Dogs: Dogs are not allowed in the house and there is no fenced in area for dogs outside. The coyotes and hawks poise a real threat t little dogs (we have lost a few), so please don’t bring them to the house. Your dog deserves a vacation too.

Cat & Dog: ALERGY WARNING…..There is a resident ranch cat on the property at times. He mostly stays outside, but does sneak in from time to time to cuddle. His name is Oscar and he can stay for your enjoyment, or if there is an allergy issue, you can request he be removed from the premises during your stay. There is also a Golden Retriever named Sawyer that has access to the mudroom in the house throughout the year, but will not be on the premises during your stay. (If a serious cat or dog allergy exists, we do not recommend you stay in the house.)

Recent Review

About the Owner

We spent 10 years designing and saving to build the House on Bluebird Ridge not only as a comfortable Colorado cozy place to live and raise 4 kids, but as a warm, welcoming place for guests and people who need a place to stay. Over the years the house has been host to fundraising events, church events, school events, community events, and for 8 years, 50-70 high school kids every week for youth group. If the walls could talk!

Great care has gone in to insuring the home “feels” casual, but is rich in comfort with upscale but not boastful or “stuffy” furnishings and amenities. We are told over and over again… “There is something about this house…it is so warm and inviting…I just feel the stress melt away when I am here.”

As a family, we love the quite outdoors enjoy the serenity found on Bluebird Ridge as well as the wildlife you are likely to glimpse.

Now the kids are grown and on their own and we are left with a big house that needs to have people, families, love and laughter grace its rooms again. So, we offer it to you. Come, be our quests and share in the blessing that we call home.

We hope the house blesses you as much as it has our family.

Great Thanksgiving Holiday!

  • 5 of 5
The house exceeded expectations. There was plenty of space and many unique gathering places within the house. The views and the property were spectacular as well. Chris was very nice, accommodating and a pleasure to work with. We would strongly recommend this for any type of large gathering.

Perfect for our son's wedding party weekend!

Perfect for our son's wedding party weekend!
  • 5 of 5
Our decision to rent this home for the “wedding party weekend” was by far one of the best we made! The beautiful Bluebird Ridge Ranch was more than perfect for our out-of-town wedding party guests to completely relax and enjoy their time together – we were close to town making it convenient to get to the wedding venue and the market yet on 40 acres we were able to truly relax and enjoy the peaceful ambiance.

The first night the wedding party enjoyed their time together preparing dinner, using the hot tub, playing ping pong and pool, taking in the stunning sunset and unwinding after their travels. There was plenty of room for our party of 24 with the great layout and spacious rooms. It easily accommodated 8 couples and 8 singles – all the bedrooms and the bunkroom decorated so nicely and all so cozy and inviting – it was like having our own private bed and breakfast!

During the day, our guests enjoyed the backyard playing horseshoes, crochet, bocce ball – they hiked the Bluebird Trail as the sunset behind the mountain range. We have some spectacular photos as our photographer stayed there with the wedding party.

One of the highlights for us was on the eve of the wedding when we hosted our son’s wedding rehearsal dinner. The owners were so gracious to allow us to do this. We had enough space to include our out-of-town guests, too, which made the evening very special. There was plenty of room to seat everyone and serve the food and drinks. Even our wheel-chair bound family member had no issue with anything and could really enjoy the evening.

It was a stunning evening that everyone will remember - home cooked food prepared in the huge kitchen, the spectacular mountain views, a beautiful sunset and a cozy fire in the grand fireplace made for a perfect evening full of laughter, joy and many toasts!

I can’t say enough about how this home so graciously accommodated this “party” so well – even the bride and groom had room to “get away” to share special moments together as they anticipated the wedding, too.

Tastefully appointed this home has a “put your feet up and relax” vibe. Very, very clean and well stocked; comfortable beds with nice bedding and lots of white towels.

All in all, it was just perfect for our needs. If we could give it more than 5 out of 5 we would. It was truly a special place making for a genuinely memorable time for not only the bride and groom but for all the wedding party as well.

Absolutely amazing!

  • 5 of 5
The house and the property were absolutely amazing and better than advertised! It is a beautiful house, with tremendous vistas of Pikes Peak, sunrises and sunsets, nestled on 40 acres with a cow pasture, tranquil and serene. The owners went out of their way to ensure that the house was accessible to me as a wheelchair user, ensuring that there were ample ramps available to facilitate my ability to get in and out of the house. They were also spot on with recommendations of services in the community, from a local pizzeria to a bakery that in the last minute was able to make a customized engagement cake for my son and his beautiful fiancée, which was absolutely delicious! The combination of the personal attention and concern of the owners to ensure that we had all that we needed, and the picturesque setting and beautiful house made for a very memorable vacation for my family and friends. I wholeheartedly recommend the ranch for anyone who's idea of roughing it in the countryside is staying in luxury accommodations, with a great deck and Jacuzzi. The only reservation I have in recommending the ranch is admittedly selfish… I want to make sure that the house is available for us when we return next year!

A little slice of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5
WOW! We completely enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous home! We have a C4C (freshman) at USAFA and were looking for a retreat for Parents' Weekend where our son and our extended family could relax without being in uniform, enjoy the beauty of Colorado and still have plenty of activities to do to keep everyone entertained. This home provided us that perfect location! We were a quick 15 minute drive to the front gate of the Academy and yet it felt a world away!
From the fully equipped kitchen where my mother-in-law loved preparing her family favorite recipes to the lower level den complete with pool table, dart board and poker table where the teenagers enjoyed hanging out to the peaceful location and hiking trails, everyone in our extended family truly found their place. We will definitely rent this jewel again!
We had a wonderful time at night using our star gazer app and locating the constellations in the crystal clear sky.
The home was clean, comfortable and very easy to find with the owner's directions. We had friends over from the Broadmoor and they found it with no problem.
Monument is a cute and quaint town with shops and restaurants that are nearby. We also made a trip to Garden of the Gods and a couple of other Colorado Springs tourist stops with a short drive.
We were completely satisfied with our stay and look forward to a return trip. The owner is easy to work with and is very helpful. Two thumbs up!

Memories were made!

  • 5 of 5
We recently had the pleasure of staying in this magnificent home. The description of it does not do it justice.
We had my mother's 80th birthday celebration and a July 4th reunion here. The home had everything we needed and then some. From batteries for a child's game to enough tableware for this huge crew. Forgot to bring a certain spice for a recipe? No worry, the spice cupboard was filled to the max.
Their wonderful friends and neighbors made sure the hot tub was clean and working properly. The yard and maintence man was there instantly to mow abit of grass for parking and to clean the horseshoe pits for us.
Televisions and WiFi was remarkable in all parts of the house. The lower level was well equipped for everything the kids needed. Loved the big childrens room with 4 sets of bunkbeds.
The views from the deck were outstanding. My husband and I would get up before everyone else and sit and have a cup of coffee and do our morning devotinal on the deck where the views were outstanding.
Yes, it was abit hard to find, but most of us all have GPS systems on our phone or in the car. We discovered that if you followed the route from the freeway, the navagational system worked everytime.
Activities in the area that were enjoyed by family members were Garden of the Gods, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (5 star rating for this), Pikes Peak, 4-wheeling (although you do have to trailer them for the trails - but you have many choices), restuarants of all likes, etc. No one ever got bored.
We thank the owners for opening their beautiful home to us. Thank you for helping to make the reunion and birthday get-together a success! Would highly recommend this home no matter what your reasons for being in the area. It was wonderful. We will be back!
And just a little side note. The music room was absolutely outstanding! I could have spent the entire time in that room alone!

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with the Colorado Springs Area when we were dating and on a weekend trip. We found our way back here purposely and have enjoyed living in the area since 1985. If you like culture, Downtown Colorado Springs offers museums, festivals, music, art and diversity of people. If you like playing tourist, you have come to the right place and will have to come back every year for 20 years if you want to catch all the tourist destinations. If you love outdoors and nature, as we do, you might start packing now as you might soon be moving here yourself. Bluebird Ridge is just north of Colorado Springs by a 15 minute drive and just south of Denver by 30 or 40 minutes. We can be almost anywhere in less than an hour, including the mountains. It takes no time at all to pack the car with the fishing poles or snow shoes and hit the foot hills for some outdoor adventure. Or take a little more time to head up the pass to the mountains or take the local “back road” up the mountains for some real seclusion. Warning…if you don’t want to move here, you may not want to come visit.

Amenities

From the Owner

We looked for property for years before we stumbled upon “The Forty” as we called it. It was surrounded by pasture land with no homes in sight and we had to cut in the ½ mile driveway and run power and gas lines to the house. Today, we still use the long driveway and wake to the neighboring rancher’s cattle mewing. The view to of Pikes Peak is still unobstructed, and we now have the benefit of having the upscale neighborhood of Kings Deer and the Kings Deer Golf Course nearby. When we were designing the House on Bluebird Ridge, we hit a wall. The architects kept coming back with traditional houses that felt like everybody else’s house. “Dining room on the right, living room on the left, family room to the back next to the kitchen, bedrooms upstairs.” While those are lovely features in a home, we realized that we left our traditional home almost every weekend and headed for the mountains to find a lodge like rental that made us feel close to nature, relaxed and stress free. BINGO….So we built one of our own and stopped leaving every weekend. We soon found that we were more relaxed coming home to “our home” then we were going on weekend trips to the mountains. It was an out of the box idea, but we built our vacation dream home to live in everyday. It has been wonderful. Close to town and only 5 minutes to the grocery store and restaurants, wide open spaces and 360 degree views, wildlife and a very special Colorado Lodge Style home. The 27 foot post and beam constructed Great Room with a dramatic stone-faced wood burning fireplace is open to the oversized gourmet kitchen, formal and informal dining areas, and is the “heart of the home”. The house is designed so you can see out the front and back of the house from most every room and adds to the open airy feeling. The Colorado Sky is amazing and with our high perch we can see the sky and horizon in every direction insuring beautifully sunrises, sunsets and spectacular lightning shows.
