House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Accessible via Washington State Ferry, private boat, or plane, this lovely vacation home on the south part of Lopez Island is perfect for a family vacation or friend getaway. Before even entering the home, you'll be enchanted by the area's incredible views and the unique scenery of this part of the island. Right nearby is the Agate Beach County Park and Iceberg Point, great for exploring and enjoying the views of the rocks and Puget Sound.

When you walk in the front door, you'll be greeted by the newly renovated kitchen with granite counters, double ovens, and stainless appliances. Bright, light and galley-shaped, the kitchen's hardwood floors are accented by colorful rugs, and there is plenty of counter space for meal preparation. There are even beautiful water views are right out the kitchen windows!

On stormy days, watch the action outside while staying nice and warm inside in practically every corner of the house. A large TV and DVD player is set up for movie nights, or you can just gaze out and get lost in the incredible views from the living room's large windows. A wood-burning stove will keep you warm on chilly nights while you settle back on the couch and read or sit around the coffee table as a group, planning the next day's adventures. This room's decor is traditional, comfortable, and inviting. The nearby dining room table seats four, with more seating available at the table off the kitchen.

The southern bedroom has lovely views of Puget Sound, as well as a queen-sized bed, shelf full of books, and a comfy wingback chair. In the mornings, just let the light wake you after a restful night's sleep. There's no need for alarm clocks here! There are two other bedrooms, each with their own queen bed, comfortable bedding, and homey decor. This spacious layout on one level makes the home easy to navigate and the full bathroom has also been recently renovated.

This three bedroom home will sleep six guests comfortably, with a maximum occupancy of eight. Dogs are also invited to stay here with a $10 per pet, per day fee ($40 minimum per stay). There is no Internet available at this house, but what better way to spend the time in this magical place, than without the temptation of work emails and projects!

Lopez Island is the third largest of the San Juan Islands and is accessible only by boat or plane. There is an airport and a number of public and private docks for people who arrive by boat. The island is 15 miles long, with over 60 miles of shoreline and 2,500 year-round residents. Bikes can be rented at a couple of different shops in town so you can spend the day cycling around this scenic island, visiting shops, and just enjoying the afternoon.

If you can tear yourself away from the beach right out your door, head up island in the morning to Cafe la Boheme, a European-style coffeehouse for coffee drinks and pastries, then stroll around the village taking in the sights and browsing galleries and shops. On Saturdays from May to September, the Lopez Island Farmer's Market has a collection of produce from local farms, and arts, and crafts. If you don't load up on fresh veggies and artisan snacks to bring back to your cottage for dinner, dining options in the village include small cafes, diners, and grills.

For more sightseeing, Lopez Island's collection of parks will have you snapping Instagram pics from the get-go -- there's Agate Beach County Park (about three blocks from the house), with its picturesque pebbled beach, to the more dramatic high bluffs of Shark Reef Sanctuary, where you can watch and listen to seals and sea lions. Iceburg Point contains a short hike to rock cliffs that's suitable for kids, dogs on leash, and folks of all ages, and has stunning water views of the Olympic Peninsula. For a unique day trip, can catch a ferry on the north end of the island to Friday Harbor, Orcas Island, or even Sidney, British Columbia, on Victoria Island.

Come experience "Island Time" at this Lopez Island Agate Beach Waterfront home. The views, peaceful location, and rejuvenating environment will make it so you'll never want to leave!

Great view and beach access

Agate Beach is the prettiest beach around. The house is a bit quirky but very comfortable, and the view and the access to Iceberg Point can't be beat.

Perfect place for a Christmas getaway

  • 5 of 5
We decided to hit the islands for Christmas 2013 and this home provided a very good base for our family. It was clean and very comfortable, with spacious bedrooms, and a great kitchen. Being right across the road from Agate Beach was awesome and we had a wonderful time beach combing with the kids and watching the gorgeous sunsets (the weather cooperated wonderfully for our stay). The location is really nice, with Agate Beach and Iceberg Point within walking distance and the Southend General Store right nearby for stocking up on the essentials.

We had a wonderful Christmas here and we look forward to coming back next year!

We will be back.

The cottage was very cozy; everyone remarked how comfortable it was. It's not luxurious and is rather remote, but it was _exactly_ what we were looking for.

Best for summer only

We go to Lopez every year and were thrilled to find a last minute rental. Agate beach is great and walking distance to Lighthouse point where we saw many seals. Enjoyed sunsets and watching the otters who live in the bay. Kitchen was nice to work in but missing some essentials such as a wine opener! Bring your own or you will need to spend a lot of money at Southend grocery for one! There was a dirty espresso machine that appeared to also be a coffee maker. No coffee pot! The only coffee pot was a small one that makes two cups. If you have more than two coffee drinkers, plan on drinking a half cup at a time. The biggest issues are with housekeeping- which we paid an exorbitant amount for! I feel sorry for the family that owns the house and is paying for lax housekeeping. Found dirty tissue on floor of daughters room with old book, no trash can in bathroom, under beds not clean, cobwebs, numerous clocks that all tell different times. Basement has washer and dryer, but very filthy and dusty. If you have children, shut door to basement and do not let them go down. There is no grill, so bring your own. This was clearly a loved family home and I am writing this review to let the children know that their home is not being cared for as they would wish.

Grandma's House with a view!

Grandma's House with a view!

On the quiet side of the island and so beautiful. A former grandmother's house that has not been updated since she passed away. Kind of homey in a 1950's kinda way. Great updated kitchen. So close to Iceberg point and the lighthouse. Very comfortable. The cabinetry is kind of quirky but that is island life. Always find a use for something! Great place for quiet relaxation!
