Great two bedroom in a great upper east side neighborhood! East 86th and 1st avenue!! Full kitchen, queens in both bedrooms. The larger bedroom also has a sleeper sofa. Like many NYC apartments, the apartment has a partial railroad style. There are two sleeper sofas in the apartment.
There is a large, flat-screen LCD television! The air-conditioned apartment has high ceilings, wood floors and is located in a wonderful, trendy area that is about five blocks to central park and steps to tons of restaurants, cafes, clubs, bars, comedy clubs, shopping, museum mile (including the met), madison ave, central park, park avenue, 5th avenue for great shopping, etc.
One block away, there are swimming pools, gyms, basketball and tennis courts, and exercise classes. There is a parking garage near by (about $30.00 an up per day).
There is broadband internet (wired and wireless) in this apartment.
There are numerous bus lines within two blocks and the subway is three blocks. Upon booking, we will provide you with complimentary orientation materials to help you plan your nyc trip, identifying fun things to see and do as well as help you navigate the city easily. This will include directions on getting to and from the local airports and instructions on how to drive in NYC without going insane or getting towed. We will also provide you complimentary copy of pertinent subway, bus and central park maps. There are nearby public parking garages (average is $30 to $40 per day). Comedy club (two drink minimum not included).

BEAUTIFULL HISTORIC BUILDING
I have to object to this review! I am happy when guests point out things that could be better in the apartment. Especially if they tell us while they are here so that we can remedy it right away. We don't live there so it is VERY helpful when guests kindly let us know what is needed.
Unfortunately this review is not helpful because it is inaccurate. The ad clearly states that the apartment is a partial railroad AND we took pains to photo the unit in such as way as would show the bedrooms exactly how they are situated! There is no mention of a washer and dryer being in the apartment in the ad. (However I think they just mixed it up with another unit or building).
The guest said there was a smell of gas. If that is so WHY did they not call us? We would have had the gas company out immediately. Also the other guests and the restaurant would have likely complained if there was a strong smell of gas. I myself can't imagine staying in an apartment for more than one minute if there were a smell of gas!
Re the old plumbing: As the ad states: This is a prewar walk up. It has the charm of such and the old pipes of such. The plumbing in the unit is new but the plumbing under the ground is prewar. We've never had a complaint about the water running hot or cold. The boiler is large and certainly of sufficient size for this buildings.
Re lack of basic items: Most guests simply give us a call, text or email if they need anything. We send the cleaner down to the storeroom in the building and she brings it to their apartment. Dishes get broken, things get thrown away. That is simply par for the course. However if something is needed to replenish and the cleaner didn't notice it the guest simply has to let us know and within a very short period the items will be left in the unit.
Lastly re entry: The check in instructions are to call us an hour before you arrive or upon landing so that we can meet you or give you the new codes. We also always answer the phone when guests are arriving in case there is a problem. There are no worries of not getting into the unit when scheduled.
In closing let me say that I dislike having to write a response to a review. I just felt this one was too inaccurate to let go by without calling attention to the inaccuracies. We are not perfect. Problems arise. The building is full of the charm and character of a true New York City brick walk up and all that that entails. If a guest want

“Step outside to endless possibilities!! Some of my favorites: the french bakery on the block, Pio Pio on 90th and 1st(i think it has the best sangria in the city!! Go early if you want a more romantic dinner so you can get the window seat!!), If you would like to try the best burgers in the city, do not have to go far, you can find them right at the property!!!. Health food store one block up, giant groceries, too many quaint wine bars to mention.. But the one on 88th and 2nd with the curtained entrance is great!!), Duane Reade across the street, easy access to the west side as the bus stops on the corner. The art farm on 91st between first and york is great for little ones!! I love asphault green for classes or swimming. Also NY sports club is on 86th and lex.(93rd and 3rd if you want to swim.) you can buy a weeks pass for $20 or so. My favorite exercise class in the city (excluding yoga) is 'soul spin' on 83rd and 3rd. It's fantastic!!! Try to get into Stacy or Laurie's class. Walk to museum mile but make sure to stop in at cafe Sabarsky on your way!! As i lived in Austria, i love this cafe!! The deserts are fantastic (think of the rich vienna chocolates). Joanne works on Thursday and if you can sit in her section you'll have a treat. She loves kids and can't resist treating them with extra special attention!! There is too much to mention.. But there is a start!!”
