2,000 square foot beach house offers the most captivating Santa Monica beach and urban experience available in comfy privacy with parking. The rental includes daily breakfast, maid service, daily concierge services and onsite management from copper structure located behind the property. Two car parking is included and conveniently located behind the cottage.

The weather has been amazing; tides have been very low making for beautiful walks along the beach this winter.

The historic landmark from the turn of the century preserves the architecture but has all modern luxuries. The Cottage is in an incredible location, with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and one of the finest white sand beaches in the world. Walking distance to the best restaurants and shopping in Santa Monica. From your doorstep, you can walk, swim, bike, grab a surf lesson, cycle or roller-blade on the famous Santa Monica bike path. Walk to the Santa Monica Pier and enjoy a carousel or Ferris Wheel ride, attend a summer twilight concert or simply spend time watching sailboats and sunsets from the lovely sun-room or front garden of The Cottage.

About the Owner

Owner, John K. Heidt, grew up in California with a deep appreciation of the ocean having surfed since the age of 10 and sailing since the age of 16. John is a UCLA Alum, Father, Grandfather and has been a professional in real estate for the last 38 years. He is President of the Heidt Torres Co. which manages and develops commercial properties in the greater Los Angeles area.

When Donna and John first discovered The Cottage they recognized the potential and beauty of the property immediately, despite the fact that at the time it was a wreck. John purchased the property on May 1, 2008 as a gift for his wife's 50th birthday. Extreme renovations to the tune of $1,500,000 began after extensive planning three years later and were completed in 2014.

I can't imagine a more tranquil and idyllic place to vacation in Los Angeles than at this most wonderful beachfront haven in Santa Monica. This historical property which has been tastefully and impeccably restored - is full of charm. It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience where my wife and I enjoyed sitting on the veranda and watching the sailboats in the ocean pass by as seagulls soared above. We soaked up the sunshine every day and listened to the light rustling of the palm trees which lined Ocean avenue - mere footsteps from the soft sandy beaches where we went swimming every morning. I've never felt more rested and relaxed before in my life! In the few days we spent at the cottage, I felt as if I had taken a much needed month long vacation! I'd come back here in a heartbeat. The Cottage Bed & Breakfast is the first and only B&B in Santa Monica, but it is also the perfect alternative to the run of the mill hotel chains nearby which only offer generic hospitality for the masses. I felt like a local while staying at the Cottage and the kitchen was fantastic too - we cooked every night while watching the sunset and enjoying a nice bottle of wine. The accommodations of this place are just what the doctor ordered! Kudos to the family that restored this special slice of heaven! -Larry

Great Views, Great Ammenities, Great EVERYTHING

Once a year my family rents a home in California for a week. Typically we've rented in Manhattan Beach or Malibu, but decided to try Santa Monica after stumbling across this property and am very pleased we did.

The location is perfect. The front door opens onto the beach and you're only a short walk to the heart of Main Street. While central to almost everything, you're also not too close to the tourist-ridden 3rd street, allowing you to enjoy serenity of the incoming waves.

The amenities are second to none. The house has been recently renovated and no expense was spared. The owners were extremely friendly and committed to ensuring are vacation was everything we wanted it to be.

Santa Monica offers a unique active beach lifestyle in an atmosphere of trendy retail shops and great restaurants. The property provides the same type of atmosphere that inspired the Beach Boys to sing in the 1960s. The Cottage building permit was issued in 1898. Representative of massed-plan vernacular cottages with hipped roofs, this building type and style lined Ocean Avenue at the turn of the Century. Today, it is the only surviving single-family home of its type along Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica and was designated as Historic Landmark #74 by the City of Santa Monica.
