About the Owner
I moved to New Orleans in 1993 to attend Tulane University. And the City that Care Forgot wasted no time sucking me in. As a young man, my Uptown neighborhood met my every want and need - a half block from Mardi Gras, a quick stumble to some of the best live music in the city at Tipitina's and Le Bon Temps, fine eats at Dick and Jenny's, and plenty of libations within striking distance. Now I am older, with three children, and though my needs have changed the neighborhood still provides - ice cream at the Creole Creamery, snowballs at Hansen's Sno-Bliz, two playgrounds, a children's library, and pizza. And of course Mardi Gras.
I have moved three times in the last 15 years. Never more than 6 blocks.

Mardi Gras Gem
The house is in a great location to catch the beginning of the parades on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. (Thoth lines up in front of the house...the kids loved it.)
I highly recommend the property to anyone visiting the city.
Outstanding House and Outstanding Owner
A positive note about the quality of Jeff Clary, the owner. The night we checked in we found the thermostat to be malfunctioning. I e-mailed Jeff early the next morning. He called me within an hour, apologized for the inconvenience and assured me that a reputable HVAC company with which he has worked for years would be at the house that afternoon. He was absolutely as good as his word. When we got back early that evening the thermostat was replaced and the problem solved. Any house (or hotel rental for that matter) can have an issue like this -- the measure of the quality of the operator is how they address a concern. Here, it was addressed professionally and quickly to our complete satisfaction. No more could reasonably be asked for.
We recommend this house highly.
Close to everything!
Amazing little quaint place!
First of all the owners were very accommodating to letting us check in and check out at any time of the day if allowing. There were 4 girls so the 2 bathrooms were a plus!! Everyone loved the place and every art piece and furniture just added its own flare that reflected this quaint house.
The location is very accessible to downtown, Metairie, and chalmette even. Parking was so easy in front of the house at all times of the day, even 2 am.
The kitchen was well supplied with utensils if needed. Blankets and pillows were available for everyone. Towels were a bit rough on the skin, but better than nothing. Needed more face towels, but no big deal.
They had shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer to use. Wish they had some shower gel and hand soap in the kitchen. Cleaning supplies and a washer dryer are available if needed.
2 bed, a futon, and a couch were more than enough for 4 people. We prob could have fit 7 girls.
This was such a great place to rent and would love to come back and I'd definitely recommend to anyone else wanting a great place to stay uptown.
Activity and Interests
This Uptown property is a stone's throw away from dining, drinking, shopping, merry-making, and Mardi Gras. Enjoy alligator pies washed down with Abita Amber at Frankie and Johnny's, just across the street. One block away is Dos Jefe's Cigar bar, which has a cozy patio area. Traveling with kids? Audubon Park and the Audubon Zoo are just 10 blocks away. The park also sports a par-3 golf course, a swimming pool, basketball courts, soccer fields, a jogging trail, and scenic views of the Mississippi River. If you fancy a quiet night in, there are two grocery stores within 3 blocks - Whole Foods and Winn-Dixie. Magazine Street provides ample dining and late night opportunities. Some of the best live music in the city can be found at Le Bon Temps or at Tipitinas, both less than a mile from the property. And if it's Mardi Gras you are after... Many of the Uptown parades line up along Jefferson between Tchoupitoulas St. and Magazine St. - 2 blocks from the house.
