Big house with room for kids and adults

  • 3 of 5
Stay at the house for 4 nights at the suggested sleeping capacity. It was the middle of summer. The house and living area was big enough for all of us and it didn't seem too cramped.

The Pluses: Spacious kitchen - we brought all of our food and drinks for 4 days and had space to store it. Huge counters for serving group meals. Nice open living area. The kids had a great time with the toys in the play room. Good launching point for day trips to lake, rivers and the mountains. Plenty of parking for 4+ vehicles. Nice deck with BBQ, patio table and hammock. There were two growlers at the house that we used to get beer from the local brewery - great beer!

The Minuses: One of the bunk beds was broken and not usable when we got there. One of the kids slept on the couch in the loft. It had a sign on it saying do not use. The plumbing needed some work. Toilet were slow to flush and one got clogged. Called the owner and he said that he was trying to get his usual guy, but he was not available. No one ever came out and we had to fix it ourselves. We were there in the summer and it was super hot. The house did not have AC and it did not cool down well at night. Sleeping in the heat was tough.

A really clean, nice welcoming house

  • 5 of 5
This was a great house. We had a multi-generation family reunion (incl. my 85 year old mom and 2 yr old nephew) and this house was perfect Spacious, clean, welcoming with a big kitchen and terrific deck. We had lots of great food and laughs around the big dining room table. The small children loved the toys and all the rest of kids (at heart) enjoyed playing air hockey and ping pong. Owner was very easy to work with. Terrific location as well.

Great Rental House

  • 5 of 5
We used this house for our large family of 10 adults + kids. It worked very well. The living area is larger than it looks in the pictures. The area upstairs is very roomy. There are lots of games and toys for the kids. There are 3 TVs and available internet access. The kitchen is well equipped (5 burner stove and a separate grill/griddle with downdraft vent) and well supplied but did lack sugar. Bedrooms were large and comfortable. Yellow jackets were visiting when we tried to use the gas grill that was outside (a nuisance for me but not impossible). We went to Lake Alpine for a day. The high Sierras are beautiful. The road to Lake Alpine is very good. The water was a little cold. The owner is very accessible and helpful.

Great vacation rental

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from a week's stay at this lovely property. We had a group of 9 adults stay here for a week and we all agreed that it was perfect. It's more spacious than it looks in the pictures. It also provides plenty of privacy. We loved the location (set among the pines). The loft area is spacious and offers plenty of sleeping areas. It would easily accommodate a larger group. The kitchen was also very spacious and well equipped. Ben was easily reached and available to answer the many questions I had prior to our arrival.

We would, not only recommend this rental to anyone, but are already considering returning.

Lovely cabin for families

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect cabin for our trip with three families. Plenty of rooms for the parents and grandparents, and bunk bed area for the kids. Old and young really enjoyed the games upstairs, it was hard to convince the kids to go out for skiing and hiking. Loved the large table that allowed a nice family dinner. Booking process very easy, owner very responsive and helpful!

Great location, couple and family friendly!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed 3 nights in this awesome cabin with a group of six adults and two small children and there was a lot more room to spare! The location is perfectly situated between Arnold and Bear Valley including Big Trees State Park, the village of Arnold and close to wine tasting in Murphys. The cabin has a wonderful large deck on the back of the house where we spent a lot of time during the day and evenings. Loft has more sleeping area and ping pong, foosball and hockey. Large kitchen with counter stools and dining room table provides plenty of cooking and eating areas for a large group. HIghly recommend this retreat away from the busy Bay Area.

Location

From the Owner

We love the layout of this house, although we spend most of the time on the back deck in the summer. While it's right off the highway, it feels secluded (and there's no road noise) and provides a great spot close to skiing, Stanislaus River and all kinds of activities

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : Snowshoe Brewery at 7 Miles Nearest Golf : Sequoia Woods at 6 Miles Nearest Motorway : Highway 4 at 0.25 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Sarafina's at 8 Miles Nearest Ski : Bear Valley Ski Mountain at 18 Miles Car: necessary

Some of our favorite area attractions: Big Trees State Park, Lake Alpine, Murphys (for wine tasting), Moaning Caverns for rappelling, Arnold Rim Trail (for mtn biking), Natural Bridge Caverns (for caving) and Stanislaus River (for lounging)
