Nestled in the cool higher elevations of Holualoa, this plantation style home is the perfect getaway for those seeking seclusion and lush surroundings with amazing views of Hualalai Mountain.

This garden level apartment is located on the lower level of this 4000 square foot split level plantation style home. The apartment, which is 800 square feet, has a private entrance and is surrounded on two sides by flower gardens encased in stone walls for greater privacy.

In addition, the apartment has a 400 square foot private lanai (patio) overlooking the flower gardens.

An adjacent garage parking space is included with the unit.

Surrounding the Farm's plantation style main house are 1 1/2 acres of gardens filled with many exotic fruit trees, sloping green lawns dotted with many flowering plants and several small enclaves festuned with orchids. The gardens are bordered by 3.5 acres of grazing pastures. As the morning sun clears the crest of the mountain, one would expect to awaken to the sounds of the chirping of the colorful finches that dart about the trees and bushes.

Walks through the gardens would produce fruits for later enjoyment and the occasional viewing of colorful flowers hidden by the garden's lush greenery. The fruits on the farm include lemons, limes, oranges, avocados, passion fruit, lychee, white sapote, longan, surinam cherries, several different types of figs, tangerines and a few different types of bananas. If you are searching for tranquility located just a short drive from the tourist heart of West Hawaii, this might be the place for you.

This is a non-smoking, no pets property. There is a 7 night minimum/12 nights during Ironman and Christmas season. Hawaii Tax ID: W32488959-01

Very enjoyable

When we rented we stayed in the upstairs unit, now the owner has finished remodeling the ohana so he rents the lower level and stays upstairs so I can't say much about the ohana other than it looks very nice and is finished similar to the upstairs and of similar quality, which we found to be very good.

We normally shy away from split units or ohanas for the quiet and privacy but found Steve to be a great host. He's very considerate and very pleasant on rare occasions you do speak with him. We didn't regret staying here at all and it was nice having the owner nearby if we had a question or needed a suggestion for anything.

We liked the location a lot, being up the hill where it's a little cooler was nice and the property around the house is really great to walk around and pick a few citrus fruits here and there. The drive times he lists feel accurate. I didn't time it but I feel like it's about 20 minutes into kona. Worth the drive for the peace and quiet.

The unit we were in was really clean and well taken care of so I'm sure the ohana will be the same way for you.

Overall I really enjoyed the vacation rental. It was beautiful, very private, and relaxing. I really enjoyed the location as the area was gorgeous! However,my biggest criticism would be that neither of the bedrooms had curtains. I understand that they property is fairly isolated, but as the gardener lives on the property (which I didn't remember reading in the description, but perhaps it was a detail I missed) and we traveled with friends, it was hard to know when someone might walk past your window while changing. I felt as if the bedrooms gave very little privacy. The master bedroom door was also a bit off frame so it had to be slammed to close it. Also, the rental expects that you take your shoes off while inside and I think it would have been nice to have a basket for shoes and perhaps a rug of some kind as you entered. As I said though overall, it was a beautiful home in a beautiful area. We had a fantastic vacation. I highly suggest a visit to Holuakoa Cafe in Holualoa which is a super short drive from the rental; it was delicious and had this amazing garden atmosphere.

I stayed at this property for 8 days (Feb 27 through Mar 7, 2014). It is short drive from Kona (20mins) and in the area of coffee farms. Inside is spacious for family stay, and outside garden (well maintained by the owner) is fabulous. Very quet at night, and perfectly suit if you get bored of staying in Alii Drive area. Need fleece jacket or long sleeve shirts at night on some days of winter season, but can escape "hot" temperature in oceanside. Would recommend this property for your stay!

This property is amazing. The house was emaculate and spacious. The property has lots of citrus trees and other fruit trees. We enjoyed having a retreat from everything to relax and enjoy the lush hills above Kona.
