Centrally Located Sf Flat, Sleeps Up To 6

This charming 2 bedroom Russian Hill flat, in an Edwardian building built in 1907, is the perfect location for your San Francisco get-away. The building is located on a quiet street in the delightful Russian Hill neighborhood that is full of old world charm, and is conveniently located near many of the wonderful sites and flavors that San Francisco has to offer:

1½ blocks to cable car (Hyde Street)

Less than 10 minute walk to historic North Beach

Less than 10 minute walk to bustling Chinatown

Less than 10 minute walk to Polk Street cafes and shops

3 minute cable car ride to Lombard St

5 minute cable car ride to Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman’s Wharf

Imagine waking up in this classic San Francisco flat deciding what to do with your day. You could go to a North Beach bakery for cappuccino and a pastry, followed by a walk to Coit Tower and Washington Square. Or you could head to Chinatown for Dim Sum, go souvenir shopping on Grant Ave followed by a traditional foot massage. Maybe you want to go to a coffee shop on Polk Street followed by an afternoon of window shopping at the many boutiques on Polk and Union streets. Or maybe you’ll take the cable car to Fisherman’s Wharf for a seafood brunch followed by a ferry boat ride to Alcatraz.

About the flat:

The master bedroom has a king size bed and bay window, decorated with art deco accents. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, original pocket doors that open to the living room, and is decorated with authentic California Plein-Air paintings.

The living room has a brand new, super comfortable pull-out sleeper sofa that sleeps two people. There are hardwood floors throughout the flat.

The newly renovated kitchen has beautiful original tile work from the 1920s as well as many contemporary conveniences, including a new dishwasher and microwave. I love to cook and I’ve stocked this kitchen with all the cookware, vintage dishware and cookbooks you need to make your own feasts if you so desire.

In classic San Francisco fashion, the bathroom and toilet room are separated. Both have original tile from the 1920s as well as vintage art deco mirrors.

Amenities include:

• Washer and Dryer in unit

• Complimentary coffee and tea

• Bedding and towels provided

• Shampoo, soap and blow dryer provided

• 50' HD Cable TV and high speed wireless internet

• Telephone with free domestic service

• Small outdoor yard with gas grill

• iPod docking station

Parking is available for an additional $30 per day. If you would like to reserve parking please indicate that in your request.

If you don't like the idea of walking up or down a hill you may want to consider renting a car or staying in a flatter (but not nearly as scenic or convenient!) area of town.

San Francisco is a great town for walking, but if you want to drop into a gym or attend a yoga class, there are several facilities close by.

No smoking anywhere on the property, including the outdoor backyard and the front steps.

About the Owner

I moved from my native country of Japan to the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco over 20 years ago and I plan to stay here forever. I truly love San Francisco and Russian Hill in particular. I manage my own art business and love collecting and restoring antiques. I also love traveling, wine tasting, hiking, visiting museums and galleries, cooking, and checking out new San Francisco restaurants and coffee shops.

I am passionate about respecting and maintaining San Francisco’s old world charm. I personally restored this property, keeping as much of the original details that I could while creating a comfortable atmosphere with modern conveniences. I want guests to have an authentic San Francisco experience, and hope the space I have created will make you feel at home.

Because I have lived here for so long, I can provide guests with tips on sites and local restaurants that are off of the beaten path. I can also recommend neighborhood walks that expose guests to the historic and cultural charm that San Francisco has to offer. Since I often go to Napa and Sonoma, I have many recommendations of wineries that you may want to visit.

I am proud of my adopted city and my home and want to share them with you. I hope that you can experience all the wonders of San Francisco that I am so lucky to enjoy everyday.

great location, great host

the house is in a great location and walkable to most of SF sites, except Golden Gate park and the mission (unless you like long walks) and you don't mind a few hills, but then why come to SF.
The host has so much information available to help figure out where to go and gave us 3 excellent restaurant rec's, all within a short walk. The house is very clean and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and chocolates. A great alternative to a hotel stay.

Russian Hill boutique 2 bedroom apartment

  • 5 of 5
This was such a fantastic experience from the minute we arrived till we left, for myself , my husband and adult daughter. The 2 bedroom apartment was pristine, contained everything you could possibly want and was beautifully decorated. We had all the comforts of home, from the light filled lounge room complete with comfortable couches, plenty of cupboard space, a well appointed kitchen with coffee machine, laundry and even a garage. The location was excellent. The owner, Kenji was a perfect host and greeted us on arrival and over a cup of Japanese tea happily helped us with sightseeing suggestions, and even suggested local restaurants. We felt so lucky we had found the perfect place to enjoy our first trip to San Fransisco. Thanks Kenji, we miss you !!

Great San Francisco Rental

  • 5 of 5
Kenji was so accommodating from the time we got there until we departed. He goes out of his way to make your stay outstanding!! When we got there he made us tea and briefly discussed the points of interest. He also left a bottle of wine with chocolates for us to enjoy. The place was very well equipped with everything that you would ever need on a vacation. He lives above the rental and so if there was anything that we would have needed, he can be easily contacted. All the beds were very comfortable, even the pull out sofa bed. Our family of 5 would definitely return again! When we were leaving, he took the time to say good bye to us. Thank you Kenji for a wonderful stay at your amazing place!!!

Exceeded all expectations!

  • 5 of 5
We felt so welcome from the moment we arrived. Kenji, our host, greeted us at the door and proceeded to prepare a cup of Japanese tea for us while he gave us many helpful hints about navigating the city. The flat comfortably accommodated our party of grandparents, son and daughter-in-law and their 2-year-old son. It was immaculate, well stocked, and beautifully appointed. The location is close to stores, restaurants, and transportation, and the apartment's first floor level is just high enough above street level to make it very quiet. A real gem!

Doesn't Get Much Better!

Doesn't Get Much Better!

This place is fantastic! The level of detail Kenji puts into this apartment is incredible. You can tell he that really enjoys doing this, as opposed to it only being an income generator. From the bottle of wine and hand written card awaiting us, to the jam packed binder full of his own personal reviews of local eateries, coffee shops and restaurants, things to do around town, brochures, maps and distances, and just about anything else you may need!

The flat is very conveniently located in the city. Very close to the cable car and transit, and very central if you have a car. It was the perfect location. We had 2 couples staying here, and we were very comfortable. The flat is set up and furnished like a home, not a hotel or rental. This means you have everything you could need at your fingertips! The kitchen cupboards were completely stocked, there was a great espresso maker with various flavours of coffee to try, bathrooms had everything we needed, linens, etc. The bathroom is split into 2 adjacent rooms, with one room having a toilet (Toto!) and sink and the other bathroom with a tub/shower and sink/vanity. This made it a little easier for 4 people getting ready in the morning.

Our only regret was not being able to meet Kenji as he was away on vacation at the time. We will definitely be looking to stay here next time we're in the city and hope to meet him then.

This was our first time visiting San Francisco. We brought our family (four teenage daughters) and had a fantastic stay! The location is perfect (with the only drawback being Broadway is on a very steep hill and we walked a lot!) The flat was very comfortable, even for our large family. we loved the style, décor, and all of the amenities! Having the full kitchen was great as well as the washer and dryer. Kenji was an exceptional host (we should have used his expertise a little more since it was our first time to the city. He is very accommodating and helpful). We look forward to going back again and would definitely stay here again!
