Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery cool couple who give off the aire of being young purpose seekers despite being entrenched in real parenthood.I would love to see these two on their own turf. Félicitez les admirables français

Perfect for a Week in the City

  • 5 of 5
I stayed at this apartment for a week with my 15 year old son and 11 year old daughter. It was perfect! The location is excellent, close to Metro and bus lines. I had planned the trip for several months and called and emailed the owner, Alex, several times throughout that period and he was always polite and extremely helpful; more importantly, I would come to find he is an honest man and an honest broker. Everything was as described and there were no surprises. My kids loved it. I loved it. The apartment is not the Hilton. It is not even a hotel and it is in a authentic and safe neighborhood people live and work in (We walked in the neighborhood day and night with not one problem. Not one.) Alex always made himself available for questions or recommendations, if not in person, via text messaging. The price and location not only made it a very sweet deal, but made it possible for my kids and I to see one of the great cities of the world. Would I go back? Absolutely! So would my kids.

Good place for the money

  • 4 of 5
We booked this room after seeing the photos and reading the numerous 5 star reviews. The owner's willingness to bend over backwards to make our trip as pleasant as possible was the highlight of our stay. He arranged to pick us up from the train station, load all 100 pounds of our luggage into his car and then haul it all up 5 flights of stairs to his apartment. He is the most likable person you will ever meet and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to exploring the city. Once inside the apartment, we met his dog, Lucky and were shown our bedroom. The bed is a firm futon-like mattress just a few inches off the floor and was good enough for a couple nights. The room also has a fridge, microwave, dresser, A/C unit, closet and a few shelves full of supplies. We later realized that our bedroom door did not fully latch closed which made the lock on the door useless. The door does not have a deadbolt or additional latches so it can be pushed open very easily. The apartment has 1 bathroom which we shared with the owner. He did his best to stay hidden while we were there, but it does make things a little awkward. The owner is acclimated to the local weather and keeps the apartment a little warm for our taste, so we used our window unit a lot. I am pointing out a lot of negative features in spite of many good things that have been mentioned in other reviews. This is a great place for some people and not for others. We loved the owner, his dog, the location, the view and the air conditioner.

Owner's Response: Daniel,Thanks for the candid review.I wish some of these issues were brought to my attention while you were here, especially the ones easily remedied(door already has been).I hope you can believe I had no precedence thus far other than the obvious differences in a share as opposed to private rental.I have a completely private studio becoming available soon and hope to have another chance hosting you there in the future.

Perfect for our visit!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for five nights while we explored NYC. The location was really good! It is within walking distance of Central Park and many great restaurants and cafe's. We did have to learn the subway system in order to get to the other tourist attractions that we wanted to visit because we didn't have a car but once we figured it out it worked out perfectly! Alex was always accommodating and was always willing to give us ideas for things to do or places to go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone looking for somewhere safe and affordable to sleep that just want to explore NYC!!

Perfect for our visit!

We were visiting NYC for a week and needed somewhere affordable to stay. We found Alex's apartment on this website and it was perfect for us! It is very close to Central Park and has many NYC style restaurants and cafe's in the area. We learned the subway system to get around the city and it worked out great. Alex was very helpful with ideas for things to do and especially with the restaurants in the area. If we go back to NYC we will definitely stay there again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Amenities

From the Owner

My apartment has many arced windows, roof access and a view to the Americas largest Cathedral right from the studio Bay window. The Park is directly across the street and Central Park a stone's throw.I enjoy that it is a new building with the old style charm from the outside without all the slapped together feeling you get in most affordable coops in the city.
