LOCATION

We are located in the heart of the White Mountains, surrounded by hiking, waterfalls, and family attractions. Several lovely towns with great restaurants and shopping are nearby. However, the beauty of Mirror Lake Lodge is that you can park your car and leave it. Being directly on a lake and having a huge yard means no packing up the car every time you want to go for a swim. You can wake up and be right where you want to be. We even have miles of hiking / snowshoeing trails along the lake and along Hubbard Brook - right down the street.

The lodge is on beautiful Mirror Lake, which is spring fed and 30-feet deep, ideal for swimming, paddling and fishing. In the winter it is dotted with bob houses for ice fishing. The shore is mostly lined by National Forest. Motor boats are prohibited.

If you do plan on going somewhere, you are near 4 major ski resorts: 15 minutes from Loon (61 trails) , 20 minutes from Waterville Valley (50 trails), 20 minutes from Cannon (63 trails) and 35 minutes from Bretton Woods.

Summer and spring activities include hiking in nearby Franconia Notch and exploring The Flume and the Basin. Rock climbers can easily get to nearby Rumney. Train buffs young and old will enjoy the nearby Hobo Railroad, Lafayette Dining Car, and the steam engine at Clark's Trading Post - all in neighboring Lincoln, NH. We are close to golf at the Jack O'Lantern and Waterville Valley Golf Course. We are also a short drive from The Lost River and Caverns, Waterville Valley, and Squam Lake Science Center. We have information on a local business who can rent and give standing paddleboard lessons right on Mirror Lake.

**Attention swimmers: Before we bought the lodge, we used to come to Mirror Lake just to swim because the temperature was perfect, the water is so clean and and there are no motorboats. It's really the ideal lake for swimming. Our three-year old son loves to play on the sandy beach in front of the house when we are here and wade. The water is incredibly clear. Our beach gradually goes out to 10 feet deep in the middle of our cove and then the middle of the lake itself is 30 feet deep.

HOUSE AND YARD

The lodge is a 200+ year old converted barn with a huge stone fireplace and is imbued with authentic charm and character. We have a hot tub that is in a separate part of the building.

There is a beach, a dock, kayak, canoe and paddleboat that guests are free to use. Also on the grounds is a fire pit, picnic tables, and a very large, flat lawn with flower gardens and playing fields.

Guests are usually shocked by the size of our yard. Is a flat and grassy acre surrounded by lake and trees. We have croquet, bocce ball, and other games in the shed. There's even a large rectangular area that we set up for volley ball or badminton which used to be a tennis court when this property was a children's camp.

There is an owner's unit on the bottom floor of the house that we occasionally use. When we are there, we are there to help and the yard and property are all yours. (We have a separate yard and entrance.) If any issues arise when we are not there, guests are encouraged to contact our local caretaker who lives nearby.

FOOD AND DINING

We have a full kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, toaster, griddle, coffee maker, pots and pans, and most items you would normally need to make a meal. There is also an outdoor gas grill and an outdoor dining area. Within 15 minutes are 2 large grocery stores, several organic food stores, a state liquor store, and specialty wine and beer shops.

If you wish to go out to eat, there are a wide range of good options from pizza and sugar shacks to microbreweries and fine dining. Please ask us for a list of local recommendations and favorites.

INFO FOR LARGER GROUPS

If the party is over 12, it is $25 more per person, per night - this includes children and day visitors. Please check with us in advance if you are planning on additional guests. The house and the house facilities are designed to handle a limited number of people (12). If you want to host a special event, make sure to discuss with us ahead of time so we can see if it is possible to make arrangements.

DOGS

We do allow up to two well-behaved dogs. We do require an additional refundable damage deposit if you bring your furry companion.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This property was perfect for what we wanted. We had 6 of us stay over two nights after my wedding. It provided privacy, was quiet, very clean and well appointed and had a great hot tub. We plan on coming back in the summer when we can do more exploring and use of the lake. The owners are amazing at communicating and were very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet place to stay with lovely amenities.

Perfect Lakehouse Getaway

  • 5 of 5
This is the perfect New Hampshire lodge. Outdoor fire pit and a big indoor fireplace with a huge chimney. The house is rustic and woodsy but its clean and well maintained. There are 6 bedrooms with comfy beds and plenty of common living space. We had 12 adults and 2 dogs and didn't feel cramped. There is a great big lawn with a shed full of games, volleyball/badmitton net, 3 boats and a lovely little lake to paddle on. Hot tub was an extra added plus. The owners were great to work with!

Classic Lake House Paradise

  • 5 of 5
This lodge is a real gem. It's just the right size for cozy gatherings, is clean but certainly not sterile and above all is authentic. We had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at Mirror Lake and were all completely blown away by the breath-taking beauty of the lake itself and the cozy lodge. The caretaker and his father were both very nice people and did a great job greeting us and keeping the place in shape. What I personally loved about the lodge was that it never felt overly curated or overly fancy. There's a true sense of character here that is rarely found in newer, more ostentatious properties. We all agreed that the emphasis was on location and access to an immaculately clean lake. I would highly recommend the lodge, it's a find of a lifetime. The owners are excellent at communicating over email and very easy to work with. This place is the real deal, you would be very fortunate to be able to book it.

Awesome for a group

  • 5 of 5
This is a fantastic home, excellent location, and great for a group. There's a big table in the kitchen, 6 different bedrooms, and a cozy, rustic feel. That being said, the house is very clean, well-stocked (kitchen has basic amenities and towels/sheets are included) and quite beautiful. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the hot tub. The owners and local caretaker were very responsive to my one small question during my stay. I can't say enough good things about it - I hope to go back again!

Location

From the Owner

In the summers when we visited my parents, my husband and I used to come to Mirror Lake because it's the best place to swim in the area. The water is so clean and clear and the shore is so wooded. We had been looking for a place on a lake for years and when we saw the lodge was for sale, we knew that this was the place. We met with Annemarie, the previous owner, who was (and is) great. We were lucky to have her teach us how she had successfully run the lodge for the last 15 years. We plan to keep the spirit of Mirror Lake Lodge going as the perfect place for families and friends to make lifelong memories.

North Woodstock is in the heart of the White Mountains. Just 15 minutes from Loon, one of the largest ski mountains in New Hampshire, and very close to state-owned Cannon Mountain and Waterville Valley (x-country and downhill), the area is ski and snowboard heaven. In the warmer months, there is hiking through miles of National and State Forests, including the Appalachian Trail. Within Woodstock are rivers, waterfalls and gorges to explore with short hikes. Kids and grownups will enjoy Clarks Trading Post and Polar Caves or a scenic rides at Hobo Railroad or the Lafayette Dining Train. Need a break? Great restaurants and bars in nearby Woodstock, Lincoln and Campton. Shopping your bag? Not far either from Garnet Hill outlet (my mom's favorite) in Franconia and adorable downtown Littleton, NH (check out Just L for mid-century modern furniture). Also close to outlet shopping centers in North Conway and Tilton.
