

Short Visit Home

  • 4 of 5
We stayed for two short days on a quick visit back to New Orleans( our hometown). My daughter has a medical issue that requires that I prepare her meals so we always rent homes with full kitchens. The apartment was well appointed, clean and in a great part of the city. I love the old charm of the uptown homes and it was so familiar and comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer! The location was perfect for what we were doing in New Orleans. Great place to stay!

Quite location for two couples enjoying the city

  • 5 of 5
First off, I indicated on the recommendations that this would be a good property for tourists without a car. Please note that it is just my opinion. I like taking public transit. The closest street car pickup is 4 blocks away and then it's another 45 minutes or so to get to the French Quarter and additional walking is needed. One of our party was in a conference so we did have a car. She felt a car was a must for the location--she felt that 45 minutes would feel like wasted time. Tomato/tomAto. We were able to park on the same block each day--very convenient. We stayed in one of the 2nd floor apartments and it was perfect for us. It was right over Pat's residence. She has a couple of little dogs. We did hear them yip a couple of times in the mornings, but was not disruptive at all. It's an old house with old house character and all of the amenities we wanted. The stairs are steep so hold onto the railing if you are returning from Bourbon Street. There is a washer and dryer that we took advantage of and Pat even had detergent and softener there for us to use. There were plenty of towels and hot water for the four of us. She had several items for our convenience in the bathroom including a hair dryer (it was nice not to pack one). The kitchen was fully furnished for service for 8 or so. The bedrooms are at opposite ends, so our friends didn't have to listen to us snore.
She left us a basket of goodies including a nice bottle of red wine. We decided to slow down one evening so we ordered a jambalaya stuffed chicken from The Cochon Butcher and cooked it up in the apartment. Good friends, good food & good wine.
There is a cemetery just over a block away. We took advantage of a warmer evening and did a night stroll around the cemetery. We were delighted to find one of the gates open.
The only negative in the whole experience had nothing to do with Pat or the apartment. VBRO was doing a system upgrade when I attempted to reserve our dates. Pat took it upon herself to spend considerable time on the phone getting things worked out for us. We have relatives who live just outside NOLA and they know the area well. They said the location was safe and we definitely agree. This home is in a great location in the heart of the city were "real" people live. Six days flew by too fast--which we could have stayed longer--hope to return soon.

Location

From the Owner

We chose this property because we liked the neighborhood and it was close to our family here. We have since decided it is the best place to live in NOLA. It is so convenient to everything and we rarely use our car. We also love the character and charm of our house and of the neighborhood.
