Sleeps 16. 8 Bedrooms. 3 Baths

Flower Mountain Lodge is a unique, spectacular mountaintop retreat crowning the Precious Wood Farm Estate. At 4,000 feet the temperatures and pleasant breezes offer the ultimate mountain experience. Temperatures average 60 at night while the daytime stays comfortable and 6-8 degrees cooler than the lower elevations of Asheville and Hendersonville. Forty-five minutes or less to Biltmore house, Chimney Rock, Asheville, Hendersonville, Lake Lure and the Blue Ridge Parkway make it ideal for taking in the surrounding area and then sinking back into the quiet and peace of this amazing estate.

Enjoy the stunning mountain views, watch the horses in the acres of manicured meadows surrounding the lodge, or just soak in the hot tub under the Milky Way. Amble along the miles of roadways, paths, and marked hiking trails on the estate enjoying the forest, landscape, and clear mountain air. A North Carolina Hiking System trail at the entrance to the estate offers an easy hike to the top of the tallest mountain in the area and 360 degree views. Hidden down a ¾ mile private drive and far from any neighbors, your Flower Mountain Lodge is the perfect secluded haven yet accessible to all the amazing attractions of this beautiful area.

Flower Mountain Lodge is a great-timbered, vintage apple barn lovingly converted into a modern retreat that retains its mountain heritage and charm, Reclaimed wide plank flooring, historic stained glass, massive wooden beams reaching up to a 27 foot ceiling, classic pull-chain toilets, and touches of days gone by offer the sense of a gentler time. Yet along with the past, you will find that Flower Mountain Lodge’s rustic elegance comes with all the modern conveniences.

The 30 foot galley-style kitchen makes cooking for a crowd a breeze. Every chef’s desire is here – top of the line cookware, Hobart mixer, buffet service equipment, double-boilers, quality chef utensils, and a full line of bake-ware. With a 12 foot chef’s counter, separate dishwashing room, and three refrigerator/freezers, there is room for plenty of room for help in the kitchen. Move the cooking outside to your 6 foot grill and a smoker suitable for a whole turkey, and enjoy a picturesque cookout.

The timber frame interior with rough-sawn cedar walls, antique brick, and spacious living area provides for a large number of people but with multiple groupings of intimate seating. Italian leather furniture, palms, and sprawling banquette seating appoint the living space with elegance and comfort. Bose speakers play your favorite music both inside and on the deck.

The Eight bedrooms are thoughtfully furnished and decorated with your comfort in mind. Antique floors, warm woods, and giant-beamed ceilings offer character to each bedroom.

Outdoor living is at its ultimate at Flower Mountain Lodge. With a 1,400 square foot main deck overlooking the meadows and mountains and a total of 2,300 square feet of decks on five levels, you will find your favorite spot to join the crowd or relax in quietude. Dine under the pergola, soak up the sun in the lounge chairs, or kick back under the covered seating enjoying the shade, or perhaps rain on the tin roof. The east deck offers a wonderful dining area for a scenic sunrise breakfast or supper under the stars with a 30 mile view. Fourteen feet up on the second floor, the “Sunset Deck” is the perfect place to tuck away alone with a book or enjoy the display of vibrant colors as night approaches.

Flower Mountain Lodge is a place of charm, peace, and natural beauty. Its unique features and amenities will provide you with a vacation everyone will treasure for years to come.

Thanksgiving get away in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5
We could not have been more pleased. We had a beautiful family reunion. The owners were immediately attentive to any needs we had. The kitchen was gorgeous and equipped for our large Thanksgiving meal! So much charm in this converted apple barn!

Pure silence with a view

  • 5 of 5
Bottom line is the place was phenomenal, I had set up a get together for a few of my buddies to get away nearly last minute. Carol and Frank were great hosts and excited to have a good size group of military guys their property, Carol was on top of everything set, she had it all set up prior to our arrival. The main house is decorated with great taste, and quite frankly the pictures do not do this place justice. Where else can you drink fresh spring water, have all the amenities of any new age hotel a large deck for entertaining and then looking over a fire pit at a view of 40+ miles. Highly recommend this place, to anyone, our only complaint was that we didn't bring our significant others to enjoy it with us. There is plenty of hiking and lakes local if your dyeing to get off the property and you don't even have to travel far. But if your worried about internet yes they have it but you probably should not turn it on anyhow.

This place is great for bigger groups or families or small reunions and getaways, there are plenty of rooms and grassy fields and open hills for kids to play on. There is plenty of room for fridge food and freezer items, and everything else you could ever need to get the cooking done. My recommendation is take everything out there with you, won't want to leave. Naturally the driveway is long and slightly rough, but what you get at the end of the road is worth every bit. Owners scrapped the road for us prior to our arrival and even if they hadn't riding a heavy 2 wheeled street centric harley on it was doable so a car is a no brainer. Weather was fantastic making the view epic, a great stay over all.

Thanks, Carol & Frank

Fanastic Place to Escape!

  • 5 of 5
I recently had a large gathering at Carol’s place and had a fantastic experience. We rented the lodge for 3 nights. The house and location is idyllic with unbelievable views from every location of the back porch. The lodge is located at the end of a long private driveway that was a bit daunting, but the conditions were good and none of the people driving in my group had trouble navigating the driveway (including a couple of Priuses and a Mustang).
We had 13 people in our group and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep and the house and surrounding porch areas provided plenty of room for it never to feel cramped. The place is decorated well and good thought was put into the location of all the furniture to make for great gathering places. Carol really has this place well-outfitted for large groups. I was personally in charge of all meals for our large party and I found the kitchen to be very well-equipped. The house really does look like the pictures—in fact, I don’t think the current pictures even do the place justice—and I was excited by the pictures in the first place!
Carol was very responsive throughout the whole weekend and we could really tell that she wanted to make sure that we were comfortable, enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. That being said though, she was never invasive. We really felt like we had the place to ourselves all weekend.
She provided great recommendations on places to go for fun and food nearby. She also even set us up with a fantastic, local bluegrass three part harmony group that came to the house and put on a private show for us that left us all speechless.
We had a magical weekend and I would strongly recommend this house, particularly if you have a large group and you want a real mountain vacation/experience. Personally, I will definitely have this house at the top of my list for my next large gathering!

I have stayed on this property three times. It is so perfect. Yes, the photos are great but you when you see it, you will be speechless. The grounds are manicured like a country club and even the horse pastures better than most lawns. The lodge is so much better than anyone could imagine with an amazing, well-equipped kitchen (we fed 18), great beds and bedding, and decks that rival any resort. Everything was so clean and orderly. Each time we stayed was flawless. If you want privacy, views, and 5 star accommodations, you can't do better.

Not the Suburbs.

  • 5 of 5
This property is the top of the highest mountain in the county. This should be a consideration if you want every suburban convenience. The review "Lots of Problems" was written after a lightening storm destroyed most of the electronics on the property 26 hours before check-in, the one-mile driveway washed out, and all-new mattresses were delivered late. The owners had less than one day to replace a dishwasher, internet, and other electronics but fixed everything within 2 hours after check in time. Eric S., who complained in Lots of Problems, stated to the owners that "We want a refund of $1,000. If no money is returned, we're going to put up negative feedback on VRBO." Most people would understand that an act of God is unavoidable and would not make such a questionable refund demand. Hopefully, VRBO does not condone such demands.

Addressing the effort taken by the owner and Eric S.'s complaint are direct quotes from an email sent by a guest in Eric's group, who booked the vacation and apparently had a great time:

"These things were not Carol's fault (lightening and weather no one can control). .... I truly believe Carol was working and trying her best to make sure our stay was perfect... So in closing, I want you to know we did have a wonderful time. Your property is beautiful (I never left during my stay) and we mostly loved being with each other and ,yes, we did overcome the things that were out of place or not right."

If you are looking at this property, please realize that it is the mountains. The peace and quietude also can mean minor inconveniences at times. The owners live on the property, about a half mile from the lodge and always address any problem promptly, even replacing a lightening storm damaged dishwasher and installing late-delivered new mattresses in time for guests.
