Don't Just Visit... Live in New Orleans!
Bywater Downtown

I stayed here at the beginning of September with 2 other friends. Where to begin. Let me start with my interactions with Richard. First, he was always prompt with his replies and very informative. The site gave me some problems during booking but in the end it all worked out and Richard was quick to fix any problems.

Next, the apartment. It was perfect! Great size for 3 people. Very clean, smelled nice, the air was on and everything was cool during the hot days. It was nicely decorated and Richard really makes it feel like a home instead of staying in a cold, unwelcoming guesthouse. While we were there, I only needed to contact him once and he was quick to respond as well.

You may have read the reveiws about the sweet dog, Flora. She is still there and lilkes to greet everyone. She has a sidekick which I cannot remember his name but he is a ball of energy. Great greeters!

Next, the neighborhood. This was such a cute little neighborhood. Great finds, unfortunately we ran out of time to hit everything in the area but we will be going back. I never felt unsafe walking at night. I'm not saying don't keep your guard up as you should always in any neighborhood but we were never worried about our safety and we walked home pretty late every night.

Last, the access to other neighborhoods. There is a bus stop right on the corner that will take you to the quarter. There is also another line about 4 blocks north of the house in case you miss the bus on the corner. Everything was easily accessible. The Marigny, the Quarter, even going out to the Garden District was a breeze on public transportation. I think we only took a cab once or twice.

This was a great find for a perfect price.

Thank you Richard!!

NOLA has so much to offer!

  • 5 of 5
New Orleans is a great city! So much to offer and so much to do! The only problem is it doesn't have enough parking! This apartment is about a 20 minute walk to the French Quarter and French Market. It's great exercise but if it's hot & humid take plenty of water. One of the best things about this apartment is that Richard will save a space for you right in front if you rent or drive your own car! A huge plus since parking in the French Quarter can be quite expensive! Thanks, Richard!! The apartment is comfortable, spacious and clean. The neighborhood is interesting but safe. The kitchen is large and well equipped so you can cook small and large meals if you want. This apartment is a great value for the money!

Great stay with local community feel

  • 5 of 5
Great place to stay! We had the flavor of the local community rather than a tourist version. Richard & his greeters Flora & Tommy were perfect hosts. Comfortable setting and great local places in the neighborhood. We enjoyed Fraedy's and having breakfast with Sparky, the cat. We enjoyed The Joint BBQ, Maurepas, Booty's, Bacchanal, Frenchman's St, the beautiful riverfront, visiting with the locals, and NOLA.

Excellent Host & Location!

Excellent Host & Location!

This was our first visit to New Orleans and we didn't want to stay in a hotel. This place, and the hosts, were amazing! Our hosts were very hospitable and accommodations were perfect! It's about a mile from the French Quarter so you can walk, ride a bike, or drive. There are restaurants walking distance of the home plus a beautiful park. So much to do and see and this location was perfect for our "hub" and definitely a comfortable home away from home. Will stay there again should we plan to visit New Orleans in the future. Highly recommend this location and was perfect!

A gem in the Marigny-Bywater district

Four of us came down for a wedding, and this place worked perfectly for us! Richard made sure somebody was there to welcome us since he couldn't be, and the rest of the weekend went seamlessly. Located in a great neighborhood, with many fantastic restaurants and cafes nearby, we were able to walk everywhere - including to the wedding itself and down to the French Quarter fest that was happening that weekend as well. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat, and might even have to come back and visit again! Thanks, Richard!

OUTSTANDING in EVERY sense of the word....You have GOT to experience it for yourself!

  • 5 of 5
There are very few times in life, in any situation, that what is advertised actually meets your expectations. My experience at La Boheme, in New Orleans not only met my expectations, but have infinitely exceeded them. It starts with Richard, the owner, who has attended to each and every detail concerning your visit that can be imagined. He is personable, considerate, knowledge, helpful, responsible, and most of all spares no effort when it comes to making sure that you are be best taken care of visitor in the city of New Orleans. From meeting you at the curb and making sure you have a parking space, to taking you on a short tour of the property and showing all the amenities , to providing menus and hints on neighborhood restaurants, and sites to see, to even providing umbrellas when he thinks that you might need it, Richard and Will are class acts, and people who make sure that your focus is on enjoying yourself and not worrying about a single thing. As for La Boheme, trust me when I say it is the most warm and engaging place that I have ever stayed. The interior decor is absolutely gorgeous, with an attention to detail that is beyond reproach. From the eclectic artwork, to the impeccably restored old New Orleans home, the french doors in the Master bedroom that open to a quaint outside porch, well furnished kitchen, fully furnished bathrooms, cable service on all TVs, and fast internet service, you feel not like a visitor, not even like a guest in fact, but you, and I cannot put this more succinctly, you feel like you are a home. If you have not researched the Bywater section of New Orleans, please do so, but let me say this. For the most part, we did not feel a need to go anywhere, as the neighborhood could be explored on its own. You get the feeling of an artistic, bohemian community where you are welcomed by everyone you meet, (thanks Will) . Great restaurants, real neighborhood bars (I got a Cheeseburger from Markey's half a block away at 1:30 am that was to die for), and absolutely the most eclectic and funky collection of homes to be found anywhere in the city. Its a short walk to both Marigny and the French Quarter, with every block unveiling new sights and sounds, and a short walk back when you tire of crowds. If your intention is not just to "stay somewhere" but to experience something beautiful, and refreshing to the senses, you MUST stay here. Its as close to perfect as perfect gets. My ONLY New Orleans residence!
